Great service and program but costly.

Toronto has a bike-sharing program called "Bike Share Toronto." It allows residents and visitors to rent bicycles for short trips around the city. The program offers various membership options, including day passes and annual memberships, which provide access to the bikes at docking stations located throughout the city.

Please check official Bike Share Toronto website or contacting local authorities for the most up-to-date information on the bike-sharing program in Toronto.
Couldn't get this to work.
One station, the screen didn't work, the next two they didn't accept codes. Which is what the site gives you when using a credit card. So, I couldn't figure out how it works. And I'm a technically savvy person. If I can't figure it, most people won't. That's probably why every stall is practically full.
If you live here, you can sign up for a card, I guess that's what it's really meant for.

2 phone calls later and a wasted afternoon Very disappointed bike share is not willing to offer some kind of courtesy minutes for a future ride. Seems like a reasonable gesture for having to spend 45mins talking to a service agent and walking a bike to another station after the one we got it from wouldn't allow us to get a second due to an inoperative card reader. At this point, it would be hard to trust bike share Toronto to attempt another trip.

Agree with one of other reviews - be aware that when you get a day pass you have to have a hassle and check in regularly (despite a 24h pass!). If you do not do it, you’re charge A LOT. I rented a bike with a daily pass and used it for 4 hours (and no, i did not check in). I ended up being charged for the daily pass plus all the time so I ended up paying more than twice of the pass price !
Terrible experience with the bikes. The bike malfunctioned when we docked it, and the company made us go back to that location which cost us two uber rides and a ferry ride that we had to cancel after paying. The bike was never found and the only solution was to wait until it timed out, charged us $100, and to call for a refund. Bike Share Toronto ruined our Labour Day in Toronto and we'll never use them again.

Rented 4 bikes on Sunday May 23rd. Their entire system went down and could not return bikes at destination due to station being full - no new customers could rent bikes to free up slots and there were no other nearby stations.

Called customer service rep took my account info and told me to keep bikes until end of day and assured me I would not be charged over the $30 normal cost for 4 bikes day pass with 30 min trips.

Early this week my Visa was charged for multiple transactions $80, $80, $31.64, $31.64, $108.48.

Expecting these transactions to be reversed but a hassle I don’t need right now.

Toronto's bike share system is amazing. I love it and it makes life in downtown very convenient. They have some very reasonable rules and they go out of their way to ensure that it's easy for people to know, remember and follow these rules.

I see a lot of 1 star reviews from individuals who obviously feel extremely entitled. I assure you that they're all ignorant reviews. I've been using bike share for a long time now and I've always been given all the rules up front. There's a docking station every 15-20min so you don't go over the 30min mark. What's more there have been times when I exceeded the 30min mark by upto 4-5min due to traffic or something else and I've never been charged for it. This shows that the company is understanding of the fact that you may be delayed a little due to unforeseen circumstances.

Yes there are bikes that don't work, are broken etc. But there are a lot more that are freshly serviced and cleaned. I can't comment about customer service, but I've never had any reason to call them.

Overall, I don't think they're overpriced, I think they're super convenient and user friendly. They're not in the business of hospitality. So I don't expect them to do all the thinking and due diligence for me.

Be realistic and you'll see how amazing this service is. :)

I purchased a 24 hour pass for 3 bikes and was given a code at the time of purchase which expires in 5 minutes after purchase (as stated on the ticket I was given). Thinking that this pass was for 24 hours, we took the bikes for ~1.5 hours and returned them. The next day I was charged additional time for going over 30 minutes (twice for 3 bikes).... so what is the purpose of getting a 24 hour pass if the code you are given expires 5 minutes after purchase and you are only given 30 minutes of usage??

Even if this is somehow a reasonable way to handle the 24 hour pass option, the docking stations need much better explanation on how the different passes work. As I see many other reviews that are saying the same thing, this is not an isolated incident at a specific station. I would not have spent that much money on an uncomfortable bike when I could have gone to one of the many legit bike rental shops for cheaper.

BIG SCAMMM!! Will never use again in my life. Their system is designed to steal people’s money. I talked to customer service and they were very rude and hung up on my face.

I've been an annual subscriber since (almost) day one. Very convenient service with convenient locations. 1-way rides are something I can't do with my own bike and rarely do I have to take a cab/uber. Great value for money.

Big scam - you pay $7 for a "day pass", but that price only holds if you dock the bike every 30 minutes (which they don't explain). $30-$50 overage fees if you don't. You can use the bike right away after docking, but you are basically always checking the time and racing for a docking station. Stressful experience, would never recommend.
Worst experience
Paid for 24 hours rental then charged an extra 55$ for not docking the bike so others could use the bike? Then what’s the point of paying for 24 hours. Rip off and scam.

Worst experience ever!!!!!! I think they either want to rip people off or don't want anyone to use their service. Got charged $50 for a day's ride, which was supposed to be $7 for a supposedly "day pass"! Now they ask you to pay $7 for a day pass but you have to dock the bike every 30 minutes and change to another one to avoid the overcharge. How is it a day pass?! Who is going to plan the ride aound where to dock and change the bike? Ridiculous policy and worst experience!

This is a bike share location. You ride from A to B and check the bike back at another bike share station. Fees are $7 for unlimited 30 minute rides over a 24 hour period. This is NOT a $7 bike all day rental for tourists. Overage fees apply if the bike is not returned to a dock within 30 minutes, which are $4 for every extra 30 minutes. So don't be late returning your bike!
Worst bike share ever!!! I give them 1 star, because there is nothing below 0 star. Very expensive, paid nearly 90$ for 7h bike rental (2 bikes). Don't use this service.
TOURIST TRAP!!! BEWARE...

It's $7/hr. plus membership fee of $7... Local bike repair shops are much cheaper.

It clearly states $7 for 24hr Access Pass on the 5 inch display when you rent the bike. This makes you believe that you are renting the bike for $7/day. You will find additional charges over 30 minutes for renting the bike. That rate is $7/hr. Their pricing is extremely misleading and confusing on purpose. No wonder their bike racks are full.

A similar company in Miami, FL, called City Bike is extremely clear with their pricing. They have both membership, or hourly rentals clearly stated at $4/hr. Membership fees are not required.
