This museum is way better than the other one in town. Going in you can turn back time and see how a regular life looked like. There is a garden where you can sit and rest for a little while. Love it :)

A well designed exhibition space in an old factory, a very nice and modern place.
1. Visited the permanent free exhibition The Permanent Collection - dedicated to European colonialism, where I learned about the history of Italy, especially colonialism, and this topic is rarely touched upon anywhere.
I think this is one of the most thoughtful ways to present colonialism around the world, taking into account the consequences, the trauma, and the path forward to a better and more inclusive society.
2. The second exhibition that I came to in the same museum by chance, without planning in advance - Vincent van Gogh pittore colto. The museum is modern, but the solution to the exhibition, in this case Van Gogh, was magnificent. A fantastic exhibition with a historical chronology explaining the artistic development of the artist.
About 40 exhibited works brought from the Dutch museum.
I learned that Van Gogh had a passionate interest in books and reading, and that the artist was also fond of Japan and collected large quantities of Japanese prints, which are also presented at the exhibition.
Excellent work by the exhibition curators, delight and gratitude.🫶🏼

Beautiful museum. We went there to see Van Gogh, Rodin, Deloittes photography winner and the standard exhibition. The layout of the museum is great and most of the visit was nice. We used the cafe as well. Van Gogh was really worth the entire visit. Rodin was boring.
Me and a group of my friends went there for a Van Gogh exhibition, paid a full fare and stayed disappointed. Few of the Van Gogh works are showed, the second part of the exhibition decicated to Japan.
What disappointed us more, is that paying a full fare fee doesn’t allow you to see the other halls. There were two other halls that we were robbed of, they stayed to buy another ticket.
Not doing that, thank you.
Would advise visiting another place for the Van Gogh works.

Alberobello is a town in Italy’s Apulia region. It’s known for its trulli, whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs. The hilltop Rione Monti district has hundreds of them. Very unique trullo buildings. The trulli of Alberobello have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996
Remarkable heritage of the historical village destroyed by in 79. All the remaining building s and living areas inspired us that the life in ancient Roman was even more convenient and highly developed than today.
I didn't feel too enthralled when we arrived in the car park, partly due to the torrential rain. However once we started walking around it was really interesting. Some of the information boards could do with refurbishing but I was pleased to find that some of the information was written in English. We had a very good guide who really brought the place to life. I was amazed by how well some of the murals and mosaics are preserved, and so colourful. Also fantastic that we could get so close to these ancient remains, and even walking on some of the mosaic floors. Definitely worth a visit and friends who have been to Pompeii said that they prefer Herculaneum even though its smaller.
I am so glad I booked a guided tour yesterday! I definitely recommend to do that. It was so interesting and our guide us many things about Naples, the history, the surrounding area, but of course also all the details about the castle.
Not much to see on the inside, sincerely I expected more history or something about the trulli. It was only info about this specific trullo that it is unique, luckily it only costs 2€, so it was ok why u see for the money.
I lived here 7 years. Naples is under rated. Vibrant passionate city with so much culture and charm. I always stay by the Castel and love being by the sea. Lots to see and delicious food and friendly people. Right by the port and close to the train station. Wear comfortable shoes. It’s a beautiful spot.

Es ist nur sehr umständlich, das es für die unterschiedlichen Räume unterschiedliche Tickets gibt.ich blicke selten richtig durch. neben einer kostenlosen Austellung gibt es oft 3 bis 4 weitere kostenpflichtige Sonderausstellungen. Kompliziert. Nicht zu vergessen die interessanten Rabatte (Lunchpause, etc.)
I only visited the permanent exhibition which is for free. The architecture is beautiful and that’s worth the visit, the content of the permanent exhibition is interesting. Only I believe they could have work harder in the exhibits. Not enough interaction and quite boring displays. Given the small size of the permanent exhibition they could do much better. Unfortunately I don’t think it is at a European level.

This museum holds a moderate collection of artifacts dedicated to the italian government and military heroes. Be warned: the museum is only one hallway and entry price seems significantly inflated.
Phenomenal experience! Absolutely stunning frescoes and well preserved buildings give a look back into earlier life.
If you are in a hurry, do the tour with a guide. The streets are winding and you may not exit on your first try. Audio guide is good if you have time to wander.

An absolutely incredible archeological site with well preserved structures and artifacts from 79 AD. If you are exploring the past and visiting Pompeii then this place won't let you down. On a more practical note, there is car parking, vending machines, toilets and takes around 2 hours to fully explore.
My parents have been to Pompeii but heard this was much better, so we did a private tour and wow was it amazing to see all the walls, murals, tile floors, doors, and more still intact due to the mud preserving it. I recommend doing a tour/guide because there is so many small details and amazing facts you might miss. Don't miss the 2 small museums either!
There was so much rich history here. It’s best to have a guided tour to understand what you’re looking at because the ruins can be confusing otherwise. Crowded but much less than other attractions in the region. Nice restaurants and vendors onsite. The museum you visit after the park is also very detailed and nice. It was cool to see some preserved/mummified corpses.
Must book!! We got in by waiting, only 60 people in at a time, 6E not much to see, but for 16E you can see just a little bit more, make sure your fit with the extra cost as you have 140 steps to go up!! But the view was nice.
Beautiful place, perfect to escape the hectic city. The piano music creates an almost magical atmosphere in the garden.

Nice arkitekture and the exhibition had an educational, practical layout. It was very expensive internationally to go in for such a small place to visit. Unfortunately, the staff in the ticket office was a bit unfriendly and the high price did not even include a guided hearing aid to be able to hear e.g. English about the objects and paintings.
I stopped by here to see the van Gogh exhibit currently taking place. The museum itself is beautiful on the inside! The curves on the main lobby before entering the exhibits are great looking. Very fascinating seeing a quick glimpse of van Gogh on the outside before going to the main exhibit.
It makes it unique by location at a coast. Specifically, history wise, it used to belong to Spain and they have suffered from different wars during eras. Afternoon, they’re closed for 1-2 hours. Staff were nice and welcome. Good view to sea and city. It took a bit to get a ticket. Since it’s south of Europe and super-hot, make sure about having proper clothing.
When we got here at 6 pm, the gate was mealy closed but there were many people inside to prepare an event for tomorrow. Ticket is issued 60 min before closing time.

Easy access from Circumvesuviana. Ticket office is at the end of the access path, but you can see the old town laid out below you as you walk to it. Astonishing to think the sea was up to the edges of the town and is now 1km away, because of the Vesuvius eruption. Well preserved murals, good path to follow. No cafe just a series of vending machines. Toilets at ticket office and "cafe area".

Much smaller and easier to get around than Pompeii. Probably 2/3 hours is enough. Unfortunately there were a few areas closed including the baths which was disappointing but I suppose they've got to maintain these areas sometime.
However, gives a good insight into the past.

As the other reviews have noted, this site is the companion to Pompeii. In my opinion, it's not better nor worse than Pompeii, but different and complementary. Because a city was built around and on top of the original city, the site is smaller, in a pit, surrounded by the current city of Herculaneum. But, the preservation of organic material, and the skeletons visible in what were the docks are striking.
Practical things to note:
1. The site is about 30 minutes outside Naples.
2. Tickets can be purchased on site.
3. Easy to navigate the site, but suggest an audio tour. Otherwise, you won't really know what you're looking at.
4. There are toilets and vending machines in the park. Bring change for the vending machines.
5. There is a little set of vendor booths outside the park with snacks and some souvenirs. These take cash and cards (though I think they prefer cash).
6. It's an archeological site: There are almost no even surfaces. Cobblestones, stepping up and down, etc.

This is a remarkable place. While not as large as Pompeii, much of it is better preserved. Many houses have intact mosaic floors and wall frescos. Some even with roofs. Definitely worth a view if you’re in the area.
A guide isn’t required, but they provide a lot of history. Wander afterward and make sure to see the far side with the cave temple with the snake bronze, the garden with chairs to rest under pomegranate trees, and a large villa.

I only found out this place existed while searching for Pompeii tickets. Herculaneum (Ercolano) was actually hit with ash before Pompeii and at a much higher temperature (500°C as opposed to 250°C in Pompeii). It is a lot less crowded than Pompeii and I would say a lot of things are better preserved. It is also much smaller so you don’t have to spend as much time exploring and it’s easy to not miss anything (unlike Pompeii). There are no restaurants or cafes inside however there are plenty choose from in the surrounding area. I highly recommend Pappamonte!

We were on a cruise and as we left the port the castle was right in front of us. So we crossed the road and in we went. Just over a fiver to enter and if you want a full tour it's another £10. But well worth it, the tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and a bit funny.
Which made it very enjoyable.

Much better site than Pompeii in that mud and lava covered the site which drove out air and water preserving combustibles and buildings. Not as large a site as Pompeii but much more damage to Pompeii from the eruption. Been twice, 2nd time with a tour. Didn't get to see a quarter of the site with the guide and you can pick up a free leaflet telling you about each building. We'll worth a visit.
Not every museum or monument needs to be 5 stars. This place is quite average and tiny. I can't say it was worth it. It should be free.
Really interesting museum about a crucial part of Italian and European history that is probably under appreciated in the context of all the rest of the history in Rome. Unbelievably interesting items on display. More on the ideas of Mazzini would be great.
We were two friends tonight celebrating a birthday here, the theme of the palace looks a lot like my hometown (Shiraz) in my country (Iran), so it felt amazing to be there. Moreover Francesco and his college (unfortunately I don't remember the name of the nice man who brought us the cake and sang tanti auguri a te). As I told the staff, thinking about Napoli we will always remember this unforgettable night... Thanks alot

Really lovely and beautiful place, free entry and lovely personnel. We had a free salsa dancing lesson, which was extremely fun and we played the piano in a pretty old room for free. Definitely recommend!

Wow. One of the best looking museum I’ve ever been to. When I visited there was a temporary exhibition of surrealist art (Magritte, Dalí etc.) very beautifully arranged. Then there is the smaller permanent exhibition of Milanese cultural history, very interesting as well. But the place itself is very neatly arranged in an old industrial building with modern touches.
Many people say it, but Herculaneum is much more visitor friendly than Pompeii, and we really enjoyed our visit here.
We spent almost a whole day at Pompeii and it was very busy, crowded, and so big it’s hard to cover the whole site in one visit. Herculaneum is the opposite of that.
It’s quite a small site, and it was much more relaxed and less busy. Many of the buildings are much better preserved than Pompeii too.
The only downside is the lack of a cafe or place to eat/drink but there are many good cafes and restaurants close by.

Enjoyed the guided tour of the castle. You need to reserve your spot online and once there, you pay 6 euros (card only - no cash) for general admission and if you would like to see the tower and other areas you need to pay an additional 10 euros. The guide was informative and took questions.
Perfect place to get away from the sensory overload of Naples for a while. I was so relieved walking into the garden, it’s quiet, beautiful, breezy and very relaxing.
It is definitely unique and it comes highly recommended, but it’s a long drive just to look at houses with a pointy hut. The history is interesting, but there is not much of a town once you’re done with the old city.

I only came to know about the place when I was looking up ways to get to Vesuvius and it was a convenient stop when traveling from Naples to Vesuvius. While not as famous or as big as Pompeii, the ruins are really well preserved here as compared to Pompeii and the wall paintings are so vibrant it’s hard to believe how old they are. Not too many tourists visit so it’s really easy to get tickets on the spot but it’s really hard to get enough people to form a group for a guided tour so we ended up without a guide. But visiting Pompeii the day after with a guided tour, I could easily piece the details together later. It’s also a lot more pleasant to walk around Herculaneum without the crowd of Pompeii. Definitely worth a visit if you’ve got an hour or 2 to spare.

Passed by this museum on the way to the Capitoline buildings. Hope to visit next time around.
Exhibit is small, but it is a good history of war. You are paying a premium for the lift ticket to get a good photo. Not worth the price in my opinion. Capitoline Museums is much better value for around the same price.
Great little museum and a bargain at only €2 entry. So interesting to see the inside of these houses. Don't miss the little shop at the bar where you can stop in for a wine tasting for only €3. Wonderful place to learn about the history of the trulli.

Came across this gem while exploring the Alter of the Fatherland. The ticket had to be bought via a machine that was outside the door, but the English button was not working. A kind member of staff helped. The ticket is also valid for a trip up to the roof of the Alter of the Fatherland.
It was not a large museum, but had some nice exhibits, and there were not many people visiting.
Downstairs, there was a very good photography exhibit, showing pictures of Rome during the days of Covid and lockdowns.
The entrance to the lift to get to the rooftop is round the corner. It is tiny, glass and rickety. Once at the top there are stunning views.

Can be a bit confusing to find, but you can stop in here when you get a ticket to go to the top of the Alter of the Fatherland, it's included in the price.

Pinacoteca che espone interessantissime opere, che coprono un arco temporale che va dal Quattrocento al Settecento. Sono presenti molti dipinti di artisti del Rinascimento lombardo come Vincenzo Foppa,Bergognone, Marco D'Oggiono, Boltraffio, Bernardino Luini e altri; ma il visitatore può essere rapito anche dai capolavori di Mantegna, Bellini, Lotto , Correggio, Tintoretto, Tiziano ed altri. Il percorso si conclude con due quadri di notevoli dimensioni di Canaletto. Consiglio di soffermarsi e di ammirare in particolare le numerose opere di importanti artisti che rappresentano la Madonna con bambino: tra queste la tempera su tavola di Vincenzo Foppa "Madonna del libro".

You can visit for free. Great place on this busy street to take some rest in the inner garden on upper floor, drink coffee, enjoy the silence. We were lucky - some great person played a piano there.
Es lohnt sich im oberen Teil der Stadt auf Entdeckungsreise zu gehen. Zwar liegen die Trullis nicht so dicht beisammen. Dennoch sind sie wunderschön und einzigartige und jedes hat seine einzigartige Geschichte….

The castle of Barletta, located in the Apulian city of the same name, is the architectural result of various stratifications due to the succession of different dynasties in power, which took place from the 11th century to the 18th century. Once a fortress for defensive purposes, surrounded by the sea that occupied the moat all around the castle and isolated it from potential enemy attacks, it is a strategic point in city life as well as an important urban cornerstone. Most impressive and best value museum I have ever seen in Milan! Loads of art pieces here, make sure you have at least 3 hours if you are a big art fan.
I went to this museum with my husband. We bought 2 tickets at 16:05 and we finished our trip through 2 floors at 17:05. Our exploration were very slowly, we where watching and reading every piece of art very deeply. Why did I give only one star? Because the visit is not worth of money. 15 euro for one ticket. 30 euro for both of us. We couldn't believe that it was finished so fast. The paintings which you can see on this profile were only temporary exhibitions. Inside museum are only sculptures and daily stuff from ancient ages. Annoying sound of motion detectors were heard all the time because this is the kind of the protection. I can recommend: Musei Vaticani, Palazzo Barberini, Museum of temporary and modern art, Museum and Gallery Borghese.

È una domanda da non fare a uno che adora le cose e i luoghi belli. Anzi, bellissimi, come il quartiere confinante, ovvero l'antico Piazzo. Inoltre è una delle mie passeggiate preferite, soprattutto in salita, verso il Piazzo, appunto.

Barletta ;+) einen kleinen Abstecher und die Festung zum mitnehmen ;+) ....
Ein schöner Spielplatz ist auch noch auf dem Gelände ( der Festung) dabei .

Molto suggestiva, merita percorrerla fino in cima al Piazzo
A beautiful exhibition space, with high historical value in itself, hosting some of the best art exhibitions in Italy.
Bella passeggiata da fare a piedi, in discesa, dal Piazzo collinare verso la città in pianura. Soprattutto nei pomeriggi assolati è un bell'andare osservando edifici, cortili, giardini e dettagli architettonici. Dovrebbe essere meglio e più curata tutta la passeggiata per valorizzarla per quanto merita. Seguendo la strada alla base della collina si raggiunge facilmente la funicolare che permette di tornare in cima al colle, senza sforzo.

The Castle is the best point of view in the city. I loved have a coffee in front of it so I could admire it and enjoy his beauty and walk around my dog.

The Scuderie del Quirinale is part of the Palazzo del Quirinale (Quirinal Palace), which is the main official residence of the President of the Italian Republic.
The original function of the Scuderie was that of carriage house and stables of the Palazzo. Nowadays it is a venue for major cultural events and exhibitions.
The building was completed in 1732. Since 1999 it serves as an exhibition space, having hosted major exhibitions with a variety of themes.
When leaving the exhibition space on the top floor, the staircase with glass panels provides a stunning view over the city.
The theme of this exhibition was: Pompei and Santorini: eternity in a day.

The original function of the Scuderie was that of carriage house and stables of the Palazzo. Nowadays it is a venue for major cultural events and exhibitions.
The building was completed in 1732. Since 1999 it serves as an exhibition space, having hosted major exhibitions with a variety of themes.
When leaving the exhibition space on the top floor, the staircase with glass panels provides a stunning view over the city.

A super surprise in the hectic, busy Napoli city center. An island of calm and original craft in the middle of a whirlwind of the streets. A hidden beautiful garden and a pleasant bar are a welcome reprise, an assorted hand craft sellers offering interesting work.
Intriguing exhibition on Santorini, Pompei, and their similar destinies in quite different epochs. Especially addressed to scholars and experts, it can be enjoyed by non-specialists. Installations are original, not completely linked to the main theme

This place is a hidden gem. I didn’t visit anywhere else like it while in Naples. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff are friendly. The coffees also good. The food on offer is limited and the service can be slow, but who wouldn’t want to slow down in a place like this!?

This is such a great little gallery, a short walk from Termini. The first time I came here was with time to kill waiting for a flight at Fiumicino. This time just to see what was on. We caught a brilliant exhibition of Japanese prints by Hiroshige, 200 of them, beautifully presented and with background historical context. You get an audio guide included, not intrusive: you can listen to as much as you want. It's in a part of Rome dominated by government buildings and ministries, which is also interesting if you like that sort of thing.
