Great museum.
Kids learn in a fun way about science and technology.
The presentation "Revolutie aarde" is really worth it. Interactive, with beautiful images and it teaches children the importance of taking care of or planet.

The Discovery Museum was a blast! Our daughter Simonka had a great time, especially making slime at the end. It's a fantastic learning experience for kids. Highly recommend for families looking for fun and educational outings!

We were harassed by teenagers from a school group that were running wild and going a bit crazy, some kids that were not properly supervised by their school. I was with my young son. It took some time for the museum staff to respond to the situation (and to believe us too I guess). A nice teenage girl from the same school group, who had observed the whole thing, seemed to help us out. I heard her sympathetically say “this isn’t right”. Perhaps she explained the situation to museum staff? Eventually the staff did properly respond to the situation. We really love the museum. We stayed in a hotel near Kerkrade specifically to visit this museum and the Gaia Zoo, which we had visited the day before. Gaia Zoo it must be said handles large crowds quite well. We will try to visit both places again as perhaps this is an isolated and rare situation at the Discovery Museum. I do not usually write reviews, but perhaps it is best to share our experience.

Huge experiment and learning center close to the central station. It’s designed in the shape of a ship while the inside has about 3 floors with different sections.

It has some fun experiment for kids and adults equally. Kids were having fun time while there are also some very useful info on display.

It also houses a souvenir shop where there are some interesting items for sale.

Exploring the NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam with my daughter was an absolute delight! Each exhibit sparked her curiosity and left her in awe. From the interactive 'Wonderlab' to the hands-on 'Creative Lab,' every attraction was a hit. We especially loved the rooftop terrace, where we enjoyed stunning views of Amsterdam while engaging with the water exhibits. NEMO isn't just a museum; it's a playground for young minds! Our visit was filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable moments. As an adult, I was equally enthralled by the experience and would gladly return to explore every detail. Highly recommended for families looking for a fun and educational experience in Amsterdam!
Amazing! So interesting and very well explained. It's interactive throughout. The organs and bodies are well presented. Definitely worth the money. If you take reading all descriptions seriously allow a good amount of time. I read some and not others and was still in there for around 1hr 15.

This is a great museum for all ages but definitely a great spot for the younger kids. Lots of fun experiments and hands on activities as well as live demonstration and even a kid laboratory!

We visited the Nemo Science Museum in Amsterdam with our young family and had a great time. The museum is very interactive and engaging, with lots of hands-on exhibits and experiments to explore. Our kids loved the different play area, the giant bubbles, the chain reactions, and the science lab. There was something for everyone, from toddlers to teens.

The museum was quite busy, especially on a rainy day, but we didn't have to wait too long for most of the activities. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The only downside was that some of the exhibits could use more explanatory information, preferably not via text, as it was hard to read and understand for younger children and non-native speakers. We would have liked to see more videos, audio guides, or demonstrations to explain the science behind the fun.

Parking was close by, about 500m walk from the museum, but pricey. We spent about 4 hours at the museum. We recommend the Nemo Science Museum for anyone looking for a fun and educational day out in Amsterdam. It's a 4-star attraction for sure!
Impressive museum, a lot to learn and see to understand your body better. Absolutely worth the visit. We enjoyed it a lot.

This is a huge museum filled with interactive science stations, games, everything you can think of. It's suitable for both adults and kids, BUT since it's super kids friendly, the place is totally overcrowded. There's an awsome roof terrace overlooking the whole harbour and the city, perfect for panoramic shots.

I've been trying to see this exhibition for a while now, since they have a travelling setup, but haven't been able to catch it. I was thrilled to see there's a permanent installation in Amsterdam. This is something really special and really fascinating to see. It trully drives home the fact that people are all the same no mater the race, age, religion or anything. To see in real detail the inner workings of every system of the human body is amazing. They really try and tell a story through the exhibit and you can learn so much. Absolutely a must see.

Amazing exhibits of the human body and so much information to learn from in this place, think it was 6 floors of amazing information I've been meaning to get to one of these for a few years and I'm so glad I got time to go into this it's brilliant and very informative.22.50 adult entrance fee online think is 25 if buying at the door.

My favourite museum!! It’s a small museum but we actually spent 2+ hours here! As a microbiologist I find the museum very intriguing with lots of interactive panels and explanatory videos. There was a section where you get to smell food that has been left for years (ew, but really cool). Also really loved the microorganism stamps along the way.

Awesome museum for all. We came during holiday so it was packed. My kids had a blast and so did us adults. It was a bit cold to be sitting outside on the top terrace area but the view from up top was beautiful. Highly recommend this museum.

This is not just a boring museum. There are tons of interactive pieces which are not only interesting for kids. You can learn a lot and have fun. For example could you play to be a surgeon and try out a 3D scalpel.
Also facilities are very good. There a many toilets and you can also find a cafe to have a snack. You can leave your stuff in lockers if you find a free one.

Entrance feels pricy but it’s worth.

photo is kind of a spoiler :^) I loved it! even just looking at this wall only is so worth it, all the amazing colours and textures to see up close; lots of info, on different 'difficulty levels' makes kid/adult/anybody-friendly~ highly recommend (◍•ᴗ•◍)
Very nice place!! Specially for kids older than 7 years or so. Loved the Lab place a lot. Lot of interesting science aspects which you are ALLOWED to touch and tinker with !!! Transportation is very nice. Car parking is available nearby across the bridge!! Can easily take the whole day. For people interested to do more can easily roam around nearby places. Sea Palace restaurant is like 8 mins walk..

A very nice and fun day out with family!!!

Amazing experience with kids. A bit too overcrowded to my taste but a lot to see and try for the kids. Experimentation and natural science. I recommend to visit with 4-5 yo and older. For smaller ones it will be more of a sensory experience than anything else
This was incredible! Quite surreal to think the veins, organs and everything else was donated body parts - very cool!

It’s very interesting, and would be a great school trip for biology class!

Highly recommend if you’re in Amsterdam, plus the body scan at the end is a good indication to know if you need to diet and exercise after your trip! 😂

The museum is big, with each level for different parts of the body & functions.

We paid on their official website a few days in advance, no queues and wasn’t busy when we were there (midweek about lunchtime)

Very interesting place if you‘re not disgusted by human body parts. You can learn a lot about the human complex and it‘s diseases. On the other hand you‘ll see a lot of explanations about human happiness. I can recommend a visit!

Surprisingly good, with lots of hands on activities for kids and decent explanations about what you should do. Cleaely separated areas per themes, with a coffee/restaurant on top. The gift shop was full of gimmicky gadgets, quite interesting to get something non-standard as a present

Absolutely incredible. By far the beat thing you can do. The information and visuals are astounding. You will not regret visiting! Such a good place to being children for them to learn. It's over 6 floors which has a lift snd toilets. Also includes a body scan for free at the end which was pretty cool!

What I enjoyed most about the museum was that youre able to play with the microscope, smell the rotting food, interactive booths. Definitely a good learning experience especially for the young ones.

Fantastic! The exhibits were very well put together and displayed. The staff were great too! Had a really long conversation with a woman who worked in the lab, not about microbiology but about politics. Very friendly, very informative and very fun! Really good value too. Highly recommend!
Although not as big, had exceptional and fascinating displays. Some were interactive with controls for the cameras or microphone. The place was clean and crisp, with the displays being quite well positioned and laid out to navigate. There were a few people there when we were there but it didn't feel crowded or choked at any one spot. Great place for kids, and great spot for tourists fascinated with microbiology or even biology in general.
This place is incredible! Great for a family activity, many interactive exhibits and fun for people if every age! We bought tickets in advance and waited less than 5 minutes to get in. Definitely worth a visit!!

We stumbled across this museum while searching for different science museums to explorer and we were not disappointed at all. Part of the ARTIS zoo and other attractions. If you want to learn the most, plan to be here for at least a couple of hours. We ended up spending 3 hours here and still did not read every placard.

The staff were extremely nice and willing to answer any questions you may have. This is such a great museum to learn about many of the different microbes that exist in our world.

We arrived early and nearly had the museum entirely to ourselves, which was great to be able to take of time to explore. If you are on the fence about going, you should take the time and explore the world that we can’t see with the naked eye.

An amazing museum. A must see. Not even once is enough. My plan once a year. 😊
Specially for schools to do annual tours.
In total 5 Stars although challenges that I hope to improve.
Most of the information signs are in Dutch and German, not much in English unfortunately.
Although in some sections there were 3 languages and wonderful.
I didn’t see rubbish bins in the halls.
My son saw the Lego photo on the profile and wanted that section but apparently no Lego section exist anymore. Pity.
Very interactive. Be ready to spend hours. We were there for 4 hours and still my son wanted to stay and still we didn’t see all parts.
Building
Has an interesting architecture but I didn’t find any sign mentioning who designed and how long it took to design/build it.
Movie
In certain times they show movies that we missed. Lack of time.
Lab
Chemistry lab needs registering on site. Lack of time and we missed it. Didn’t see a staff to ask about age limit et cet. But certainly kids were wearing nice lab coats and all excited in the lab.
Cafe
nice and has a few good options, though not cheap.
Shop
has variety of nice games for kids. Quite number of educational games but not cheap unfortunately. 😅
Travel
From Aachen Bushof with two buses. Not that bad. One to Kerkrade or Herzogenrath and second one till the museum. Just in front of the museum.
Ticket
Entrance ticket not cheap. Around 16€ although covers a whole day, 11-5. Free for under 5yo.
But pity no discount for students.
Wonderful to hear they partner with OecherLab for science camp for schools.

Suggestions:
-A Lab for One health, with sections on biodiversity, Showing parasites, a few science art paintings et cet.
Showing the relationship of human health, animal health and environment health.
Or a big Biology lab with sectors for health, biodiversity… microscopes…

-More of Science communicator staff (with a more visible uniform) walking around and interacting with kids & parents.
Am sure museum can use the potential of volunteers (students or scientists) to volunteer as science communicators.
Even myself ready to volunteer

-Putting a few chairs around for adults to sit and rest can be useful.
You can imagine I had to follow my son for more than 3 hours 😅

-Use volunteers, one myself, to add more English and perhaps plans for future sections.

-Perhaps Stadtaachen can support one direct bus per weekend at least. Am sure many will like this.

-Entrance ticket discount for pupils and students.
Or maybe award tickets for schools to encourage youth to visit

It's a shame that there was almost nothing in the museum in English. This greatly delayed the possibility of visiting everything and doing everything we wanted, as well as passing on everything I translated to my 5-year daughter so she could try out the experiences. A great shame!

This is an amazing science museum and is currently my all time favorite. There are about 4 floors of exhibits and a cafe on the fifth that leads to the roof. The roof is open to the public and you do not need a ticket to access it, though it is only open during museum hours. This is a busy museum, if you arrive mid-day expect there to be a lot of action while people are learning through each of the exhibits. This is great for all ages though most of the exhibits I would recommend for people 7+ as there are larger concepts and lots of information available for each exhibit.

It's a kid friendly museum. It's very entertaining for kids and adults too if you're interested in science. The rooftop is a must-see. Great for relaxing after hours of playing around . You can grab coffee, and snacks. The view is awesome.
Fun place for kids and adults. Lots of activities for kids. Need a minimum of 3-4 hours to explore the whole museum. Loved the science lab. Lots of food options. Restroom on each floor. Rooftop restaurant is great. Easily accessible. Definitely worth a visit.
What a museum! You can easily spend more than 2 hours hear visiting the normal exhibitions and the temporary ones. Really enjoyed the anatomical theatre and the medical section. Interesting, interactive and modern museum that is worth a visit.

Incredible, very unique experience that I never had at another museum. The blend of science and technology very much adds to the guest experience, and doesn't feel tacky. I would work here if I could.
A fascinating, immersive experience for all ages! Cannot recommend it highly enough. The space views of earth are beyond comparison - literally out of this world. Give yourself at least 3 hours, can't wait to go back.

If you visit Amsterdam with your kids, you should not miss visiting the Nemo Science Museum.
The museum is a large, five-floor building, beautifully designed in a very beautiful area of Amsterdam. The museum is located in an area considered commercial and great for walking and picnicking.

Visiting the museum in the morning will enrich your children's experience, as the museum contains on each of its floors a different experience, from human sciences to mechanical sciences to energy and space. All experiences are available to children by touching, listening, and watching, where children and adults can also enjoy an unforgettable experience.

The museum also contains live experiences in its center. When you visit the museum, please try to ask about the date of the live events to watch them with your children. We had a wonderful experience by watching a live show on how to generate energy. It was wonderful, suitable for all ages, and amazing for the little ones.

Just so you know, if you are going to visit the museum, please try to coordinate the visit through the hotel to make sure that the visit is available. It is also preferable to reach the museum by public transport or by walking because access by car is very difficult and there are no nearby parking spaces, in addition to the difficulty of the nearby roads and transportation to the museum by car.

Many thanks to the museum team for an enjoyable visit.
I wish you a nice visit.

Amazing place to learn about microbes, bacteria, and microorganisms.

Cutting edge technology and interactive installation s. Most of the exhibits have live cultures under a microscope.

They also run interactive lectures.

Kid friendly.

Must see, especially if you are interested in this topic.

Very interesting place to visit, showcasing all manner of instruments from the fifteen-hundreds and onwards that people used to advance their knowledge of our planet and its inhabitants, and to develop many fields of science.

If you’re interested at all in biology, astronomy, math, chemistry or other sciences, this is definitely a great visit. You can see everything in about an hour if you wanted, but easily spend a half or full day if you want to take everything in with all the detail available.

Really amazing place! Strongly recommend for families and children! Of course, visiting Museum with friends also will be perfect! Gorgeous!
One of the best museums I've ever visited! The exposures were beautifully done, interactive, interesting. I've been there around three hours and enjoyed the whole time. You can definitelly come with older kids (cca 8+) and for the small ones, there is a nice water playground in the yard (you need to go there through the building but I think there's no need for buying the museum tickets).

Amazing science museum in the centre of Leiden. The exhibition takes you along different parts of the history of science. The museum starts with a nice show about the dissection of humans, followed by telescopes and maps of the world. There are also rooms about diseases and open questions in science. The temporary exhibition currently is about microorganisms and observing them with microscopes. There is also a great exhibition about math with many interactive games to play. The museum accepts the museumcard and is kids friendly. Parking close to the museum is not possible.

A small but very nice and interesting museum in the centre of Leiden. Some quite interesting points if information and some are shown very originally.
Exceptional science museum - no wonder they received an award. Well organised and presented it's really a little jewel where you expect none given the inauspicious façade of the building. Well worth a visit, especially if you got kids.

A beautiful building and a beautifully curated collection. Not a bad price for entry at all and the museum seemed to be and endless maze of rooms all filled with different things. There's a nice little cafe inside as well as a garden and a whole interactive children's area.
The current temporary exhibition (microscopic discoveries) was a brilliant addition for a few months.
Definitely try to see the presentation in the old surgical theatre at the beginning, it explains nicely the museum itself.
I'd say try to add some seating around the building, as someone with a bad back it would have been nice to have a little spot to sit down.
All in all, for 14 euros, definitely worth it.

Amazing experience for the whole family. We were there about 6 hours an left only because of lower batteries :-) it is quite expensive (for a 3 person family 46 euros) but so great place to discover many things and have fun. The Earth from the astronauts view was a cherry on the pie!
An interesting museum. Part of the exposition is devoted to archaeology. Various fossils of marine animals, fish and land animals are shown. Part 2 of the exposition is devoted to the development of science and technology of the golden period of the Dutch sea expeditions. And part 3. permanent exhibitions are an art gallery where paintings by different authors and different periods of the Golden Age are collected. Museum galleries with a glass dome are particularly impressive. All the museum exhibits were collected by the person whose name the museum bears. It is difficult to call this museum conceptual, so 4 stars.

A really nice museum, especially for such a small town as Kerkrade. However, first 2 halls that one enters are quite boring, and only after them the true fun begins.
I found it a huge disadvantage, that captions for the items are placed quite often only in Dutch, sometimes also with German. And only in rare cases English captions can be seen. For me as a person who doesn't speak very good German, and knows no Dutch at all, it was such a buzzkill.

But would I recommend to go? Absolutely yes! You're up for a lot of fun. Note that you will need 3 or 4 hours for this museum, no less.

Great and very cool museum. Has a lot of different areas about different kinds of topics. From biology to technology and environmental exhibits. The venue also has some great events for kids excursion wise. You can even host their birthday there since they have special event rooms for that. Staff was helpful and gave good info. Enough bathrooms if you need to visit one. You can pick up a map at the reception, which I can recommend. Very helpful information and very clear on where you can find each exhibit.
