Reviews

This group is not a church but a controlling organization that distorts biblical teaching. They preach salvation by works, contradicting the true gospel of grace, and use manipulative tactics to isolate and dominate members. Their recruitment methods are predatory, targeting vulnerable individuals and pushing them to sever family ties or abandon commitments under the guise of “discipleship”.
They dismiss the wider Christian community and demand re-baptism into their group, fostering division and exclusivity. Be cautious; this is not a safe or gospel-centered community.

Really unpleasant experience reaching out to a priest here to talk about my problems. He told me to ‘eat humble pie’ and there’s a ‘problem with generation’. I was really expecting compassion and to hear the word of God.

Good place for worship and very nice facilities but for some reason, the priest never came to the 6pm mass, (date: December 1, 2024).
Had to leave to attend the Westminster Cathedral Mass instead. I wish there would be more open information of the priest not attending.

This is the second time I’m here. I love the Church a lot.

I attended eicc with my sister when we were visiting Edinburgh for day, and man, God is moving here ! 🔥🔥 we immediately felt welcomed into the community and were taken care of. Loved the preaching, and worship. Highly recommend if you are stopping by or looking for a united family!

Coming here was transformational! I’ve never seen people so open & honest about their lives. The Bible studies answered questions I had all my life. I love how everything ties back to the Bible rather than just mere opinion. Great community and love!

Highly recommend this church for anyone seeking a church home where faith is lived out in love, grace, and action!
Since my very first service, I’ve grown deeper in my relationship with God while building meaningful relationships with others
The worship services are so powerful and uplifting. I always leave feeling encouraged and spiritually enriched
The EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH is definitely the place to experience both genuine community and spiritual growth. It really helps me feel a deep sense of belonging. The welcoming and warm embrace of being amongst God’s people is like no other!

Ive struggled to find a church that’s full of young people that have biblical convictions, until now. The dedication these people have towards God and seeking and saving the lost is incredible! I love the Bible studies they do! It’s not just about Sunday service there, it’s about living a biblical life like the disciples did in acts. These guys are the real deal! Will definitely be back!

Amazing! Is beatiful see all people of different nacionality praiaing the Lord!

Very welcoming, passionate and lively community and life groups! If you're looking for a place to grow and serve God, this is the church for you.

Enjoyed our visit to the Cathedral, great architecture and free to see.

The event was everything you could want. The venue was beautiful, the music was beyond our expectations. Personnel were extremely friendly and helpful. A lovely evening, would definitely recommend

An awe-inspiring old building from 1120 with the surrounding graveyard. Inside is similar to many cathedrals but the central "arch" is unusual! Lovely stain glass windows . During our visit the organist was practicing so added to the spiritual feeling of the church.

We chose to take the bus, but it is also walkable by foot as the area is very beautiful. It was Sunday so there was an event there, organ playing as well, very nice. You can also admire the meadows.

Lovely Cathedral to walk around. We did a self guided audio ghost tour around the area which brought more of it alive. It is worth a walk through the cemetry to see nature reclaiming grave stones and the huge trees.

Hillsong London was exactly as we expected. The people were warm, friendly, and inviting. Our son enjoyed kid's church and we were able to watch service while playing with our two year old.

What an amazing performance. Myself and my mother would like to thank candleight and the performers for this evening the beatles are my mothers favourite band. We will definitely be attending another one of these spectacular nights xx highly recommend everyone was so warm and friendly too xx

At the Dominion theatre Tottenham CT Rd. Pentecostal, lively , sincere worship. A heart for service. A great place for Pentecostal Christians to meet others. Some inspiring preachers and music in the prosperity Christian mould that is worth exploring. I have attended Hillsong London since it's earliest days on an ad-hoc basis and liken it to Christmas - a true delight and blessing but only now and again . For others, this Hillsong way is ideal to support their spiritual life all the time. And if nothing else it's a great experience to queue to get into Church and be part of that witness to passers by!

Beautiful Cathedral. One of the "must see " in Cardiff.
15- 20 m drive from Cardiff Castle or centre.
Car park 1 min walk from cathedral "FREE of charge 2 h" wich is just enough time to visit.
If u are lucky like we got, u can enjoy even the music played at "pipe organ"

Beautiful cathedral which is just a short drive from the centre of Cardiff. A mixture of old and new with the cathedral itself opening in 1290 AD. Not so keen on the modern sculpture inside though.

I was a member of this church for quite a few years. From the outside, it looks like an amazing church and it is, to a certain extent. However, I encountered a lot of abuse in this church from innappopriate sexual remarks (which are passed off as 'jokes') from one of the pastors to emotional abuse from people in leadership. I have been putting off sharing my experience for a while now as I have put all of this behind me and I have friends who still go to this church so I did not want to be attacked by anyone. However, recently I have been encouraged to share my experience in the hopes that what I went through does not happen to anyone else.
I believe there are a lot of people who have being abused in this church who are afraid to speak up as City on a Hill does not create a safe place for people do so. They talk about "safeguarding practices" but I believe this is just to save their backs , there is a difference in having procedures in place to safeguard people and actually following it through.
At the start of last year I was going through an extremely tough time and I was emotionally abused by someone in leadership, I brought this up with two pastors and I asked for what I shared to be kept confidential. A week later I was verbally attacked by the person I reported as they found out through a pastor what I had shared. I was at a very vulnerable stage at this point that this person started gas lighting me to a point I started to believe what I went through never happened and I started to apologise (it did happen and there are witnesses). I also found out that this pastor was also being mentored by this person. I was extremely traumatised by this experience and I left this church but it also affected my faith so much that I stepped away from my faith for nearly a year.
If you are looking for a church that will support you and be there for you, this church isn't the one for you. City on a hill is heavily understaffed. I was close to a female pastor from this church who would constantly share with me how much stress she is under working for the church and I was very concerned for her at the time because I knew she had health issues and I asked her to bring it to the attention of the main pastor, Pastor Pete. She said she has but there is nothing that can be done. Since they are understaffed and pastors are under so much pressure, a lot of people in the congregation who are vulnerable and need support don't get the support they require. This church like some people have mentioned here is so focused on planting churches that they spread themselves too thin and they are running on fumes.
I have only shared part of my experience so that people would be a bit more vigilliant and cautious. If you notice any red flags, please leave as soon as you can and if anyone reading this has gone through abuse at this church, I really hope you will share. I have noticed that church abuse always comes to light one way or another.
You only realise the extent to how toxic a church is when you start going to churches that are very healthy, loving and supportive that do not tolerate abuse on any level. City on a hill excuses a lot of toxic behaviour by saying "We are an imperfect church with imperfect people".
City on a Hill I really hope you examine your leaders/pastors before you give them a platform to mentor and preach to people.

A caring community church for the people by the people. Loved The Hollies . I am going back on Sunday .

Step into the enchanting history of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, a timeless gem between Covent Garden Market and the Strand. Unveiled in October 1874 by the esteemed Cardinal Manning, this architectural marvel embodies a spiritual journey that transcends centuries.
Corpus Christi, often lovingly referred to as the "Actor's Church," has become a haven for those in the performing arts. Beyond its historical significance, the church is adorned with statues and images depicting saints who fervently defended the Church's teaching on the real presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
This sacred space beautifully intertwines tradition with the arts, creating a unique ambiance that resonates with worshippers and artists alike. The profound connection to Cardinal Manning adds depth to the narrative, marking a milestone in the church's enduring legacy.
As you explore the hallowed halls, you'll discover a spiritual retreat embraced by a diverse community. Despite its central location, Corpus Christi attracts parishioners who, drawn by its cultural significance, proudly claim it as their spiritual home.
In every corner, echoes of the past blend seamlessly with the vibrancy of the present, making Corpus Christi Catholic Church a living testament to faith, culture, and the enduring power of architectural beauty.

I am very grateful to have this church community in my life, and I just thought it would be nice to share my experience.
I became a Christian two years ago and to be able to grow and walk in my faith with others who love Jesus, through all the ups and downs is such a blessing.
I know some of the leaders reasonably well, and I'm sure they would agree with me that they aren't perfect :) . But what I would like to say is I see how they live and it is filled with integrity, honesty, gentleness and love. I trust them.
Genuinely had no idea life could be this way until Jesus found me 😊.
I am a real person by the way (beep boop), my name is Andrew Norby I am 23. I love getting to tuck my trousers into my socks and cycling about free in the knowledge my trousers won't get caught in the bike chain.
"We love because he first loved us."

A place of SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION!
My journey at Edinburgh International Christian Church as been nothing short of extraordinary.
From the first moment I walked through the doors for my very first time experiencing church. After enduring the lowest phase of my life. I felt enveloped by a profound sense of warmth and belonging that is rare to find.
I experienced what true worship was for the first time and it was soul-stirring, carrying a divine presence that draws you closer to God.
The sermons delivered here, are not just any words; they are life-changing messages the speak directly to the heart. Sermons are always delivered, showing dedication to preaching God’s word(Bible), expressing passion, authenticity, charisma, relevance and true inspiration. Every Sunday, I leave with practical wisdom and spiritual insights that impact my daily life as a “Christian”.
What sets Edinburgh International Christian Church apart is it’s diverse community. It’s a place where everyone is genuinely welcome, regardless of background or status. The love and compassion shown here is a true testament to Christ’s teachings. I have had the privilege to witness countless acts of kindness and support that have profoundly impacted myself alongside others lives.
In a world where so many are searching for meaning in life, I’ve found Edinburgh International Christian Church to be a place of spiritual transformation. It’s a sanctuary of hope, faith and love. The impact it’s had on my life, as well as countless others, is immeasurable.

Welcoming to all ages and full of the love of Jesus. Amazing Kids work and right through. My grandchildren have made great friends one is 7 and the other 16. The worship is so real and genuine. The presence of Our Lord and Saviour just fills your very soul if you open your heart to Him

Update in response to Dan:
Of course this is a typical church response - denying any claims of abuse or lack of support especially since this is a public platform. Seems to me by the number of people who like my review, I am not the only one sharing similar experiences.
I was on your database but I left last year.
In regards to Richard and Annabel, of course they are not going to accept they made such claims. I have constantly encouraged my friend to come forward with the horrendous emotional and mental abuse she was put through by them but she refuses based on the fact that she has already spoken to leadership before and no one believed her.
She received the same response "Richard and Annabel deny such claims and it was seriously misrepresented" What an amazing safeguarding system you have in place.
Most people at City on a Hill know Richard and Annabel do go around calling themselves "Prophets" and has also taken upon themselves to mentor young adults and break them free from "demonic oppression".
My advice to anyone reading this, is to go to this church if this is where you think God is calling you to be. However, use your discernment too.

It has taken me a year or so to pluck up the courage to share my experience. Most of the five star reviews written here are by the pastor (Pete Anderson), by people who work for the church or are close to the leadership team. My purpose of writing this review is not to deter anyone from going to this church but more to share things they might encounter because I wish someone did the same for me.
I found this church to be very toxic. The preachings are great but everything else i.e. the pastors and members of the church are toxic. I have been with this church for a while (they formed in 2021 after splitting with Destiny Church). The church is extremely focused on growth. There is nothing wrong with growth but it becomes unhealthy when they neglect the needs of the existing members of the church and local community. There are so many people in this church seeking support but the leadership team does not have the capacity to help because their resources and finances are spent on planting churches globally. There is zero support if you are going through hardship and I have seen this happen to too many people time and time again and it has been heartbreaking to see.
I would also be careful of a couple called Richard and Annabel. They call themselves 'prophets' and they come up to you to prophecy and if you don't want to be prophesied or if you don't accept their prophecy, you are considered to be under demonic oppression. They also have a tendency to go up to young couples and say 'The lord wants you to be married'. This happened to a friend of mine and she and her partner were devastated when they split up this year. She had reported this to two pastors and asked it to be kept confidential. However, Richard and Annabel found out and she was verbally reprimanded by Richard. It was very heartbreaking for me to see how much damage it caused her and her faith.
Please don't be fooled by all the smiles when you first come to church. I was part of the welcome team and we were constantly reminded to be energetic and smiling. I have seen a lot of backstabbing and gossiping in the church so I have learnt to be very careful with what I shared when I was at church.
What I have shared here was my own experience but your experience might be different. Going to this church really hurt my faith and I pray no one ever has to go through that.

Beautiful church with lovely cafe

Wonderful church. Felt really welcome in this lovely community. Easy to find venue and a great service.

Corpus Christi Church is tucked at a small street filled with many eateries. It’s like a oasis within a bustling neighborhood. It’s such a big contrast to the other establishments within the block. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Attended Good Friday and Easter Sunday sermons during this visit to London. A home away from home church

Amazing experience of praising God. 2nd time here, sooo blessed and uplifted. God is good.

Great place to be. Just that if you are a new comer or have been going there for years, people will walk past you as though you don't exist at all. Young adults are lost somewhere between Anglican and be the wanna be charismatic. Dozens of people will walk past you, not even making eye contact, until you happen to create a conversation. It's a cultural thing. On one side, you have 50+ and 60+ olds who love to talk to newcomers in the church. On the other hand, the 20+ and the 30+ choose their tribe consciously.
Give yourself a year or two before you join a group and slowly make friends. And then you will find yourself talking to the same people every Sunday and you forget that you dont talk to new faces. Be a mystery worshipper and figure out yourself. Or come and challenge me if you disagree. Very long way to change the culture.
To me, the change has to come from top to bottom. Not one person entering the church should leave the building without having spoken to anyone in the building. Unfortunately, this does happen here.
A charming, humourous, and very knowledgable vicar and his warm welcoming wife (oh, she is Irish, loud, lively, lovely) will greet you for sure if you are new in the building. Be prepared to be that seed that grows past a rock if you want to make friends.
Other than that, it's a church where you can contribute time and talent.
Children's church under Ruthy is the best part of the church. She can really engage with the children, whether you are visiting the church or a regular, your child will have fun and learn something new every Sunday.
Internationals Team, do their best to work their way to reach out to new students and foreigners who come to Bristol. Do these foreign students or workers successfully merge with the crowd, read my review from start all over again.
Coffee shop, 7Cakes with a children's play area is a great place to get a good coffee and yummy cakes.
Been going to this church since 2017. Love it. If you are not looking for a perfect church, this one is for you. Or you can go to the other churches in the city who spend a lot of effort to just put a big display, but don't need your help.

All Saints’ Day with cardinal Robert Sarah.
A beautiful church in the heart of London. Incredible priest. A national shrine. The softest pews in the whole of London.

Loved the Clifton Literary Fest here. We enjoyed three very different things. All well prepared and full of insights. Well done and thanks to all involved.

Amazing great hall and meeting place! Beautiful large round hall with amazing acoustics. I attended a function at the Emmanuel centre, and the facilities are very good. The staff are helpful and the buffet was very good. If you are looking for a larger venue for 100-200, then this place will certainly impress anyone who attends!

Beautiful place. Was there for the queen's memorial after her death. Very silent and respectful place. A great spot when visiting the bridge and surroundings.

Attended Sunday Service at Hillsong when I was in London on a short stop over.
Great worship and very welcoming people. Felt like home instantly 🙏🏼
Location is perfect, central.

I came from Brazil to Edinburgh and found in this International Church a place where I can really live what the Bible preach. It’s a great place to worship God and be surrounded by such welcoming people. You can meet people from everywhere and it’s a great community. Love the Preachings too!

I love this church! It's an international, non-denominational community with great preaching and solid doctrine. They teach baptism accurately and encourage deep Bible study, providing lots of support. The joy and positive energy in this church are amazing!

Very friendly people, and welcoming.

Wonderful church and venue. If you ever have the chance to visit its well worth it. Cafe downstairs and good facilities for access

Life changing ! Pastor Pete is a man of integrity and authenticity and I never fail to be touched by God through Pete’s sermons. Other bonuses are the modern worship and the diversity of people who attend. Can’t recommend this church enough - it really does feel like home.

Such a welcoming church with a huge heart for serving others. Amazing teaching and worship and the kids ministry is fantastic; our little ones love going along. A wonderful church family.

City on a Hill is a great church, living out Christianity in a very genuine way. One of the great things is it is very bible centred. Well worth checking out their online service even if you don't live in Edinburgh or can't get to church.

Visit Emmanuel every so often - probably not enough but mainly when I need some spiritual assistance and have always found the congregation to be very welcoming and pleasant. Distinctive, beautiful looking, very spacious church and not as religiously intimidating as others I would say and my preference. Offer refreshments on a Sunday service which is nice and a Sunday school for children. A great, modern church with a diverse congregation - would recommend.

Love this church, love the vision, love the heart for the city and region. It’s my family. I’d wholeheartedly recommend you check it out 👍🏻

Cute little village with absolutely breathtaking scenery. Spent some time around the Kirk, was so peaceful

Very beautiful church situated in a great Clifton location. The building is very tall and seen from far away. The architecture is exquisite Gothic style with remarkable arched windows and doors. There is a small green park just across the street. The overall impression of the area is very pleasing.

Tucked away in Covent Garden, this little gem of a church is worth a prayerful visit. Printed prayers at the statues make it easier if you're at a loss of words.

I am a member of Hillsong Church London and have been attending with my Family at Dominion Theatre since 2010. It's the best place for Praise , worship and to listen to the word of God im London

I received a warm welcome and presence of the Lord is felt on Lords day, with godly believers with genuine interest in remembering the Lord Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.
I was taken to Bro. Ken’s house for lunch, though I am a new person to them, there was a feeling and comfort that we all are one in HIM and part of the flock. It’s a blessing to be with all. God bless everyone in this assembly

Inspiring church in a great setting. Well worth a visit

Good

A place where God and His Word are loved and honoured.

Wonderful Church right in the heart of London.Easy to get to using public transport as not too far from The Houses Of Parliament. Not sure regarding car parking;probably on street paid parking.Lovely large building inside with wonderful acoustics due to building shape.Very well laid out and plenty of seating.Visited here back in July 17 for Korean Christian Family Missions Celebration.Loved every minute, what a venue and amazing celebration!!

Very much a place of worship, where for once I was very out of place, as the men really looked after the women in an old fashioned way.

Traditional Church of England church, with whitewashed interior and modern stained-glass windows

Great people who love the Lord and teach from His word. Lovely time of fellowship together.

Everyone is welcome, please stop in whenever you pass by.

Excellent venue, staff are absolutely superb. Surprisingly easy to park on a Friday night and Saturday, but we did get there early. The Catering staff make wonderful food too.
