One a coolest and historical cruise destination in mediterranean. Its a clean port. There will be city sight seen bus services. It’s really worth to walk around in such a historical rich area….
It is a small but very beautiful port, possibly one of the best in the Mediterranean Sea. In less than 5 minutes walking you will be in the city center. I have to highlight that the taxi service is very intrusive, at least 20 taxis tried to offer us their services. Enjoy it very much and remember that in Malta you drive on the left. The latter greatly shocks Europeans.
Great view! Use the elevator for going to the top
Stopping with the ship at Ras IL hanzir area port was the most horrible terminal ever. Area not fit for cruise ships but for containers and imported goods. The idea for putting ships this side of port isnt one that attracts tourist to leave the ship. Pls move ships to the Valletta waterfront where they where before.
On P and O cruise ship AZURA
15th June 2023. We left the ship and turned right and walked for about 10 minutes to the town lift. Tickets are 1 euro. Retain ticket for coming back down.
Nice garden at the top with plenty of benches. The town is very hilly with plenty of shops, cafes etc. Generally prices are not cheap.
On the way back we called at the Cruise Terminal Duty Free shop. Gordon's Gin 1 ltr is £12 and similar prices for all spirits
500 ml Tonic £1.30
Tobacco is very cheap
There was no check on bags when boarding the ship.
A pleasant day.
Absolutely nice walking area and very beautiful view from the top to the port.
A beautiful Port with ample space to move around and enjoy the beauty and history that us so vivid. I absolutely love Malta ❤️

It's a transport port mostly, but I've been here as a passenger of Grimaldi Lines. We've been arrived here from the Catania port with the Direct Ferries ship at 01.20 a. m. and were surprised of this place, because it is situated on the opposite side of Valetta port and the is no taxi or bus stops around. So if you are going to Malta from Catania by ship you should ask your ticket office that port of departure in Malta it will be. And have a number of Malta taxi company just in case. eCabs for example is a very good taxi company.

One of the most beautiful ports I’ve been to in my life, entering it was just breath taking. The pilots were really professional and polite. The port itself is near a couple of eateries and everything of interest was within walking distance. I have never seen anything like Valletta and will definitely be returning.
