Best Soup shops in Canada

For my lunch break I ordered Freshii online so it would be ready right when I got on my break. I live in Stouffville and for whatever reason it ordered to this location. A minute after I placed the order I received a call of which I heard mumbling, so when I said “sorry?” He replied “I’m calling to confirm your Freshii order”, to which I said “oh yes, thank you”. When I got to the Stouffville location I soon found out that I ordered to the wrong location, so I had to reorder at Stouffville and the people at Stouffville Freshii told me to call to get a refund. When I called the guy told me that it was too late to get the full refund because the food was already made and that they called to confirm the location on the phone. So I asked to speak to the manager and the guy on the phone told me that he was the manager. Then I said that I wasn’t too sure about that and would like to speak to his higher up, to that he told me that he actually owns the store. I asked for his name and he said it was “Steven”. Highly doubt that this man is who he said he was because he went from being “supervisor” to “store owner”. Anyways, he didn’t end up giving me the full refund, he was adamant that I should only receive half my money back, although any manager should know that the company would be losing more money over a lost customer than one refund. I reached out to customer services and they gave me my refund instantly. A problem so simple was stringed on because of a rude employee at this location.

Everytime I order on Uber eats they forget the protein to make the bowl properly, put so much rice barely anything else and ignore your notes.

Absolutely delicious food and warm, kind service. Highly suggest anyone to visit here for authentic flavor. We ordered the Bombay Special and it was plenty of food for two people. Wish I lived here, I would come back often!

The chicken bowl I ate was the worst I have ever had. The chicken was of poor quality and not tasty.

Just reviewing based on an Uber Eats order. It was $25 dollars (I know under takes a good chuck of that) and all rice. The problem I have with Freshii is it’s so different based upon locations and this location is not worth it. Yes, I made my own bowl and picked what I wanted. However the ingredients I picked were so sparse that I feel like I just spent $20 on a bowl of rice. I order from Freshii and multiple locations all of the time and this location really disappointed me.

Great tasting food. Lots of variety and large quantity for the price. The atmosphere is nice as well as it is located in the Covent Garden Market. You can sit upstairs and enjoy the view.

We ordered 1 portion of green curry and 1 portion of pad thai.

The pad thai was complete bland. It was cold, hard and the portion? it was very small for $10 . One of the worst pad thai I tried.

Same with the green curry, $10 for very small portion, taste like the one you get from instant green curry in asian supermarket. All we got just 3 pieces of chicken and the rest were onions and peas.

Not coming back for sure.

We’ve ordered regularly in the past until they left something in the noodles that made my son choke and they didn’t seem to care. Few years ago. My brother in law ordered from here. Quality of food was garbage. Definitely not all was fresh. Major disappointment.

Just ordered chicken green curry... I hardly find chicken from it. Mostly onion! 90% Onion, 5% chicken 5% is other veggies and the sauce. It looks like we got onion green curry not chicken.

Great friendly service in a welcoming atmosphere. Authentic Indian cuisine with reasonable prices. Our server Ali helped us with our selections for a tastfull dinner experience. Will return regularly.

This is my go to for Indian food - and I’m Indian. Very tasty, great portions and selection. I get it delivered at least once a month. It’s been around for years and we used to eat on site as a family quite often.

We went for the first time, the food was excellent, authentic and flavorful.
As for the service, was great very. The owner was beyond welcoming, a gentleman and very kind to our family.

The food however was mid as my 13 yr old described it.

We got 3 lunch specials wish I got one with noodles because the rice wasn't nice at all. The yellow color before I tasted it told me it wasn't gonna be to my liking. Again this is based on my taste buds. Just gave me more curry rice vibes then fried rice vibes.

Everything else was good enough. Also ordered food for dinner it all looks really good, got thick noodles for dinner.

I recommend them.
The lunch special is a really good price and good portion of food.

The hot and spicy shrimp are really good just alil too much batter but still really good.

Only thing I wouldn't recommend is the chicken fried rice, but mixing it with the meat and adding plum sauce helps.

This is hands down the best Indian restaurant in the Waterloo region. The food has such a depth of flavour. Great vegan options. The onion bhajias are an absolute MUST. My only wish (and this is not a complaint) is that they had vada.

Not gonna butcher this place with my comment as it was my first time and tried two different soups only and would give it another chance abd will definitely change my review if the food is better. For the soup, I tried hot & sour and House special wonton special but they were not good at all as the hot and sour was way too sour that I had to leave it after a few spoons, wonton soup was worst than the other and had to throw it as it didn't taste fresh at all. Bear in mind that this place is only a take out and there's no dine-in

Great Indian restaurant with the best Butter Chicken. Choice to make your dishes not too spicy for those that can't eat spicy or more for those that prefer it. Bring all my friends here frequently.

We ordered 2 combos 15.95 each and cashier charged $38.35, didn't gave any receipt.
Packing was good we got extra cutlery n napkins food was hot too.
Now comes to food the potions were big, chicken was tender , but there wasn't flavour in food tho especially fried rice.

Order was wrong. Ordered lemon chicken and got thick mushy breaded chicken with no lemon sauce. Asked for ingredients not to be included due to allergies & sure enough it was in the food. I live 3 mins way and the food was cold when I got home (not warm, COLD). Quality of the food has gone downhill after recent ownership change. Not to mention it was a $65.00 order. Will not eat there again.

I probably should not rate this place bc literally every time I go I always get the chicken pad Thai, which is the best in the city. Not sure if their other food is good but they usually are busy so I'm assuming it is.

First of all the store is very clean and sanitary. They always wear gloves before preparing your order. Staff is kind and friendly. And food is always fresh and tasty. My go to is kale, spinach pocket. And salads. All day breakfast, Highly recommend.

The beef was very tough and chewy. When I complained to the waitress, she apologized but did nothing to provide me with an alternate meal or discount if any sort. Very poor quality meat used in the dishes. Our clothes stunk after as the ventilation is very poor.

Ordered one litre chicken bone broth jar thinking it would be served hot but it's my fault that I didn't check properly and was served a cold bone broth in 1 litre jar for almost 15 bucks.

I asked if it could be served hot but the response was that jar would break which is fair but atleast could have offered other options like - we can cancel the order and refund, or serve you hot soup in glass, etc.

I was in a rush and I left and tasted soup later (both cold and hot). It tasted bland and awful. How can this be sold for 15 bucks? It just tasted like watery chicken stock. I don't taste any flavour.

Will not return again. Pure disappointment.

Really great rolls (including the Florida roll)! Cool, dark atmosphere inside with intimate, small booths for having dinner. Lots of soju choices and a huge menu with Korean BBQ as well.

Beautiful restaurant inside and lovely customer service. I have dined in once and had a great experience with both the food and the employees. I've ordered take out a few times now and have still received great customer service every time. I 10/10 recommend the Sweet and Spicy Korean Fried Chicken with a side of rice, however I do wish there was a boneless option.

Delicious! Recently ive started coming to Toronto on a routine basis from the states. The cilantro lime dressing is AMAZING. A healthy option with delicious taste that does not spare on flavor.

I ordered takeout, oysters, cheesy dragon roll, scallop roll with cream cheese, miso soup, and a large assorted sashimi! The oysters came with two sauces and on ice! Hot sauce and something else both were amazing and as fresh as Winnipeg gets! Omg so good 😍! The sashimi was amazing loved the chefs choice!! Wasbi was delightful! The rolls I think maybe got mixed up with a caterpillar maybe… but it was delishous as well! Even my two beers came on ice! I love how above and beyond they went! I feel like the price was fair for the city and size, wish they did say oz size for miso soup cause I would have ordered two! So delishous! Sent lots of chopsticks, everything came *appreciatively* well sealed to avoid I’m sure many togo disappointments! Ginger was perfect to cleanse palette between delishous options! Will be a regular and would for sure recommend!

Went there last Sunday for lunch. I didn’t know they serve buffet as well. The whole spread was nice and fresh. Tried almost everything and liked everything. Game changer was vermicelli kheer and mango kulfi. Chicken tikka masala was the best in main course. The whole staff and owner are very humble and polite. Overall highly recommended if you are looking for South-indian cuisine.

We went there after seeing some good photos and reviews to try their Kimchi fried rice and udon. But we were very disappointed with the taste, quantity and the price but the atmosphere and the staff was very good and polite. Wasn’t happy with their food taste and quantity at all. We also ordered Sushi (which was so good), but spent $50 with tips on those foods wasn’t a great choice for us to do as we were very hungry after the day of hiking.

The perfect spot for a quick, healthy meal. I love the teriyaki bowl and the buddha satay bowl. Every time I come, I get the best service and the gentleman working there always has a big smile on his face. It is refreshing. Totally recommend!

Have been going here for years. Today I ordered Green Chicken Curry/Noodles. Barely any noodles and two pieces of chicken. Quality of food wasn’t what it used to be. You lost a long time customer today. I won’t be back.

Bad. This is our third time and by far the worst - and last. Ordered Boki Boki and it was terrible. The chicken was just gristle and fat. The teriyaki beef was bitter. Thank god portions are small as we offered it to the dog - who didn't want it either. Very disappointed. How did they mess this up so bad? $130 meal not including the tip. Won't be back.

I purchased the larger one 12 ounces for 5 bucks with tax. It tasted awful, not like anything I've ever had, it was extremely bland but had a weird taste. I'm not sure why I couldn't taste a hint of any of the ingredients listed. Soup Nutsy is off my list. Sadly because I love soup.

Ordered extra spicy garlic mixed veggies. When I opened my order there wasn’t a single ounce of garlic flavour. The veggies were drowning in a sweet sauce. When I called the restaurant to inquire, they hung up on me.

It used to be decent quality and a good price and the quality went down slightly and the price went up drastically. Some items are 3 to 4 dollars more than they used to be a year ago and you can get the same exact thing the taste way better, and are far better quantity from Bangkok pad Thai and thaiphoon. Their fresh rolls used to be a decent price but they went down in size and our way over priced now as well as their coconut rice is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. And the curry was never really that great. Just a very watery yet flavourful sauce but now they just charge you way too much and put almost nothing in it but watery sauce. You can get the same food at many other places. For sometimes the same price for way better quantity and quality and sometimes a few dollars more but the quantity and quality is just so much better. It’s worth a couple bucks. This place was great when it was so much cheaper than the rest that you quality it was just a cheap, quick easy and somewhat tasty order and now it’s just not worth what it is. I would not recommend it anymore unfortunately And the pad Thai was never good. It was it was always garbage.

Colour of food looks good but food was tasteless ,lack of flavours not even salty n spicy at all, saag was sour and bitter ( taste old ), cauliflower was oops far away from restaurant style , in kofta they add same bhaji pakora which supposed to be different and not taste of sugar and spice in it at all .
Naans were super thick.I was excited to eat indian food but they spoiled my dinner date.

I tried dosa and the whole buffet there. To be honest, it was one of the best i had in canada. They give you the option to customize dosas their chuttney are literally scrumptious. The owner was very nice and well-behaved. The uthappam was sooooooo good i loved it..... overall, the food was awesome

The best place to have indian food in waterloo❤️🤩🤩. They serve the authentic south indian food. The idlis and vadas are the best. They serve buffet now and also they give so many customization options when it comes to dosa and uthappam. Do try their chutneys. And don't forget to have their badam latte. It's top notch. If you ever get a chance to visit waterloo . Give this place a try i am sure you definitely love it .

Oh my, where to start? If I could give 10 stars I would. We have driven past this place many times and always made a mental note to try it (and always forgot soon after🤦‍♀️). Last night we finally got out there, and wondered why we waited so long. Very clean, open, brightly lit, and fresh feeling atmosphere. Apparently they used to be located on a different street, but I'm glad they moved because otherwise we might not have found them. We were greeted with friendly faces and allowed to choose where we sat. We ordered mini samosas and onion bhaji to start. Chilli chicken, and chicken Tikka masala (commonly known as butter chicken) for the main course. I ended the meal with a delicious cup of Masala Chai. We have eaten at MANY Indian restaurants across Ontario, and not a single one will compare with this restaurant. We were truly rendered speechless when asked how our meal was. I know this sounds cheesy, but it's true. Simple words just could not describe how good it was. The Tikka masala was rich and creamy and melted in my mouth (I think I melted a little too at that first bite🤣). My husband says the Chilli chicken was amazing, though the sauce very spicy (he was WELL warned when ordering!). The mini samosas were adorable, but still full of flavour, and the onion bhajis were crispy and cooked to perfection. We were also given a small caddy of 4 homemade sauces/chutneys for the starters. A corner portion of the restaurant is dedicated to their homemade soups, stews, sauces, chutneys, juices, desserts, and more, that are for sale to take home. We happily chose a few of our favourites from the evening, and will definitely be back for more. If you couldn't tell from my very happy, very long review, this restaurant is a MUST visit. I went at Shaan Tandoori with friends for the very first time and as we went inside there was no customer. First we thought, this is not a happening place but we want to take a chance and ordered Chicken Tandoori & Chicken Tikka. Although, it took some time to prepare the order but when it came, they didn’t make us disappointed. They have option to serve rice or bread with the order. It was yumm! Till that time entire restaurant was filled up and we were like our initial thought was wrong.

We asked them to take more orders but they told us to wait as it will take time to prepare as there are lots of occupied tables who are waiting fir their order. Thats the only thing which they need to improve. Taste was good and it was not that costly. Many orders were for take away also.

Great chilli. I get lost every time I’m looking for this place in the PATH but, I’ll get there. All soups come with a huge slice of bread and a fruit like and orange or apple, you just help yourself.

My wife and I decided to deviate from our usual Indian spot to a location that has been on our radar for quite some time now. We're very glad that decided to change it up tonight!

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we felt very welcomed by the staff and service was attentive throughout.

We ordered our favorite dishes, butter chicken, beef bhoona and saag paneer, all of which were delightful nostalgic but with a subtle and noticeable difference. The flavours were rich but reminded me of true home cooking. The dessert, gulab jamun was just the cherry on top.

On top of this, location is easily accessible and parking was a breeze. The prices were very fair considering the increase in food cost and the awesome service. Not to mention, BYOB!

We'll be back soon, hungry for more!

I ordered catering for my office lunch and they were awesome! We got chicken noodle soup, and kale quinoa. Came with 2 options for sides each so we got veggie sticks, bread, and fruits. So yummy

The service was amazing as well. They helped me get the food right upstairs and set up. 10/10

We ordered a few dosas and a spiced mango juice. All of them were authentic, delicious and the ambience was very good! They also have a lot of curries that you can take home and make yourself to save time. The items were a bit pricey for our budget but we had a great experience! Will come again!

Located on Pembina near Jubilee, this sushi place has quite an easy excess with tons of parking spots. The interior is beautiful and has dividers between tables to give you more private dining experience. The menu is really big and has quite a lot of selections for fish and rolls. Also has specialty section and korean food. We didn't get to try to Korean food but the sushi we ordered was very fresh and delicious. They serve fresh oysters here as well which were amazing! Definitely order a house hot sake!!

Great place that I discovered during covid.first of all, great and sanitary procedure of how to give customers food in the store. Secondly, the food is spot on and genuine. Taste is really fresh, light and much more memorable than the likes of other Chinese food I've had recently.

The best soup I've ever had each and every time.

Before I tried it I used to wonder why anyone would line up for soup. It seemed a little cliche, playing out just like the Seinfeld episode for which the restaurant is named. But then I tried it and fully understood. I went back the next day and have since gone back several times. Although the line up might seem long, it does move at a fast pace (after all it doesn’t take long for the team to scoop the soup into a bowl). You can avoid the line entirely by ordering in advance with the Ritual app. Try it once and you’ll be hooked!

Sesame chicken is a must. Lemon chicken keeps well in the fridge and isn't bad with the sweet sauce you get with the wontons. Nice staff. Overall not a bad place for something different and quick.

Seems the workers there are authentic Thai. This is the small size pad Thai which costed me 7.92 CAD with tax. I bought it and had it just a few minutes after paying…It was the most dreadful pad Thai I had ever had in my life! They claimed that they had fish ingredients in it, which I guessed that it was Thai fish sauce. It was not lightly fishy yet appetising as I expected. It was unpleasantly sour and the pad seemed to had been kept for long time in storage which became rancid! The shop claimed that they sold the best pad Thai in London. You are warned before trying! I shall never be there again!

This is a great place to stop in for a good quality Indian meal. It is home to the best onion bhaji in all of the Grand River district and the sambar and chutneys are so good that they are available in bottles for taking home and the dosas are stellar!
We have no problem finding vegan and gluten free options here, and the staff are consistently hospitable and friendly.
Google the address, make a plan to get to this reasonably priced, casual dining establishment and go hungry because the aromas and the quality of the food will definitely result in your enjoyment of lots of yummy things. We don't get to this restaurant as often as we'd like, but if we lived in Waterloo, we'd definitely be there a lot more.

Lots of delicious options if you don't have food restrictions but if you're vegetarian or gluten free, it's harder to find a complete satisfying meal. Today I got the mexi corn tortilla soup and it's really just tomatoe broth with corn. Not enough fiber or protein to fill you up. Recommend for veggie options that they add more fiber or protein (beans, chickpeas) and for gf options, carbs. I added quinoa which is not all that delicious as a soup base.

Otherwise, it's a great place and it's great that they label everything and accommodate so many different allergies, restrictions and preferences.
