Pop in to ask for a note to be changed. We don't have coins heard. So bought an envelope and they did have coins ? For customers? Well normally I buy there stuff but from now on will avoid this shop. Just lost a customer but probably they have too many customers. Please don't bother with them 😉

A reasonable sized shop having Indian and other Asian food items. It's well stocked and you will find most of the Indian items there (not sure of other countries). A big advantage is that it has a post office. The timings are also quite good as it is open till late so you can do the shopping on the way home from work. Prices are competitive as there is another Indian store next door and another Asian shop as well. Overall a good place to go to get Indian groceries.

The fact it is a post office but is consistently never open at 9am despite advertising as such is really inconvenient.

It has all things indian together with the addition of a post office. All spices and herbs together with almost all vegetarian items including fresh vegetables can be bought at this grocery. It is noted that this shop is all vegetarian.
All items for an Indian family are available here. The place is nice and staff is helpful. Only downside for me, it's a bit costly.
I do like this place, but after buying milk that smelled off one day after purchase (despite being well within date) and on another occasion buying frozen prawns that stank from the moment I opened the bag I can’t recommend buying fresh food from here.

Nice collection of Indian groceries and vegetables. The vegetables were fresh. They have a good collection of Indian spices too. Found Dant Kanti tooth paste there which wasn't available in a few other Indian grocery shops. They also had a few Indian sweets like rasmalai, gulab jamun etc.
They have good range of asian products hut unfortunately Many times I found them over charging for the items. Prices mentioned on the shelves were lower but at the til they charged more on different occasions. Most of the times they said price tags were not changed on the shelves and just a couple of times they accepted and charged lower price.

The prices are very high compared to other retailers and they also selling expired products.
We recently shifted to Manchester and this has become our go to place to order almost all our Indian groceries and Gupta ji has been always on time to deliver the items at our doorstep. Shop here without any doubt!

A really great store! Accessible, affordable, pretty good selection of goods, and they accept card payments. I bought plums there while in season, and they were some of the most delicious plums I've ever had. Great groceries! If you live around White knights, you should definitely come around here for your weekly shops or pick me ups
Be careful when buying Indian masala powder as most of it is out-of-date. Check the expiration date before making a purchase.

If you like chili that is really hot, not that fake hot western chili on lidl, then you have to come here, buy the red thai chili, its asian hot chili, you just have to select the chili yourself to get the good one, because you buy ny the gram

Really love this shop!! Each time I visit my family in Reading its always on my. Everyone so kind and helpful and I just love seeing the variety of food and spices available ! I always need to make space for packets of spices to take back!

Hi all, Always ask for a bill from this shop and carefully read it. This old lady / owner belives in duplicate charging and will intentionally do it. If it happens once then it could be due to a mistake but not everytime.
Scanning machine will have different price of an item than the price tag.
An example - bought two haldiram boondis with £1.29 tag on it. She charged 3 * £1.99. Couldn't belive it. What a rip off.

This is well located and there is adequate free parking in the adjoining lanes. The store itself is one of the few Indian / Asian stores in the area and hence probably the opportunism. Most goods are exorbitantly priced and I will not be visiting his place again for this reason.
It is cheaper to stock up on goods when you visit Falcon or some of the Indian stores in London as the price - value proposition is much superior. Inflation affects all businesses whether in London, Leicester or Cambridge so that cannot be an explanation for pricing items at 1.5 - 2x the price in other places.

Always friendly and obliging, I get most of my fresh meat here now. Wide range of fresh veg, tins, spice mixes etc.
The NJ grocery have got lots of nice stuff but I had a very bad experience this past Friday. I was sold a rotten a 2 kg meat🥩. When I called to complain the only thing they could say was next we will give a good one, busllshit. I would advise to check out the meat before leaving the butcher. It seems like they’re only interested in the money not the costumer’s well being.

All the items comes with best quality and vegetables if they are not good , those will not be delivered . Awesome experience and it's been 22 months ordering min 40-50 GBP a week

Absolutely pathetic staff and pathetic managers, I recently purchased daawat extra long basmati rice 5 kg bag and the product is not basmati, could be one odd bag with faulty product and went to return, the manager whose name is Nalayani started arguing that you don't know how the basmati rice look like, she has no customer service experience, I don't know how she has been doing what she is doing, she asked me to approach the manufacturer, if I have to approach the manufacturer then why this store is selling the products, I would highly recommended not to buy products from this store, there are better stores in reading area who has best in class customer service and excellent products. I have returned the bag but she didn't offer the refund or exchange which is fine as I won't visit the store anymore

Apna Desi Cart is probably the best Indian grocery store I have come across. I have been buying groceries and Indian vegetables for nearly 6 months, all delivered to home. I could find almost anything including a variety of rice, pulses, masalas, snacks with fantastic quality and reasonable rates. The vegetables are very fresh, though delivered on weekends. They are very polite and courteous always delivering on time. If you are new to Manchester and are wondering where to get the Indian groceries, do not think twice. I would highly recommend Apna Desi Cart. Thank you for your services.

This shop spots African and Asian foods of various varieties, they also have foods from other countries. There are also snacks of different varieties from Africa, Asia and other countries. One thing I love about this shop is that once you make large purchases and you don't have a bag, you will be given a free bag. I have a friend who made large purchases and got a bottle of wine as complimentary gift.

Fresh vegetables and a very large variety of spices and ingredients. My only critique is I wish the guys at the meat counter would wear gloves. I understand I’ll cook the meat anyway but it would make me feel less wary if gloves were worn at all times.

Stop selling expired products! How many gentle reminders do you need? Your excuse is that people still want to buy it at discounted prices. But you still keep the products in a regular shelf. It’s 3 months past the best before date, you’re not allowed to legally even sell it!!
Best i feel as about Very good staff, vivid collection and price is also reasonable. Plenty of brands are available and almost all kerala item's is available. Parking is good.. I used buy goat regularly from this shop.

Shopping for the last 1.5 years, always had a great experience. Never found stuff out of stock. The staff is very friendly, always smiling and helpful, and never had any issues with the owner as well. Great price and fresh groceries.
Litter blowing all over the road from their disgusting overflowing, fly-blown bins to the rear of the shop right next to where they store their meat. Customers illegally parking on double yellow lines making access over junction dangerous. Inconsiderate trader, avoid.

Agree we get a lot of Indian foods here, however also keep an eye on the expiry date while buying the packaged groceries. I am surprised to see shop selling products post expiry date. I bought the expired items twice without knowing. But this time I see a note about the expired date too. That's brave! Really brave to inform the buyer that your product is expired.
Excellent store. The salesperson is super helpful and polite. Really a nice guy! Lucky to have this excellent store close by. Yes it's small, the aisles can be cramped but it can't be helped the building is small. If you're a fan of Indian snacks and other food like pratas this is the place. Oh and it has a full service Post Office!

I highly recommend Apna Desi cart. I have been shopping with them since 6 months now , was very happy. You can find wide varieties of South/ North Indian options, rates are reasonable and will be delivered to your home, especially choice of snacks is unbeatable.

Best indian grocery in the locality. We get each and every Indian delicacy here in this store. Though it's a little unorganized and very congested, still we have no other options except going here for weekly groceries.

The best shop to buy south Asian foods to be specific south Indian foods. However, people from other places shop here. Their main attraction are seasonal grocery, fruits and vegetables. A variety of rice, lentil, spices, pickles, biscuits, dried fruits are available. They have a halal butchery back of the store which also sells variety of puja essentials too. They have Indian sweets. Bit weird but it's far far away home so Gods and goddesses must understand 😆. They have deep freezers full of frozen meat and foods.

Good store, will get all kinds of varieties from India and Asian countries. Huge selection of Spices, herbs, flour, Lentils, fresh vegetables, all variety of Rice. Only the place to get the Sona Masoori rice. Love the place.
