The service is really pathetic, went there to order some food. 6 staff standing there looking at my face and not even approached me. Disappointing.
The food was delicious and I'd consider it good value for money. I had takeaway and didn't realize that I had no utensils until I parked up to eat as a result it was kinda messy, would have been an easy 5* if the order included a disposable spoon or fork.

I was really really pleased with the quality of the meals and the excellent service at this little side street restaurant on Riccarton Road.

We began with bhajee, which was light, soft, and served as an excellent appetiser. The freshness was apparent, and the portion size was generous, comfortably enough for three people. The presentation was appealing and added to the overall positive impression. Next, the lamb seekh kebab was beautifully presented and extremely tender, pulling apart effortlessly. The flavours were enjoyable and the medium spice was perfect for a wee bit of a kick.

A highlight of the evening was the lamb vindaloo. The spice was well-absorbed into the lamb, which was firm yet tender. The vibrant colours and earthy flavours made this dish feel hearty and authentic.
For a lighter contrast, the chicken saag delivered a smooth and clean flavour. The chicken was wonderfully tender, practically falling apart, and the dish’s subtler colour allowed the flavours to shine without being visually overwhelming.

The garlic naan was another success, with a soft, chewy texture that paired perfectly with the mains, serving as an excellent accompaniment to the sauces.

The beer was served in particularly excellent mugs, adding a touch of quality to the dining experience.

The restaurant itself exudes a comfortable, home-like atmosphere, though the decor could benefit from some enhancement. Service was attentive, with plates promptly cleared after each course. Additionally, the kitchenware, glasses, and silverware were all clean and suited the environment appropriately.

Arjee Bhajee offers a solid dining experience, particularly if you enjoy lamb dishes. However, be prepared for some dishes to be priced on the higher side, though it might be fitting for the excellent quality of the dishes. Nevertheless, it is a place worth considering for a relaxed evening with quality food.
My partner booked a table for 2 at Indian Ocean on Saturday for dinner. Half an hour from her booking time, she was notified that the restaurant had a large group coming in and she would have to vacate her table within 45 minutes of her booking. For a dinner reservation.
Obviously she cancelled as it would be a hard ask to be seated, look at the menu, order starters and a main, wait for the food to be cooked, eat and then leave within 45 minutes.

This is incredibly poor form.

Kenzo next door were quite good though.
Came here last week for a nice date night .
They have there own separate vegan menu which you have to ask for ,
The menu itself is great with heaps of different options, definitely the best vegan butter chicken I've had anywhere in Christchurch using harmless chicken,

I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great indian dinner
This used to be our go to Indian restaurant but it feels like the quality has dropped recently. Our last takeaway had burnt chicken pieces and the cheese & chilli narn had no flavour at all, just tasted like a doughy plain narn. Will probably consider alternatives for our next take out.

The food was divine, service friendly, efficient and welcoming! Prices are extremely reasonable. We will be back!! We especially loved the little elephant logo on the plates.

Where do I start. The most amazing food with all the spices I remembered from my hiking days in Nepal Food was simply beautiful ! Till next time 🙌🔥

We are regular visitors, the C-momo (not pictured) are excellent, the reason we keep coming back. Highly recommend giving them a try.

Very nice lunch.
Very reasonable price and filling.
Thank you
Fantastic ambience in this restaurant. Really feels like you are in Rajasthan. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was fast and delicious. We had a mix up with our Bill as were splitting between families and the manager and waitress were pleasant and cooperative in helping sort it out. Will definitely be back!
Really pretty cafe, well decorated and good service, prices pretty standard. We got burgers, the presentation was very average, sort of looked like something I might have made in year 9 hospitality class, and the flavours were ok, not bad tasting but not exceptional at all. Wouldn’t recommend if you want something special but as a place for a quick lunch not bad. No opinions on the rest, maybe I just ordered something not great.
We had really enjoyable experience here. Service was great. Food was delicious.
Do not buy tea
We were served the two worst takeaway teas, ever. It was just milk and hot water as it had not been brewed before being handed over. There was no tea in the takeaway cup. Feel ripped off of $11.
Nice coffee and a good concept since not many vegetarian cafes around.
Not happy with the big breakfast too small portion.

Other than that great decorum and good vibe.
The veggie patty was too solid and overcooked; it should have been tender but ended up crispy. When we gave feedback to the chef, he said “it's normal, it’s should be okay.” But I think this is not the normal standard for them 🥲

Not coming back if we have second chance here, but it cannot be denied that it is a restaurant with a great ambiance.
Maybe is a good choice for a short tea break.
Had late breakfast from here. Nachos was good and yummy. Vege big breakfast was not big ,that's not worth for the price . Turmeric latte was perfect, but cappuccino was not hot enough. More cabin food options are there. Overall it was okay experience.
No restroom on premises. Need to go out of the building. no Wifi;
Burger was on a dry side. Good tea. Good staff.
Salad was good, no raisins would be great.

Very quaint little vegetarian spot with a beautiful stained glass divider between the seating area/cashier and the kitchen. The ambience kind of reminds me a little of a medieval church and there was even organ music playing. The food was good for vegetarian food; one of my biggest pet peeves about veggie burgers is that the party is often just a mushy healthy tasting disk. The Potpourri Burger patties had crispy bits that were reminiscent of a smash burger (as much as a veggie burger can be). All in all, very satisfying and delicious even to a carnivore like me.
Back again in Dunedin 8 months later and my five star review stands, this time for lunch.

(Previously) Great breakfast and great value. The food had substance, and was tasty and fresh. Pleasant setting inside or out.
Best Indian in Christchurch. And they have an official award to prove it, plus best service. Good value for money. See Big AL's Food Reviews on Facebook for a full review. Extensive menu of food and drinks. Highly recommended place
The ambience of Indian Ocean will give a traditional look but the food served was not up to the expectations as of a standard food. I felt so sad after having dinner from Indian Ocean on last Thursday because I left the restaurant with empty stomach. I ordered for medium and hot spicy foods and the food on the table was not even mild spicy. I never ever recommend anyone to this restaurant again in my life if they are continuing to serve like this.
