We saved a sweet baby birdie from a hungry crow today!
It's couldn't quite fly, yet, and it clearly needed some care. Luckily, we heard its cry immediately on our back deck and we scared the crow away.
After it recovered from shock, we fed it some water through a medical droplet and it totally ate it all. What a cool experience, but we knew it was best to act fast and get it back with its mama, but at 230pm, & 33° unfortunately she was nowhere to be found.
In the meantime we called WILDLIFE RESCUE ASSOCIATION.
I spoke with Gabby. I heard in her voice, she wanted so badly to support this baby birdie, and she clearly cared SO much to want to support the situation.
When she called back as a courtesy, she explained that their support team is volunteer based, and that she's just waiting on a volunteer to respond to her request for assistance. We were warned that we may need to wait a bit, so;
PLEASE IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER FOR AN AMAZING CAUSE, PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING FOR THE WILDLIFE RESCUE ASSOSIATION, (B.C.)
They are actually short staffed.
Today was so random for us.
We had deadlines to meet, but we were given a baby birdie that needed a random and caring team of ppl to work together for him.
They took as many details of mine relevant to the baby birdie so they could rehabilitate and release into the same place as soon as possible.
Thanks Gabby n' Sanjay for caring so much,
and volunteering your time for these random wildlife situations.
Together, we gave this Lil birdie a chance!
The most caring ppl we know, are the coolest ppl we know.
I'm so confident to leave this 5 star review today.
I can confirm that the negative reviews are 100% true.

A lot of people will be extremely disillusioned to hear this but I think it is important for everyone to know what is really going on at this wildlife refuge. It is hard to get the real story because they are so secretive. As a whistleblower it is my duty to steer everyone away from bringing any animals to this place. Even if the animal is dying, let him die peacefully in the wild. Don't torture him by putting him in a box only to spend hours or days in solitary confinement without food or water, waiting to be executed.

This wildlife place during fledgling season gets 30 to 40 animals a day and they only have a tiny shed to hold them. That means due to space constraints alone they have to euthanize over 90% of the animals they receive regardless of their condition or prospects for survival. They obviously have a few token birds they save and make videos to show the public so it looks like they are doing something good, but the reality is they are just a killing factory because they have to be.

I have befriended a family of crows in my neighborhood so I was naturally devastated during fledgling season to see one of their babies limping around with a broken wing crying out for help and approaching people, dogs, cars without fleeing. He was definitely not going to last the night and might have died within the hour when I captured him because he was standing in the middle of the road, waiting for a car to run him over. This wildlife place has made me regret that I tried to save him. If I knew then what I know now, I would have left the poor little guy to die naturally with his family close by. I feel that I have robbed them of the natural grieving process which they go through because they are so smart. Smarter than me, perhaps.

I kept poor little crowbert in this uncomfortable cardboard box all night since it was after closing time when I found him injured. He was obviously in a lot of pain because I could hear him shifting around all night. I paid for an Uber to rush him in to the wildlife place hoping to get him started on his recovery ASAP. The first thing I noticed was that the staff was very inhumane about taking my poor injured friend and just whisked him into the preprocessing shed without even checking to make sure he was comfortable. The attitude felt to me like the staff member was simply stacking up a piece of cargo to be shipped off.

So here I was thinking I did the right thing and that little Crowbert was going to be okay and I told his father Blackbeard as much. After not hearing any news about the patient and getting their email soliciting me to send them money, I sent a message to explicitly ask how Crowbert was doing, if he was eating and drinking fine because I didn't feel confident to try to feed him all night. It had been two days at this point. I got a reply telling me that the patient had died shortly after he arrived. In other words, they killed him, just like all the other reviews are stating.

I had been so interested in helping the process of rehabilitating this bird that I asked if I could be the one to release him back to his family since they were very worried about him and I was worried they might never trust me again if their baby didn't come back in good condition. They said they couldn't let the public do that. I knew that they had volunteers so I went ahead and started the process of becoming a volunteer and read all the handbooks and volunteer agreements.

The peculiar thing which I found to be emphasized in the volunteer agreements was that these people are bound to an extreme form of SECRECY. This looked rather suspicious at first but now that I know this place kills almost every single bird that comes to them, I understand why they insist upon secrecy of their staff and volunteers. They naturally don't want the word to get out about the fact that they are a killing factory. It might interfere with their ability to get funding.

Compassion is more important than money. Don't bring animals to this place!!

We were hearing noises in the roof above our second floor bedroom for several months. We'd previously had someone else come by and look at the roof as we suspected racoons were living in our small attic space. However, we were told everything was fine and that there was nothing to worry about. After the noises continues and became more prominent we got in touch with Swat. Great decision ! Randy came by and did an unbelievably thorough inspection of our roof and walls. He was able to confirm the presence of racoons living right above where our bed is located. He even showed me where they were nesting using his thermal camera. Randy was also able to diagnose that there point of entry was the neighbours roof. In the end our neighbours went a different way for fixing the problem but without Randy my wife and I would still be tossing and turning at night. Highly recommended !

Brian was a great help! Advised on the best way to deal with an ongoing squirrel issue. Cost conscious, and had what was best for the client (me) involved
Ask for Brian specifically if you’re in the West end - Castleoma over towards Mississauga
We brought a sweet young bird here and Abby was a Rockstar that took care of him in the best way possible. Very friendly staff and they keep you in the loop with updates on the animals you bring to them. Excellent experience!

I've been aware of SWAT for quite a few years and always saw their professionalism in their posts.
After some strange scratching noises in the attic that persisted, despite my amateur efforts to address it, it was time to call them in.
Rob showed up right on time and did a very thorough inspection of the roof, soffit and inside the attic.
He was very knowledgeable and explained what was going on and his method of attack.
I'm very happy with them and highly recommend as a trustworthy and professional service.

SWAT Wildlife has been great. Tony installed roof vent covers and a one way door to humanely resolve a squirrel issue. Pricing was fair and the work was done quickly. We highly recommend! Thanks Tony!

AWESOME PLACE!
These people genuinely love and take fantastic care of the wildlife in their care!
I donated a large dog crate that we no longer needed. They need any help they can get as they are doing wildlife a great service.
Patrick and team, THANK YOU on behalf of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver for the rescuing the baby ducks in time today.

We discovered mallard duck eggs up on the rooftop terrace.
From experience last year, the Landlord knew that the mother would be protective of the eggs, so we called the Wildlife Rescue and they told us to keep an eye on when they hatched.
It's a far fall to the ground, and we wanted to make sure they were protected once hatched. Not only from falling, but also from crows and seagulls.
Wildlife rescue was super responsive and gave us peace of mind in knowing that they were monitoring the situation closely.
This morning, the eggs hatched, and all the volunteers were tied up around the city as this is common this time of year.
They ended up making it down today somehow, a gentleman named Patrick was amazing.
There were 10 ducklings with the mama and no casualties to the predators.
We were impressed with how quickly and effortlessly the entire operation went.
We had a red wing blackbird with an injured wing in our yard. A wonderful lady came out to try and catch it, but it was a fast walking little bird and it climbed up a tree out of reach in the back yard. She stayed around for some time to see if she could catch it.
The next morning, this bird somehow managed to get back to the front yard tree. They were going to come out and try again, but sadly, a hawk got the blackbird.
Thank you to CWRS for coming out and trying so hard to help him.
Circle of life.
Their 1️⃣ ⭐️ star reviews are absolutely ALL correct. Not sure if it’s the whole team or maybe this one person people keep speaking to. Who is insanely negative and will dispel any form of hope or life. As I read on here after and offered myself to pay for or donate along with asking for care for a bird/developed pigeon egg probably 2-3 days away from hatching. I didn’t have the heart to put it in the garbage alive…. But don’t call them. Yikes. You will get TALKED OVER and told that “even if it was an Endangered species we wouldn’t take it. The success rates are so low. I’m speaking from experience.” Well your experience is terrible then or needing better qualified staff. ??? What ever questions I asked, it was dismissed and dispelled. Saying they don’t have whatever they need to do that. Then confirmed they do have incubators. But went on with more excuses of why they wouldn’t take it. And saying that they need their mother.
Which literally IS NOT TRUE lol how misinformed are they? Just firing any excuse or wives tale at me. peoole have incubators at home. And raise all types with MUCH success. Nature is resilient. To this person. Nature is Death. Despite that you can BARE MINIMAL go on YouTube and prove her wrong ….and in my experience in life knew people that hatch birds. Chickens. And all types. And feeding tube with syringe etc. to Mimic the Mom. Didn’t matter what you would ask. Suggest. Donate. (Because I see they will say they don’t have the money) but they seem to not hear anyone say THEY WOULD PAYA. This girl was having NONE of it. And won’t even try.
And assumes death is the only outcome no matter what.

If someone is suffering from MDD. This needs to be approached and have the person put on leave if they are unable to cope with life. Clearly this is affecting their work and job. But I learned something today. That compared to the Wildlife Rehab on Vancouver island who is WELCOMING. COMPASSIONATE. COMMUNICATIVE. HOPEFUL. SOLUTION ORIENTED. this place is not.
To say that if something is endangered even if it’s an egg they won’t even try. I bet that applies to even if it was hatched based on others brining live animals there and then either killing them or not going to get the bird/animal to help.
With THIS ATTITUDE I can see why people wouldn’t donate to keep it going. No effort. Attitude. Negative conversation. Whatever it is they will have an excuse. Like the others I wish there was another centre. So I could immediately go give a $1000 to them so that they would succeed over whatever is going on at this place. I feel sorry for wildlife in Alberta.

And my fave was to see some responses not even be accountable. The best narcissistic line I saw if someone expressed themselves was the typical “we are sorry you feel that way”. Now THAT is about what is Wild there. Pun intended.

Randy gave us an excellent experience. We had a raccoon issue and decided to give this place a call. We were beyond amazed with Randy's work; he's very talented, hard working and respectful. If we ever have anymore issues we will be calling Randy again. Thank you for the great work.
Amazing people! The amount of care put into the animals in care, is amazing!

I had a great experience with Randy from Swat. I have a row house in Toronto and I am hearing critters in my walls. He studied closely every corner of my house inside and out and the outside of my neighbours houses too working to diagnose what I was hearing in my walls. He took time and care and was super nice while at it. We are hoping we have the right plan. Would work again with Randy anytime. Thanks. Kim

Squirrel in the chimney, so had Tony come out to take a look. Looks like the squirrel had left, so we replaced the rusted out cap with a new one. While on the roof he found some other unsuccessful attempts to get into the attic from the roof vents! Appreciate the great service from the entire team at SWAT, and for helping to quickly resolve an issue with my invoice.

Persistent squirrels had returned to our home and were now in our attic. We gave Swat Wildlife another call and Randy came by the next day. He was very professional, punctual, and nice. He gave us options with what we could do and I appreciated that he also took photos to show us the before and after. We're so grateful that Randy helped us throughout it all. We hope we never have another squirrel issue, but if we do, we'll definitely ask for Randy again!

February 9th2024. I just call for help for a stray cat that is in bad shape an would have appreciated compassion for these animals after all isn't rescuing animals for? Their well being? No one to answer the phone " Leave a message! " And the ASPCA told me not to expect much help from them either! I said I would take my chances! Nothing! 😡👎👎👎👎👎My question is ; Are citizens the only ones that care and want to make a real difference in their quality of life? Are we the only ones that take notice that they are soul in another form like us? They bleed and suffer like us. They even come to us for help! This has to change.
This is my first time calling and most likely my very last! 😡
This location is just a PO Box at the UPS Store. Do not bother visiting the location. There is nothing there. Try calling instead.
Found a rabbit that couldn't use one of it's hind legs on my way into work. Around 9 am. Contacted these guys because I figured they'd know who to get a hold of. Gave them an intersection and location, as well as my number.

Got a call 2 hours later at 11 am from a guy that wouldn't stop coughing into the phone and told me he won't be helping and I needed to find a centre that helps rabbits. Is that not what you guys do here? Also, some phone manners would be nice. Coughing directly into the phone in between every sentence is... not necessary.

Anyways, so now I'm not sure what to do. He told me about a website I could navigate to find help for rabbits but again, I'm at work so I have limited time.

It's cold. I hope that poor rabbit is okay. I'm about to try to find a place that can actually help...

If you don't have any passion for your job, get a different one.
The best thing about this place is, they're truly very knowledgeable and I wish there were more "sanctuaries" like the Ontario Wildlife Rescue!! Very kind and caring, to the wildlife they rescue!!! Thank you for being you!!! 🤟👍👍😊
Very helpful and friendly. Brought an Eastern Milksnake in that they will overwinter until it can be released in warmer temperatures. You even get a patient number so you can check in on the critters you bring in for care. Highly recommend! ❤️
Very fast response and very diligent in their work. Very satisfied with my experience.
I found a badly injured Jack Rabbit a few weeks ago and called Calgary Wildlife Rehab. Their estimated response time was pretty accurate and the volunteer, Crystal, arrived with the necessary tools to catch the bunny. As heartbreaking as it was to see how much pain this rabbit was in, Crystal's empathy, courage, perseverance, and selflessness was incredible. She stuck with the task even though it took hours to catch the rabbit. She later updated us on the status of the rabbit too - they were able to put him to rest. I cannot thank Crystal and the team for all their hard work to protect our wildlife. Thank you so much for all you guys do. Consider donating to this organization, I promise it's worth it!
I’ve brought birds to this place and you can see that they love what they do. Very helpful if you ever have any questions.
We found a baby squirrel with damaged back paws and Ontario Wildlife Resque agreed to take her on Saturday night. Thanks a lot, Donna!
I volunteered here in the Wildlife Care department for 2+ years and I absolutely miss being here! It is the most rewarding feeling to be able to assist in the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and/or orphaned wildlife. The work they do here is absolutely amazing and I have the utmost respect for everyone who works and volunteers here. It is a beautiful thing when you see a fantastic team of people working together to take the very best care of these beautiful, innocent animals. I have only the best things to say about TWC and their entire staff.

I have rescued a few animals and brought them here to be taken care of. I highly recommend that if you see an injured animal you call in to their call centre right away and find out how to deal with the situation and bring the animals in for treatment. It is the right thing to do!

I miss being here so much!! I will be back soon. Thank you for all the hard work you do. This is an amazing wildlife centre! 💕

It is a wonderful organization! If you find an injured bird that’s where you go for aid. They walk you through how to capture the injured if you need it…appreciated this on my first call. Not only do they do everything humanly possible to get the injured back into their habitat but they also provide you with the number designated to the bird should you wish to call for an update! Fantastic staff doing wonderful work!
Impossible to get through to and the location is a UPS. If you go through the English language options on the phone, you cannot get through. Using the french option isn't better, no one answers. I have a baby squirrel here and drove an hour both ways only to find nothing.

I found a baby squirrel in my backyard. I phoned the city where I lived asking what to do.....they were no help at all! I knew not to touch it and watched it all day. Clicked on this website and it was so much more helpful. Poor thing had been out all day, Mom didn't come so as the website said we brought it inside for the night., kept it warm with a towel in a box. Took it back out this morning, it was very lively. Played the distress call and the baby started doing the same. Have been checking and can't see it so hopefully mom came. All I can say is thank you so much for the helpful info on your site!
It's pretty impressive that there is a place in the city that rehabilitates pigeons. A pigeon who was burned in a bridge fire, recuperating for 6 months. And amazing dedicated staff on a holiday morning working away quietly looking after wild animals, birds, squirrels. Yes, even squirrels get health care in Canada.

Too bad they're moving, the building to be torn down. Moving to Markham, way, easy out there, much harder to get to.

Small place, but nice to visit. Say hello, and commend the folks for the work they do.
We discovered a mother skunk and five babies living under our deck at our back door. i looked up what to do and found this site. We let her raise her babies until they were ready to leave…no problems. It was an amazing experience every time we caught sight of the mother tesching her babies how to live as skunks. They all moved out except one. He realised we ran a morning restaurant for an abandoned feral cat. He had to go. Back to this site i went for advice….we purchased a small lantern and placed it near an entry hole. do We thought he’d move out in a couple days….he packed up and was gone in 30 seconds never to be seen again. My cleaning lady also had a skunk (miles away…not mine) and used the lantern as a humane deterrent. Skunk problem solved. Thanks for the info
I tried to reach them about my lost cat, but never got past a French only answering machine where I left my name and number (as instructed), but never got a call back.
This animal rescue service works off of donations and is staffed by approximately 20 volunteers in the area of Montreal. They provide technical support and put their combined experience into play during animal rescues to ensure a best outcome. For “home rescues” a charge may be applied, but in the greater Montreal area, especially close to wildlife, this service is perhaps one of the best equipped for a successful rescue.

We brought several birds in the past but it was the first time in their new building. It's just a beautiful and amazing place. And the people are so incredible and kind.

Can't wait to get some good news of my poor mourning dove. I hope everything will be alright and that she is in better condition that it looked like when we caught her yesterday.

Let's keep donating to keep this place running! It's so amazing to know we have a safe haven for all our injured winged friends out there!
Grateful to this operation and the dedicated people who run it! I found an injured baby humming bird this morning and delivered it to their care. The intake was efficient and friendly. They even assigned a patient number so that I can reference for follow up. Thank you for providing this invaluable resource!
Sandy and Donna were every helpful they had no problem with taken the baby Squirrel we found yesterday its only 2 weeks old. I'm so thankful they were able to the squirrel in !

Ontario Wildlife Rescue refused to do anything about a baby raccoon with Distemper that's been coming into my yard daily for the last week. Both allowing an animal to die a HORRIBLE death and putting my dogs and cat at risk of a horrible death. Couldn't even put me in touch with someone who could help, which should be one of the main parts of their jobs. They aren't the only organization that did absolutely nothing. I called 8 or 9, all passing the buck to the next organization getting tax dollars to sit around with their thumbs up their a$$, including the city itself. Wish I could give no stars.

My dog destroyed a bunny nest that the mother then abandoned, I guess cause it smelled like dog. I tried returning them and she never came to feed them again.

Procyon quickly took them in and they are getting the care that I wish I could have provided, but that I know I'm too inexperienced to give.

I hope they live their best bunny lives!

A very attractive and well organized facility for the recuperation and release of wild waterfowl and songbirds. We transported two young birds from Ottawa.
On Sunday my neighbors and I found a young, injured seagull. Wildlife Rescue did their best offering guidance over the phone as to how we should care for the gull until we could arrange a volunteer pick up.
Unfortunately, a volunteer couldn't be found so I drove it out to them after work.
The staff were friendly and helpful when I arrived. Explaining what I needed to do and promptly taking the seagull to their onsite vet hospital.

Overall the experience was as seamless as it could be and I'm happy that there's somewhere like Wildlife Rescue helping the animals :)

I found two baby pigeons in a cardboard box in the parking lot, clearly taken off someone’s balcony and left to die. After I got them into a clean, warm, safe space, I left a message with TWC and they called me back in less than two hours to get more information and ask for photos and videos. I was so happy when they told me they could take the babies in! I just had to get them there the next morning. Couldn’t believe they took pigeons!! The staff were prepared for their arrival and walked us through what their next month or so would be like and provided me with their ID numbers so I could call for updates on them. So thankful those cuties will be well cared for until they’re big enough to fly off. Thank you SO much to everyone at TWC!!🐦❤️🐦
I wish I could recommend this organization. Unfortunately, I feel like they make decisions for animals based on their own priorities rather than the animals themselves.

I’ve brought several birds in with minor injuries and none have ever made it. Most recently, two young American robins. I had to keep these two for 24 hours. They were eating, pooping, and sleeping normally. I brought them in in great condition only be told the “animal’s conditions were beyond our ability to help and we are saddened to inform you that they have passed away”. It was a pretty automated response and, having rehabbed many birds of all ages myself, I don’t believe that they were beyond saving for a minute.

My one wish is that I would have just kept this last sweet, healthy pair and rehabbed them myself. If you have *any* other option for rescue, exercise it. They will likely euthanize the birds you bring to them.

Called at 10 am, left a voice message, then called 2 more times. No one answered the phone neither got a call back. Very disappointed
Always helpful.
This little guy fell into our window well, and a magpie was after it. We didn't realize what was happening, but when we did, we quickly saved it and called them, and they directed us on how to proceed.
I took in a little savannah sparrow that I came across unable to fly. I called and spoke to a woman right away and was able to bring in the bird immediately. Wildlife rehabs are such important places that provide critical services and are severely underfunded. If you can, please remember to donate if you bring in an injured or orphaned animal as a small “thank you”.
Absolutely fantastic.

They cared for months for a severely injured pigeon I found. It was amazing to hear all the updates of him slowly recovering, even when nobody knew if he would be able to make it, and seeing how much will to live that little guy had. Thanks to all who cared for him.

Donna is absolutely amazing, the most caring and knowledgeable professional. We found an abandoned, dehydrated 4 week old squirrel and took it in our home for the night. 311 wasn't much help and it was too late to call anyone else, so we figured how to handle it and what to feed it on our own (tip: unflavoured pedialyte mixed with warm puppy milk fed through a soft tip dropper + hot water bottles to keep the tiny squirrel warm). The next morning we called Ontario Wildlife Rescue and just hearing a kind, caring and reassuring voice on the other end of the line was a huge relief. We brought the squirrel to Donna, the kindest soul who's been taking care of animals for over 20 years and she took it in right away, treated it and reassured that it will be fine. Very grateful to Donna and Ontario Wildlife Rescue!
Gave them a call after a mum duck and about 10 ducklings got stuck in my back yard and then the neighbors back yard by going under the fence. Within hours they turned up early evening and relocated the duck family. Very happy how everything turned out.
We saw this organization at an event in Strathmore. Amazing show, amazingly educational, the kids had a blast and so did we. A real focus on facts and also that a lot of these animals are surrenders, and getting a pet should be a lifelong commitment

I found a juvenile starling with a broken leg, i spent a week to find somewhere taking care of bird. No private vet accepted the wild bird and finally some one recommended le nichoir. Except for injured leg he was so friendly, willing to live , playful and great appetite. I had a funny feeling that guys will have him to sleep in this place because it’s not a native bird and not a conservation concern, then said i will take a chance maybe they can fix the bird but bigggg mistake. I followed up and noticed he was euthanized same day due to a fracture near ankle. Im just shocked and can’t stop crying.

Thank You very much Donna for your care, knowledge and compassion. My friend and I found today little baby squirrel. I found on Internet info about Ontario Wildlife Rescue and I called them. Donna asked few question and had given to me precise instruction what to do with the baby squrrel. We did what she told us to do. When we arrived with the little one Donna showed not only knowledge about this type of animals but authentic love to living creatures. It was amazing experience for my friend and myself to meet Donna - so Special person. Thank you again to rescue little one. Barb and Mia.
This place is amazing! Found a 2 week old baby squirrel that fell from its nest and Ontario wildlife rescue came to pick it up! They were super friendly and helpful over the phone and in person. Other animal rescues denied the baby squirrel but this place took him in happily. You can really see that they care immensely for the animals and will do everything in their power to help injured or orphaned wildlife. Donna was absolutely wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and provided advice and reassurance. Her love for the animals is very clear and I knew without question the baby squirrel would be safe with her! I had found an orphaned raccoon in my neighborhood; after going through all the recommended steps as advised by the Toronto Wildlife Centre, the raccoon was not in my temporary care until I could find a rehabilitation clinic (last resort would be to call 311 and have the little guy humanely euthanized, I really didn't want to do this) everyone at this time of year was at capacity, no longer accepting animals. I called probably 12 rehab centres and Procyon was the only one who even called me back. Staff was incredibly helpful and amazing to interact with! I'm so happy they were able to take the little guy! Thank you!!
