Safe and affordable hotel in Cartagena. We booked this hotel on a short notice, as we didn’t like the hotel where we were before.
This hotel is so much better. The rooms are nice and clean, cute little balcony on our room as well. 24hr reception which is great and felt very safe. They offer free drinking water at the ground floor.
Room size is good for 2 people, there is a rooftop bar next door. One night we heard the music from the bar quite loud but after 11pm the music was turned down and we could sleep.
The staff is really nice and helpful, they offered laundry service as well.
There is a little breakfast, nothing special but it’s alright. Would be nice to have little more options for the breakfast.
Overall totally good hotel to stay and would definitely recommend and rebook.

The room was more akin to a prison cell and the lady in the front was rude. They also charge extra for foreigners which is not detailed on booking. The fan in the room was good.

One of the older hotels i have stayed at. I had a suite it was very big and amazing views but the carpet was in disrepair, the toilet wouldn’t flush completely (even after maintenance “fixed” it) Furniture was old and not very good

Well , went in and asked reception for a room . Was told price etc but would have to wait till it was cleaned . Went back and new girl jacked up the price . I have stayed there before . Foreigners watch out. Collected my bag and left . Hotel 20 meters away matched original price . Silly attitude.

Amazing hostel, but even if you don’t stay here, you MUST visit the cafe. We just ordered a hot chocolate and a coffee and the hot chocolate came with a cloud of sugar above it that dripped into the chocolate milk. Then my coffee came with a full demonstration and explanation by the woman serving us. An absolute MUST if you are in Minca. Hostel itself is also great, especially the view.

No wifi in dorms. Staff lazy to walk you in the dorms. Be prepared to walk up in the mountains with you luggages (at least 25 min). Dogs barking at 6am. Only veg food. They charge you more if u pay with card…

Good:
Beautiful sunset!

No kitchen for travellers - no free activities. They want you to buy food in their restaurant and tours from their agency. Good for a hike up to watch the sunset and have a beer at their bar but I would not recommend staying there and having to carry all your luggage up the hill.
Extremely good communication and very helpful owner, Oscar. Really great.

Loved my stay at Casa Loma. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The ambience was great. But upon checking the mirror when I returned home, I’m pretty sure I have bed bug bites :(
Be forewarned
Amazing value for the price, great staff and cute restaurant. The included breakfast is soooo good and they will give it to you to go if requested. We extended our stay twice. I recommend the deluxe double room!

Hotel itself is nice and has lovely views, the breakfast is fine. The main issue was I did not receive the room which I had booked as advertised through Booking. When I raised this with the concierge, he was unbelievably condescending, rude and offered no meaningful apology. The wifi didn't really work either.

LOVED my stay here, did not want to leave. I booked Casa Luna for 3 nights, which is in the far back with it's own private shower and bathroom, so my experience with the room may be different than those who stayed in dorms/hammocks but I found the room very comfortable and clean. I had plenty of space and the outdoor bathroom was super clean, as were the communal bathrooms by reception. The vibe here is amazing, everyones gathers on the deck for sunsets and it's a great chance to meet other travelers. Food was great, I had breakfast here everyday and dinner twice and beers are cheap. You can't beat the views and the music was always perfect. They cut the music around 9pm so it's easy to go to bed early. The hike up the hill to get there isn't easy but it's doable and worth it. I liked that this hostel was up in the hills but didn't require a moto taxi to get to from town. The staff was amazing at this hostel and I even got a massage and facial from Melissa, highly recommend! If you're not into bugs, don't stay here, but if you want an incredible experience in Minca and are looking to meet others I cannot recommend Casa Loma enough.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Loma. The food and views were excellent. The hike up wasn’t too tough. Tania helped us so much when we were there as we had to moves rooms a few times due to us booking separate nights. Our stay was excellent, thank you Tania
The best hotel in Manila. I absolutely love staying here. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and just amazing. The hotel, and the rooms are perfect. Always clean. I highly recommend staying here whenever you visit Medellin. The restaurant downstairs has delicious food and really tasty breakfast. The rooftop patio is great. Really fun vibes. This has to be my new favorite place to stay when I visit.
One of Medellin's gems! Great quality hotel, and the staff will make sure everything is perfect. They'll treat you like a friend! I don't event know how many nights I stayed there. Thank you!

This place is very beautiful, however, I would recommend staying somewhere else and just coming for sunset and drinks as the rooms are not worth the money. The vibe is cool but it was very hard to sleep at night - as you are outside there is a lot of bugs, they blasted music until 4am whilst I was there and then staff were speaking very loudly outside the dorm at 7:30am.

Pros:
Veggie food good and reasonably priced
Drinks reasonable too
Setting and sunset is amazing

Cons:
Beds are expensive and very basic
Steep uphill climb to get to it, which was really horrible with our bags
Rooms are very basic/outdoors which is fine but it’s really loud at night
Amenities could be improved
The hotel itself was great, cool industrial vibe, it has AC! Bed was comfortable and pillows were good

Only negative is the bartender at the attached resteraunt. Worst drinks I've had in a long time, My friends got mojitos, there was obviously no muddling the mint and limes where just a few intact chunks in the drink. I got a margarita and I usually just drink whatever and just wouldn't go back if it was bad but the marg was so bad I couldn't drink it. To their credit, the waiter offered to replace the drink without me having to ask.
So I got a rum and coke, thinking that is pretty hard to mess up... But I thought wrong, it tasted as if they put tonic in it?! And a lot of lime. I don't mind tonic usually but not in a rum and coke.

I didn't see a separate place to review the resteraunt and didn't want to penalize the hotel for that so I'm still giving my stay a 4 star rating. Just avoid the bar and the place is great 👍
Stockwerk!

2 points because the location was really good and the hotel has an awesome vibe. Also nice roof top bar.

But the rooms are super super small (too small for two people staying there). You can hear everything from the hallway or the people next to you and when someone above you flushes the toilet you will wake up.
There is no isolation to the street, so will hear a lot of noise from the surrounding bars and rooftop bars.

There were stains on the sheets. (Still washed)

No complimentary water/no mini bar

After the first breakfast I had to vomit. (Maybe the fruits or the cheese weren‘t good anymore)

We ordered an airport taxi via reception. In Medellin there’s a fixed rate for official taxis from and to the airport - always 90.000 pesos. We were picked up in a private car & the driver wanted to have 120.000 pesos (we saw the confirmation from the hotel). Kind of felt like a rip off. The receptionist didn’t even inform us, that it will be that expensive.

Medellin is great - but I probably wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

Amazing hotel, expensive for Columbia... but well worth the price.

We came up to the unassuming front door on the street to have it open out onto a total Oasis, which in turns looks out across the mountains.

They have taken a traditional house and turned it into something completely unique. They have kept all the quirky little spaces and have not shoehorned in as many rooms as possible.

This place is about the entire experience both in your room and in the communal areas, of which there are many spaces... inside, outside, small secluded settees, to wide open dining tables.

There is even a kitchen you are invited to use as they only prepare breakfast. And while our room had its own balcony and hammock with the largest walk in shower room come walk in wardrobe / dressing room I have ever seen, one of the other guests we were travelling with had a small kitchen, sofa and office space rendering it completely self sustained.

This has so far been the best night's sleep in our entire Colombian journey.

Staff is so nice - I stayed here for 12 days and they told me the first day that they only had a room with no window, but that they were going to move me to a window room the next day, since I was staying so long. They also will make breakfast for you, if you are staying in the hotel, later than the 10:30 cut-off. The breakfast is excellent and plenty of food, cooked fresh. The rooftop and the ground floor cafe are very beautiful and well laid out and comfortable. The rooms are small, but the beds are large and comfortable, as are the showers. Recommend 👌 great A/C too.

:) Location was close to a lot of the action in Poblado but also in a quieter corner, and a close walk to the metro. The shower was huge. There was an elevator. Breakfast was quite good - you just get to choose off the menu of the downstairs restaurant which includes full hot meals, not continental breakfast like a lot of hotels. Rooftop bar had a nice view out to the city too. AC worked really well.

:( The bed sheets were stained, I'm sure they were washed but please take a closer look to make sure they don't have stains before using them. Room was fairly small and not much storage space to unpack anything, but for a few days stay it was fine.
0 functioning Wifi on the whole hotel. Service was average. Hot tube not functioning (I see review a couple of month ago that it was already a problem that means they don’t really care) - bed quality is okay but room is damp. very average

I just wish I could have stayed longer here. Its a very beautiful hostel, the views of Minca and Santa Marta are incredible. It seemed to be doing great business as we wanted to extrnd our stay but it was booked out! The staff are amazing, I only got one of their names Tanya who was the front desk was really nice and helpful. The owner Stefan was so sound and we had great chats.

The atomsphere of the place seems very open minded and free. All the food in the restaurant is vegetarian and loads of vegan options. The food was amazing.

You must climb a relatively steep hill to get up there so please be aware of this, but it means that you get the best views of the sunset.

Theres also yoga studio and spa treatments which i should have availed of.

Lastly, theres kittens there at the moment and they are ADORABLE.

All of these factors made it probably my favourite hostel ive stayed in!!! Thanks for the stay 💚💚💚

Intimate and cute rooms with a very green view. Central location in El Poblado and close to many good restaurants. Staff were very friendly throughout the stay. The rooftop terrace is great and I would recommend going for a drink even if you're not staying at the hotel! The breakfast included tea or coffee, fruit juice, two eggs or omlette, cheese, a plate of fruit and a croissant with jam - for a small European girl, this was the right amount of food to not feel like I am wasting it. The hotel is next to the road and the single glazed windows can make it loud during the night, but I always bring emergency ear plugs on travels and was able to sleep fine.

Booked a room online w Ac (aire condicionado). Arrived to find they wanted to charge me triple for the AC. As it was 10pm I didn’t have much choice. Lady was super rude. Honor your reservations on Agoda! It’s not my fault, it’s yours.

First of all after arriving at midday the weather being stifling hot, this fleabag hotel doesn’t allow me into my room because it isn’t check in time, then they tell me that I booked for a “ventilated room’ ( meaning no air conditioning!!), once in the room the safe box is inoperable and even though they offer wifi THERE WAS NO WIFI! Then I find out their pool is out of order under maintenance that would not be ready until the following week. The room itself is incredibly bleak with no lamps but bare light bulbs!! The room was dirty and the entire complex is in desperate need of renovation. Next door to this fleabag is a nicer hotel that offers room at the same rate!! The reviews here are suspicious because THERE IS A LOT WRONG WITH THIS HOTEL.

good hotel, nice pool. They are very helpful and try to give you a good stay there. I wanted to change my room, it was no problem and i didnt have to pay extra. They let me store my backpack for a day when I didnt have a room anymore without extra cost. The location is perfect, with a beautiful view on the ocean from the shared balcony. I would definitely come back.

Oscar took such good care of us, the room was stunning, the mattress comfortable. This hotel is spacious and quiet, staff understand the importance of good service and attention to detail (thank you Sandra and Lina). The good reviews are well deserved.
I had the pleasure of taking the last room available for the weekend I was staying and I count myself lucky!

It’s a beautiful hotel with great design and detail. On top of that, reception was uber friendly and I loved their service.

Also, they actually properly disinfect rooms before check in.

Kitchen is absolutely beautiful. I wish I had time to use it.

Fully enjoyed the rooftop jacuzzi as well ♥️

The rooms are all different, some with a foam bed, some with firmer ones, some with a fan others without, some with a window, some with nicer showers.
The street is noisy so don't get a front room. I had to change twice before finding a comfortable room.
The whole hotel is full of artwork! Breakfast was very simple, eggs made to order, non-toasted bread, coffee and juice.
The pool was clean and as advertised.
The hotel is right across from the beach.
The Wi fi wasn’t working and we didn’t have any hot water to shower, the towels were really old! The reception guy was watching fútbol too loud when we arrived. Location and breakfast is very good!

The most terrible place I have stayed at.
The hotel does not provide hot water in the shower so your only option will be to shower with COLD!!! water.
My shoulder was frozen and I couldn't take a shower the first night. We had to find different hotel and the lady from reception desk (very rude) told us we'll get to pay for only one night (the one we stayed) but guess what?... 3 days later my credit card was charged for one extra night (we didn't use) and the property refused to return the money back.

The rooms are dirty and small. No windows. Very humid. Beds are very uncomfortable.
The door locks are a joke.
I didn't feel safe at all.
Besides, we were on the first floor and it was super noisy from the bars around so we couldn't sleep till 4am.

Do not waste your time and money for this place!
Just down the street for the next day we found beautiful place, nice and quiet, hot shower and a breakfast for the same price.

4.5 stars. Great location, across from the city beach so the air tends to be clean. There are many worthwhile bars, restaurants and markets within easy walking distance. Tourist prices abound in the immediate vicinity but walk five blocks and you'll find Colombian prices.

The room itself was small and a touch rundown but the hotel in general was nice with chairs on patios overlooking the ocean and a small swimming pool. If I return to Santa Marta I will stay here again.

In the Getsemani neighborhood of Cartagena which is adjacent to the walled city but not in it. Area has a lively vibe with many cool restaurants but I would definitely stay in the walled city instead of I was there again. The hotel has no elevator and immediately as you enter the front door you encounter a set of narrow stairs leading to the reception. Then another set to the very small rooms. Breakfast was meh. Would absolutely not return here and throw in more cash for one of the amazing, gorgeous, courtyard-style hotels we saw in the walled city - really did not like the location.

Excelent location. The lady at reception give you the best advice of what to do and where to go. Enjoy my time here. Room is a bit small but it is fine. Staff always open air-conditioned after cleaning room so you will feel so cool to get inside. Free coffee is quite nice, kitchen is clean and basic. Happy with my choice.
