Newly renovated power station into stores and restaurants
honestly the ferry crossing is so fast from one part of Scotland to another. i take these yearly and have been going up to Shetland every year since 2020. staff is normal for a ferry and i have no idea for the reviews below 4 stars!
The boat didn't stop at vauxhall, despite us being told on the jeti that it would. It was made worse by a quite aggressive member of staff who blamed us for not telling him we wanted to stop there?! He then lied telling us that the boat had stopped and an announcement had been made. He then vanished back into the staff room to hide. It was appalling, he actually made my young niece cry. On our way off the boat, the people around us that had heard approached us to tell us that we were completely right, it hadn't stopped and they heard no announcement! The boat had arrived late, so we figured they hadn't wanted to stop there, so didn't. It was meant to be a nice way to end a holiday, but we ended up rushing to catch a train with a bad taste in our mouth.
Great place with great design, very quiet. I would recommend going there, since you can jump on a boat here and then you can see the Parliament and the Big Ben from Water.
We booked a room on the Aberdeen - Shetland Northlink ferry. I found the staff to be very nice and the accommodations very well priced. For just an extra 5 pounds you can even get a view from your room. The food was only okay though, but I loved all the emphasis on local sourcing. You got the impression that they took a lot of pride in their work which is great.
Got on the boat into central London and I was able to see some great views. It does take longer to get to places and it does cost a lot more, however it is worth it if you are not in a rush. Battersea power station to tower bridge was 25 minutes. Got on the boat on a weekday and was the only ones.

Shame that some of the seats were broken so it was not possible to sit on some that were outside.
In the winter months, the Uber Boat provides a commendable journey. But summer? My word, the docks are an absolute shambles. The staff there seem utterly aloof, bordering on negligent, making one feel as if they’ve never been properly trained. The sheer audacity to have one wait for nearly 40 minutes, only to direct us incorrectly! Thankfully, once aboard, the crew is an utter delight, proving that some semblance of class still exists within the company.
Modern shopping centre within a former power station. Visited in June 2023. The food and dining options have improved dramatically from last year and the same can be said about shops.
We booked the Northlink Ferry for our trip to Shetlands. First, would recommend a cabin if possible. These book out quickly so you will need to book early. If you miss out on a cabin there is a waiting list, people will cancel their trips so you might get lucky. The cabin also includes entry to a separate lounge, with breakfast included. The weather can be rough between the mainland and islands. Apparently, if there are slip mats on the tables when you board it will be an interesting night trip.
Loved it just so well done great history brilliantly developed great places to eat and very festive.

Northlink Ferries! What a fantastic trip to Orkney. Boarding process super easy, you can check in your luggage so you don't have to bother with it on board.

Little shop on the ferry for souvenirs, drinks and snacks. Cafeteria serves good food. Pods are a great way to travel, super comfy and cosy.

Wonderful journey!
Friendly staff and a great experience to see London by boat. Special thanks to the attendant who helped us today with our 45 students.

Arrived Aberdeen on North Link ferries from Lerwick via Kirkwall. Great ferries, smaller than Stena Lines which do the Europe mainland to UK, but big in overall comfort and experience, despite smaller cabins.

Friendly, caring and professional crew on the ferry make it an overall delightful experience. The Magnus lounge is well equipped with magazines, newspaper, complimentary teas, coffee, water, drinks and fruits. Access is per upgraded cabin, a few extra pounds that gives you a kettle and tea / coffee facilities in the cabin. We thought the convenience was worth the extra cost. The Magnus lounge was a bonus.

The restricted entry Lounge shares the kitchen with the main dining area, for the same prices. Good choice of menu with vegetarian and vegan options also available. Good quality and generously proportioned food.

Since the ferry turnaround is not till evening, they give you an extra hour to disembark after docking in port.

There’s luggage trolleys provided for foot passengers as soon as you exit the ferry, and the lift to the terminal is right there, if you prefer not to take the stairs.

Definitely a better option to flying, as you have the choice to take your car with you. Great for traveling, and exploring in your own.
Very smooth sailing, dog friendly cabin is amazing! Dogs loved their biscuits and took the worry away about them being scared in the kennels!
Going to Shetland Islands. It's an overnight sailing. We got a twin room. It has a toilet and shower 🚿. The water pressure is really powerful. Warm water is available. We were thinking of getting two pods but we were pretty happy in bed under the cosy duvet. There is a kettle in the room and some tea and instant coffee. I had my own green tea and 2lt of water bottle which worked out pretty well.
Dinner was good. I wasn't planning to have dinner on board but when I saw the slow cooked lamb, I couldn't say no to it.
The room felt a little cold. I had a short and tank top for sleeping. It might have been better to have long pjs.
I sailed from Lerwick to Aberdeen. I’d have preferred a 2-share cabin but it was not available. The 4-share cabin was tight but expected. Kettle jug and coffee/tea provided. Bath towel provided too. Bathroom was very clean, water warm/hot. Our crossing was quite smooth despite strong winds. We were informed to come earlier, leaving 30 minutes before scheduled. The breakfast was very good. Less than perfect were the staff at both terminals who were impatient although not outright rude. Pricing I believe in quite reasonable. Bookings can be made online and ticket collected just prior to departure using a number.
