Best Chicken restaurants in Korea, Republic of

They're well known for the Ginseng Chicken Soup, Ssamgaetang, very flavourful while their kimchis are very nice! Michelin rated eatery!

The ginseng chicken here is not the best. I had both the regular one and the mushroom one and neither really had any chicken taste. The overall meal was very mild and a little bland.

If you need a quick fix you can maybe check this place out but I would not recommend here. They also get pretty crowded during lunch time so try to avoid peak times if you don't want to wait.

Chickend gingerg hot pot is delicious. I like it very much. I will come back visiting Korean in the future to enjoy Korean food.

Delicious! Recommending the chicken with samen. Feel full after the meal. Recommend to come when there is no tour. Otherwise, it will be very crowded.

I have been going to this place for ginseng chicken for many years, but it has become super popular now and most of the customers are mainly tourists. Each person has to order your own set and the portion is definitely filling. The chicken is very flavorful and the glutinous rice is also fluffy and enjoyable with the warm soup.

While the service might not be as good anymore since it's crowded and very touristy, the food still taste great and it is perfect on a cold day to restore energy and warm your body.

The ginseng chicken soup lacks both quality and flavor, considering its price. The fried chicken falls below average, exhibiting a dry and tough texture. The shop is filled with many tour groups.

Had the cultured ginseng chicken soup. Lacking in ginseng taste. Chicken was not well cleaned and most likely frozen not fresh. Not a great meal. Staff do not allow sharing - it’s small. No it’s not. One chicken and some glutinous rice. No I can’t finish it. Free kimchi but I did not try. Will not go back.

I tried the typical chicken soup.... Conclusion: very special 🤔... but who is on slightly slippery soup with cooked chicken skin and low-salt diet will inspire the soup 😉
The "grilled chicken" what was touted as the best in town by a nice regular customer in front of the store was then unfortunately much too dry for our taste

Hearty ginseng soup which tasted really healthy and the portions were SO generous! I think it was a whole chicken inside, I have no idea but there were two drumsticks two wings and a butt so I figured probably it is?!

We ordered one original and one black garlic flavour, and would say the original is sooooo good! Initially we wanted to share one but that wasn’t possible so we are going to be so stuffed here!

Staff can’t really speak English but there are English words on the menu so have no fear! Service wise in Korea is generally lacking so I would just take one star away because I’ve never met exceptional service anyway HAHA.

Ambiance is a casual eatery with many Koreans! We came around 11 so we are in a rather empty restaurant but by 12, it was quite full!

Would not specially make a trip to come back but would be a great place to satisfy some soup cravings!

Comforting large pot of ginseng chicken soup. We got a half piece of ginseng in the soup and soup was topped with ginseng roots. No ginseng wine unlike the gobong Samgyetang restaurant further up. Roast chicken rather dry especially the breast meat but tasty.

The wild ginseng chicken soup is delicious, with glutinous rice stuffed inside the chicken so you eat it like porridge. Also tried the roast chicken which was tender and the skin very crispy. Great spot in Myeong-Dong!

Above average ginseng chicken and soup, efficient service and allows sharing, unlike some ginseng chicken restaurants. Great value for money.

The ginseng chicken soup was tasty and it was a hearty and warm meal after a long and cold day in Seoul! The soup wasn’t bland and I could taste the ginseng in the soup 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Definitely a must go place if you are in Myeongdong!!

I personally think this is the best place for ginseng chicken soup.
their broth are tasty and clear, not think and chunky.
their rice inside the chicken is tasteful and infused with the herbs a d ginseng. not porridge style like other places.

lots of their customers are old Korean folks. if you see a resto that has old local people, means it's authentic and the real deal.

my number one choice for samgyetang.

they also sell tons of roasted chicken.
I didnt try it but looks great too.

Order two types of ginseng chicken soup in a rainy September of Seoul. The Wild Ginseng Chicken Soup is the best among the rest. If you are here, recommend to try it. ;)
Forgot to mention, all the service crew were so helpful and kind cause we can't speak a single word in Korean. 😁
