Stately and imposing. Iconic Millennium Monument located within Heroes Square, Budapest. There are statues representing the Seven chieftains of the Magyars, other important Hungarian national leaders, and the Memorial Stone of Heroes. Unesco Heritage Site. Worth a visit
Amazing place; at the night; we were visited this place in winter; so the lake was frozen so is perfect to practice ice skating.

Any way you’ll can view many sculptures and a big square place.
A large square with monuments and statues of the most outstanding kings, princes and leaders of Hungary. Behind the square is the entrance to a huge park full of various attractions, such as a zoo, one of the most popular thermal baths in Budapest and a large, beautiful castle that really makes an amazing impression.
These 60 pairs of shoes, sculpted from Iron, serve as a memorial to the 1940s atrocities committed against the Jewish people.

The Hungarian militia ordered the Jews to remove their shoes, which could be stolen and resold, before massacring them at the edge of the Danube
The Millennium Monument in Budapest, Hungary, is a notable landmark located at Heroes' Square (Hősök tere). It was constructed in 1896 to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of the founding of Hungary. The monument features statues of important historical figures and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, making it a significant cultural and historical site in Budapest.
Very beautiful and peaceful memorial. Nicely located near the parliament and along the Danube. Can recommend if you are ever nearby.

Big square with a big monument. It gets very hot there during the summer. By the time when I visited it they were building a temporary infrastructure for Budapest 2023 World Athletics Championship.
It's a remarkable place from the point of view of history and as a hommage to those who were murdered as a result of intolerance and antisemitism. Nevertheless I missed a text explaining in detail what happened there in 1944-45. The monument looks neglected and dirty.
It is a monument of a jewish victims in WWII. They ordered them to put off their shoes here. Definetly worth visiting and remember the victims. You can visit it for free walking by the Danube just in front of the Danube bank.

It is UNESCO world heritage site. There is very beautiful park beside it and also two museums and a monument plus a balloon ride sight and thermal bath and also ZOO. The square features seven chieftains of the Magyars and other Hungarian national leaders. The best time to visit it in early morning and the evening, it is well connected with public transportation. A public-paid parking is also available there.
It’s a very sobering experience. As an American, we read about WWII. We’ve seen movies, perhaps, if we were lucky, we met a holocaust survivor. But until you d stepped foot in a concentration camp, until you see shells and ruin of buildings bombed in WWII, until you look at these shoes filled with pebbles as a remembrance of a loved one, you don’t even begin to fathom the depth of pain and suffering. It’s a silent, sobering reminder that we must do everything in our power to not let hate win.
Worth a visit too see and recollect thoughts on historical events that have happened.
A monument for the 550.000 Hungarian Jews who lost their lives between 1944 - 1945 by arrow cross militiamen. Thousands of them were shot at the banks of Danube. Before being shot, they were ordered to leave their shoes ashore. For most of them, this was their only valuable possession. The installation was erected in their memory in April 2005.
Sad story of the massacre of Jews during the Holocaust who fled and plunged into the cold and deep Danube river. An art installation of the victims' shoes made of iron became a tragic monument to that event on the banks of the Danube.
