Brown Bean Coffee is a local, home grown chain of Sri Lankan coffee shops. The chain serves coffees, teas, and an assortment of baked goods.

The chain offers a great local alternative to foreign chains like Starbucks (not in SL) or Barista (in SL). However, if like me, you are looking for specialty coffee (or a Third Wave Coffee) then you’re likely to be disappointed.

I ordered their flat white and was very disappointed (too much milk — too little coffee).

Verdict: Recommended if looking for a local cafe; avoid if looking for specialty coffee.

Nice food options. Bit pricey but expected for the location. Service is good.

I went there in last 2023/12/06. As the study hall of main library closed on Wednesday, I wanted an alternative place to do paper work under calm environment. So I searched and found this place. My requirement was finding a place closer to CMC and Library.

Place was satisfied to me. Ample parking spaces were there to park the vehicle. As I observed plug sockets were installed closer to every table. So computer works can be done peacefully. Inside was air conditioned while the outside tables were well placed under fans. Foos was delicious but little bit expensive. However the paying higher price for the food was not creating any worries because the food were in super quality and tasty. For the food they have two menu and if we need food from both menu, then we have to pay separately. Also in one menu the prices were not updated.
Staff was friendly. They provided a good service.
Free wifi is available. The PW can be obtained by asking from the staff. However the strength of the wifi was not good.

The only bad impression was, if we go there for working document or studying in a calm surroundings to concentrate on the works, that intention could be disturbed by the other customers. Basically the people come here mostly for meals. So mostly they are talking loudly. It could be a disturbance to people like me who went there for study purposes. But the management cannot stop that, as this is not a place like a library where promoting calmness and silence.

Food served with a smile in comfy surroundings be it indoors or outside; whilst quietly sipping a marshmallow hot chocolate in a tall glass, surrounded with filling lattes, kothu and a variety of rice - at Cocoa veranda you are truly spoiled for choice. Paneer kebabs and cheese toasts (6 slices) with green chilies added to flavour with a handful of fries in the middle of the display plus more than enough chicken wings in a portion were hard to resist on a wet cold day! If meeting with colleagues or a family catch-up you’re in the right place at any given time!

Need to order the food and pay for it before hand. The food was delicious. Can recommend the mutton kottu. But it takes a considerable amount of time to prepare the food. The waiter came and kept the food on the table and then he went to serve another table. Then he came back with the plates. Then went off and after some time he came with the cutleries. Was not very happy with this service.

They opened this new outlet right in front of the Viharamahadevi Park a few months back.
The location is difficult to miss. And there is good enough parking space inside.

And the staff and the ambience is so good inside the cafe. It's one of the best few places around Town Hall to have a chat over a snack with a friend. It was so calm inside.

Their brownies are the best and totally worth the money. And the sausage chopsey rice we had was also good. They didn't take much time to prepare the meal either.
However the iced tea was not that great.

All in all food here was reasonably priced and would definitely recommend for brownies for sure.

Stopped in here mid afternoon for a latte but ended up ordering their pumpkin soup and French fries as well. It was delicious!!! Creamy, flavourful, just plain yum. And great garlic bread to go with it. We left with happy bellies and hearts !

I have tasted the best mango smoothie from this place. I recommend any one if you visiting Dialog ICONIC center, come this place and enjoy a smoothie. Earlier the place was only opened for Dialog staffs but now its open for customers as well.

It is a decent place to meet for a cup of coffee and have a chit chat with you friends go on a date.

I like the ambiance of the restaurant even though it has limited space.

Inside is sometimes a little humid. Foods are a little pricey, but they are delicious.

Staff is very friendly and the service is quick.

So, I was very happy with the coffee I ordered. I was so good. I ordered the cinnamon coffee. It is a super cute place, small bit very nice. If I had one complaint, I'd say the service could be improved.

Went there on a weekday. The place was not crowded, just had a couple of guests. The place had sandwiches, burgers, soups etc... in their menu. Unfortunately, most of the items were not available. The pineapple juice was ok. The wraps and sandwiches were ok too. The staff are friendly. Parking available. Ambience is ok. I wish they could make sure that items in the menu are available.

This place offers fresh Juices,Sandwiches,Milk shakes,Hot chocolate drinks.Really nice place.They serve coffee with non fat milk and sandwiches with brown bread.
