Best Botanical gardens in Denmark

Definitely worth checking out this botanical garden! 🌿

It's very well maintained. Beautiful sculptures and pathways outside of the garden that are free to explore. The building inside comes along with the Copenhagen card and is highly recommended! Great for picturesque photography and is beautiful in the summer! The staff are all very helpful and polite.

The little lung in central Copenhagen. It is free except for the inside. But super beautiful and a great place to just get out of the busy streets of the City. It has benches, small ponds and lots of different faunas very nearly kept. We were there in July and the entire family enjoyed this

We haven't seen much of the outdoor part as the sky opened. The pond with water lilies and floating duck's nest was beautiful. The indoor areas were stunning! Palm houses and butterfly house was the highlight of our Copenhagen trip

A very lovely place to visit and take a slow walk around. The greenhouse temperature frequently changes so I would wear something you can easily take off / put back on for your visit inside.

If you have a Copenhagen card you get free entry into the greenhouse with a separate line to enter at the ticket booth. Just show them your QR code for them to scan and you're all good to go!

really beautiful place great gardens, and lots of varieties of plants and animals with a beautiful butterfly menagerie. I really liked, especially the first two greenhouses, the last one I think could use more interesting plants but overall it was a great experience and really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend if you are a nature person or love butterflies

Beautiful gardens to relax and absorb the peaceful surroundings. Half a nap on the lawn. The greenhouse was lovely and quite warm, so dress in layers! If you have low blood pressure or suffer from heat, it's not a good idea to venture to the top ring of the main greenhouse. The butterfly house was amazing! Nice experience to see the cocoons opening and the butterflies being born. Hear the chant of the tiny frogs. Definitely worth the visit.

Stunning botanical gardens. The outdoor portion is free and really just a nice park. I recommend paying for entry to the tropical greenhouse and butterfly exhibit. They had a great variety of plants. Be warned, one or two of the greenhouses are very hot and humid — wear layers! The butterflies were extraordinary and it was cool being so close up.

Really nice and cozy garden in city center.
Not that big, but has a variety of plants and trees, a nice lake and some nice paths to walk on. Perfect for short walks or sitting and enjoying a cup of coffee. Nice in all seasons but specially nice in spring and summer.
Has a nice palm house in the middle which is not free anymore, but worth visiting.
The guards are usually not that friendly and try to throw everyone out 20-30 min before closing time.

Interesting building and many tropical plants to see. Our ticket also let us see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition over a 48hr period. Worth it for the excellent photographs.

If you have the Copenhagen card and you enjoy plants the greenhouse deserves to be visited. It contains a lot of different plants from different biomes (tropical, desertic and mediterranean)

I went there twice (at the end of summer and the middle of autumn) and I don’t get enough of it!
It’s a free open garden with a pond, paths, a café and benches all around. It’s such a beautiful place to visit, relax, appreciate plants and maybe have a picnic or a reading moment. Each plant or tree that you see have their own sign indicating the name of it. The garden has also the Palm House which is a big crystal greenhouse, beautiful to see from the outside! To get in you need to book a ticket first which i haven’t done yet.
I would recommend checking the weather and the opening hours before visiting it so you can be chill about the time, since they start asking you to leave like 15 minutes before closing. Also, maybe check their website for special exhibitions that you may be interested in.
Also, not all of the paths are accesible for wheelchairs, but most of them are.

Nice garden! Many and varied botanical plants. Inside there is not much room to walk and on days when it is busy it is almost impossible. The butterfly house was deff the highlight of it all. Beautiful place to make pictures and it's free with a Copenhagen card!

What an amazing place, so pretty. The butterfly house was a real understated magic. Cannot recommend enough, really worth visiting on a nice day.

I totally recommend you to visit this place. It was a must see and we even paid so little for what we saw here. The plants are so various and beautiful and the butterfly area it’s amazing!

An autumn visit in the rain for me. Sadly, quite a bit of the gardens were inaccessible due to renovation work which are part of a long term project reaching into 2025.
But the gardens breathe out their relaxing walks, and variety of shrubs and trees along the meandering pathways. The huge ponds reflect the skies beautfully and are even amazing in the rain. I can easily imagine their beauty in better weather!
The gardens form art of Natural History Museum at the Univeristy of Copenhagen, holding the largest collection of preserved plants in Denmark. Impressive!

Entrance to the gardens is free (incl toilets). The design of the magnificent iron and glass Victorian Palm House (1872-74) was inspired by Crystal Palace in London built for the 1852 Great Exhibition. Tickets need to be bought to visit this.
The gatehouse sells guides, souvenirs as well as small plants. Plants are botanically labeled and clear to see for most.
Overall a very pleasant and interesting visit. Will have to return on a sunny day once the renovation work is complete. :)

Ever since I was a little boy I've just loved coming here and experience all these exotic plants. Huge palmtrees, gorgeous flowers and strange cacti. And as a grand finale of the tour, the deeply fascinating butterfly hall with butterflies in all the colours of the rainbow.

Outstanding! Truly! I loved this place. Once inside you feel like you’re walking in a forest, or jungle at times! A vast array of trees, plants and flowers. The butterfly room was a highlight. The gardens outside are stunning too, and lovely secluded areas with benches and water running by. Really relaxing.

A very nice place to visit in Copenhagen, free entrance except the palm tree house. The place is undergoing maintenance, still a lot of green space, plenty young ones with kids, a nice pond, a lot of species of flowers and plants. A nice shop at the entrance makes available to buy water, ice cream and souvenirs.

The botanical gardens are a fun attraction. The little kids will like it but may get bored. They will love the butterfly garden. In the middle dome it has 2 levels. Be warned that the top section is like a sauna.

At the moment, the garden is undergoing a lot of renovations, so not all areas are accessible. The parts that are, are beautiful. I especially love the cactus garden hill area. Very neat!

Portable toilets available and plenty of benches to sit on and ponder life.

I ADORED visiting the Palmehuset at the Botanical Gardens in Copenhagen! Such an impressive collection of plants, species and specimens from various climates and environments worldwide. The chance to go up high in the middle greenhouse, to see the palms from above was really cool. The Butterfly House also, worth a visit alone! Very beautiful and tranquil!

Botanical garden, beautiful for walks or just relax in beautiful nature. There is a lake and water lilies. We were not inside the botanical garden due to a large group of students. So I recommend coming in the morning to enjoy the tour without so many people. Admission to the park is free

I had a wander around Copenhagen and found the Botanical Gardens. What a lovely place. There was a lot of work going on, so I couldn’t explore the whole gardens, but it was evident that a lot of work has already been done. The parts that had been refreshed were beautiful to walk around and I even managed to squeeze in a delicious ice cream from a vendor in front of the glasshouse. I would love to return once the work has been completed and would recommend the gardens to anyone. They were clearly a popular spot to chill and relax on a warm day.

Lovely plants and paths, and the arrangements were unique. The park seems a bit small but that's to be expected in a city center. Didn't see the palm house because it was closed when I was there. The rainy weather meant it wasn't too crowded--the second time I went during sun and there were too many people for my liking. Worth a visit either way.
