It was closed when we arrived, we have been told it’s open one day per week with a tour guide. We took a stroll around the place and it’s wonderful… a perfect cafe en pancake place very close by.
A historical place related with second world war. A nice place for history lovers.

As of the moment due to hibernation of bats, it is closed to the public (until April they said), which is strangely did not specify on their site that’s why we went here to visit. Though you can walk around the fort on a snowy Sunday, it still gets busy. You can park your car 2kms away, but you can cycle all the way the fort, and park your bike. Just a shame we did not able to see it, but we’ll go back on Spring or Summer.

A nice and well kept fortress with lots of information on the history. It is possible to rent the place for special occasions. Parking is limited.

Great fort to explore yourself or do a guided tour. The guided tour is € 10 for 90 minutes including a a visit to the big guns! Nice to visit if you are already in the neighbourhood.

Around the Fortress there are many beautiful hiking spots, well worth visiting.
This place is amazing. I love you Netherlands, because you live in love with nature. So many water birds.
If you have an interest in history. Then highly recommended. This fort was built-in 1905. You can't go inside of this fort. It's under construction. But you can enjoy beautiful historic and updated fort plans.
interesting old Defence building that has been renovated very well

Due to the cold winter weather in Holland (Feb2021) the canal in front of the Fort was frozen. Great to see that the Fort openend up for coffee and soup. Nice way to enjoy the cold winter day...and enjoy the Windmill next door.

They did a very good job rebuilding this fort into a great cultural spot without loosing it's original value. With a twist of modern architecture and design it looks great. The fort is finally accessable for everyone. Check it out.
Tourist attraction , historic featuring WW2. Has a museum and a small coffee/tea cafeteria, you can get a time guide and enter the bunkers on a small fee. You can take a walk around the fortress, along small waters
Seems very interesting but it was closed and not accessable in any way. It is a shame.

I think the fort is getting re constructed. I couldn't get a chance to visit, since it was not visible anywhere.

Lovely old Dutch fortress. There is a pancake restaurant nearby, and the surroundings are very nice for a walk or biking. Around the fortress there are some restored bunkers and defence positions, with plaques explaining the story of the fortifications. One of the bunkers is in a farmfield and some sheep were standing on top of it, the children loved it. The fortress itself has very limited opening times, you really have to go on one of the days there is a tour. This is really a pitty, the fortress is worth a visit.

Wish you could tour a reconstructed interior, but it does not exist. Impressive Dutch approach to defense of Amsterdam.
