We visited the cafe. Lovely ambience and good service with a warm welcome. The two coffees - latte and flat white - were good, not great. The chamomile tea was lovely and the jasmine tart, superb.
Most of all, we really enjoyed the feel of the place, comfortable seating, lovely potted plants and some smart wall art. Just chilled with class.

was here for the Penang Cocktail Week held at The Cellar. Loved the ambience and a great place to chill. Cocktails was amazing!
It was a hot day and needed to get away from the sun. Service top notch from staff. Had an hour to kill and it was perfect with some tea and honey.
We we at the hotel to dine at Blanc. The degustation menu was for a special occasion with the wine pairings. Everything was so delicious and it looks exquisite. Price is high compared to Penang prices but we both felt it was worth every cent.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Macalister Mansion, and I can't say enough about the exceptional experience I had from start to finish. The personalized service from Kamala & Kevin was evident from the moment I checked in, making me feel truly welcome and valued as a guest. Lynne which served us at breakfast was friendly & had excellent service.

The mansion has been lovingly restored into a luxurious boutique hotel with the outcome, not cost as the main consideration. We love the touches to detail with the locking doors, beautiful wallpaper and tiles.

Although there's a small wedding reception, we still have our own privacy at one corner.
Downside, I wonder why they still need to charge the customers who are dining there for parking???

Very nice ambience, spacious, friendly to physically challenged. Food is chinese fine dining. Pricey. Quality acceptable, portion is small but I think main selling point is ambience.
Every dish we had was very good! Some unique dishes like the fish maw chicken on a lotus leaf, the assam prawn with bread, and the classic Beijing Roast Duck. Worth a trip to George Town for sure!

Franco-Asian cuisine at its best. Great food. Excellent presentation/creativity. Good service. Even the palette cleanser dish was really good. Would highly recommend people to (a) pre-order the dry-aged duck, and (b) add on the foie gras dish. If you don’t pre-order the duck, you won’t be able to order it in the restaurant.
I went with the non-alcoholic pairing which was decent - a couple of good kombuchas.

Very disappointed with a women there, not sure is the staff or the lady boss. She use to know us as we came a fews time and use to know which dish we order, but yesterday as we came, I told her that we want back the dish that we always order (as I don’t know the dish name), and she told me she know, but when it served I told her is different from what we ordered every time, and she told us this is more delicious and we are like been forced to take the 2 plates of the spaghettis. End up when I pay the spaghetti per plate is RM260+, and she only told me because it got a lobster.That was a shock, she should told us before she recommended, so disappointed. No more next time. Nice food is worth to pay, but dishonest service is not worth to pay.
Gotta say that they have not changed their quality one bit. Was a long time customer before their Michelin Star achievement.
The way they take the simplest of local ingredients and turn it into a masterpiece is plain genius.

Jokes aside, I enjoyed my meal here. This is one of the few places that serve high quality, high end Chinese food. Unpretentious simple looking but generous and extremely tasty food.
I totally enjoyed the soup. It's thick, it's flavourful, it's also filling with very generous ingredients and most importantly it smells great. If there's a dish I fully recommend, it's probably the crabshell crab cake. The crab meat is packed into the crab shell and baked. They used to bake it with cheese but they are trying a new method now. The crab meat filling is delicious and hard to put into words.
Meanwhile the prawn ball is deep fried and combines perfectly with the accompanying thick, sweet and tangy sauce. Perfectly balanced flavour and enjoyable to eat. The peking duck meanwhile was average to me. Nothing spectacular that would make me drive a journey for.
I surprisingly enjoyed the pork belly with preserved cabbage. Lots of pork pieces and generally meaty so that you don't feel guilty with the fat and skin. Cooked and seasoned exceptionally with the salty cabbage. Yummy.
The dessert was also only average. But i like that it was sweetened just enough to be enjoyable and not excessively as some places do.
In the end, what's important is that all the dishes and food clicked well and there was much more hits than misses. Superb place to have a meal.

My two friends and I went and enjoyed it the whole way through. We ordered the smoked hay duck 2 days in advance and it was incredible. We also picked the non alcoholic association menu when we got there, which put the lunch at a whole other level. The service was good (even though the drink/dish association wasn’t always very synchronized), the atmosphere very pleasing and calm, the products were fresh. At the end, the hay duck option allows us to get a doggy bag with the leftovers of the duck, a salad, some bread and butter : a whole other lunch or diner !
This lunch was a great way to end our trip. It is pricey, but worth it.

Still one of the best dining venues in Penang for Chinese cuisine with ample parking.
It is more expensive than most Chinese restaurants but offers a more upmarket atmosphere. Food is generally good but expect to pay RM150 per person.

Excellent service. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Food were very tasty and flavorful.

Every dish with non-alcohol beverage pairing is so creative and in harmonious proportion.
We arrived at 6pm and the atmosphere is bright in a greenhouse-like space. Then the dawn followed with romantic lights of the bar at night.
The service is also out of expectation.
We’ll come back again for different menu in the future.

Au Jardin is a destination restaurant - we were only in Penang for 48 hours but we heard such good things we had to give it a try here. We were not disappointed with the food - from the amuse bouche to the dessert, techniques and taste was impeccable.
Highlights include this month’s smoked lamb tartare that even my picky husband liked. Both of us polished off all the curry flavoured butter with some additional crusty bread. We were recommended the non-alcoholic pairing, which made each course a real adventure. We found the magnum sorbet and dessert were pretty but 2 dimensional in taste.
If you are booking in advance, try to get the level 1 space if you would like to see & smell the hubbub of the kitchen. Level 2 is quiet and private, with less ambience and interaction.

Creative creation with great use of quality ingredients. It's the first time we tried a non-alcoholic pairing and the mostly tea and floral based concoction were rather impressive. While I was initially very curious by the century egg ice cream dish, my favourite is still the delicious yet light and refreshing dessert and the sorbet palette cleanser Worth a try for sure!

Iberico pork chop was simply fantastic, tender and juicy.
Cheese plater was good.
The ending dessert raspberry yogurt was an excellent finishing touch for a great dinner.

On the first Sunday of each month Le Venue has lunch special with live music which we decided to try.
The five dishes were all excellent and whist looking small portions we left feeling satisfied without being bloated.
Lunch was very relaxed and lasted three hours which meant the two glasses of wine included did not last the full course and we ordered an extra glass each. Sadly this was the house wine which did not stand up well to the wine previously served. I would happily have paid extra for the same wine.
It is not easy to find parking close to the restaurant and I would suggest using a taxi and then being able to enjoy more wine over the 3 hour lunch.

We went for our wedding anniversary and we had such a great experience! Food was very goooooooood and the service just exquisite! For appetizer, I had japanese royal oysters, so good and especially very fresh. My husband took the giant octopus with gnocchi, very tender and tasty. For our main dish, my husband took the lamb shank. A very generous-delicious portion, he loved it. As for my self, I took the french cod with clams and chorizo, that was also very good !
I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Looks like a mix cuisine as not really a authentic Mediterranean food. Oyster is just average and lack of briny feels. Love the scallop but rather hard : overcooked .. grilled iberico pork not so bad but less flavorful. The prawn spaghetti lack of umami feel. The prawn is rather over cooked. Enjoyable mushroom soup as usual.. prefer smaller bowl served. Good white wine selection and attentive staff.
Great experience celebrating my wife’s birthday there. Petr and his team were engaging and the food was great. Apologies to you Sunny for giving you so much stick. Nonetheless you took it like a champ.

A friend recommended this restaurant to us to try out fine dining so we went in a group of 5. The interior was nicely decorated, walls were painted in red which is special and there are boxes full of wine cork.
Service was excellent, the waiter explained every dish to us, he was extremely friendly and the chef, Petr also dropped by to say hello.
They gave us the menu but we asked if they can design course meals for us with a budget of ~RM200. The waiter went to check and fortunately the answer was yes, our meals will be RM230++. They suggested a total of 8 courses for us and we were asked to choose the main meals from French cod, lamb shank, lamb rack, pork ribs and salmon.
We also chose a bottle of Chianti red wine from Italy with vintage 2019 to pair with our meal.
The 1st dish they served was Japanese Royal Miyagi oyster and they were kind enough to bake an oyster for our friend who does not take raw food. Oyster was extremely delicious and was served with caviar.
2nd dish was Ice plant with balsamic mushrooms and honey mustard which was quite special for a choice of salad.
3rd was burrata with tomato and olive dressing which was also very delicious. 4th and 5th dishes served to us were pan seared scallops which were very fresh/juicy and giant octopus with a very good taste/texture served with gnocchi.
Next was mushroom soup which was very thick and smells good when they carried it to our table.
Finally, our main course was served. I picked French cod and it was awesome! Love how soft and fresh the cod is and it was also served with caviar/clams. Highly recommended!

A nice casual fine dining restaurant. The presentation is nice and food is delicious. Small portion for the price but quality is good. The manager introduced the menu in detail to us, so we know what to order and is very engaging. The only downside is the size of the restaurant isn't very big so there is not much privacy. There were a group of people having dinner at the private area and it got really annoying at some point as they were extremely loud and noisy.
Only 8 rooms here and they are all unique in their own ways. The rooms are huge and so's the shower/vanity area. Each evening, the staff comes in to turn down your bed. Linen is crisp and clean. The dining room and the living room has excellent food and we also enjoyed after-dinner whiskey at bar. Will definitely come back to try out the other rooms.
Update - I recently came back and stayed here for a weekend. They have renovated and the rooms and lobby looked great. The service is still top notch and they make every guest felt like they are the only ones staying there. I love the large towels and the huge bathroom. They also have one of the best looking bar on the island! I got lucky and my room have a balcony with the garden/pool view.
