Perfect way to end Christmas is eating delicious mouthwatering and finger licking Indian food. We chose Dal Fry, Lamb Manchester and Himalayas Chicken Special and it did NOT disappoint. We were welcomed in very warmly, Moksh as the Manager is very articulate, respectful and courteous. The food turnaround was very quick and all the tastes were a gustatory delight to which our full content stomachs and empty plates are witnesses. Will definitely be back!

The mango chicken is the best around! Highly Rate this spot. Although it's not the easiest spot to get food from, (being in town) it's well worth it. Will continue to come back again and again.

First time we tried them tonight, been a long time customer of another takeaway and now we will be Everest customers. Hands down the BEST curry we have had in Christchurch. So unbelievably delicious. 100/10.
Visiting Christchurch we found our hotel restaurant around the corner was full so went out and came across the Himalayas. We always enjoy Indian food but are usually disappointed in restaurants as it is our house speciality at home. We were delighted with both the food and the service. Really good by our own high standards and would highly recommend. Just sorry that we live on the other side of NZ.
Ordered the Rogan Josh combo. The dish had good flavour and the lamb was tender. The naan bread was fluffy rather than thin, flat and lifeless like you get from some places. Was a tasty satisfying meal and ticked all the boxes for me
AMAZING !! Best cheesy naans ever and curry is always perfect definitely come here or order on uber eats. Have been coming here for 3+ years and it never disappoints. The butter chicken is of course delicious but so are the lamb and vegetarian curries. I also highly recommend the malai kofta or palak paneer if you are vegetarian.
Let not the sleepy outside fool you. We came in on a quiet Tuesday evening at around 830pm and were delighted with a wonderfully charismatic waiter who recommended us the delicious cheesy gsrlic naan, channa masalla, paneer entree, and lamb. The food was unreal and the portions were generous, a must visit if you love quality food!!

My wife and I visited recently for the first dinner of our honeymoon. The service was timely and polite, the atmosphere was relaxed, and our meal took only a few minutes to be served - best butter chicken we’ve had! It was mild but flavourful and the naan was freshly made. Delicious, highly recommend!

What a hidden little gem! This place is hands down one of the best authentic Indian restaurants in Christchurch.
We ordered the mixed platter which was served on a sizzling pan. The fish was absolutely devine, the paneer had a beautiful smokey taste from the tandoor oven.
For mains we had Butter Prawns and Lamb Manchester both medium and the spice was really good. The Butter sauce was the best I've ever had. We also ordered some breads - the cheese and garlic naan was out of this world, so cheesy and really well priced.
I'll be back and I'll also go out of my way to order take out from here too. Nice work team, your food is incredible.

Butter chicken is disgusting never buy from here. Sauce is tasteless and the chicken taste hard and horrible. Waste of money. Don’t bother

If you want the full Indian experience, you need to come to little India. The food is very nice, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. 5 stars

Food was not too bad although we had to wait an hour to get it. Unfortunately they forgot 1 main and when it was delivered to table the waiter thought it a good idea to push in between 2 people and pass it over the table - dropping a spoon that hit my wife in the back of her head. Same waiter had to be told 3 times to stop leaning in over the table from behind me while I was eating. That particular waiter needs to go back to waiter school as it let down the entire experience.

We- my partner and myself- had just arrived from Melbourne the day before with a 20 month old toddler, and was thinking about an easy take away Macca's meal to eat at the hotel. However, a Facebook reel that I watched made me want some naan and chicken. And aren't we glad we went to Himalayas! We ordered a plate of onion paccoras and chicken tikka to start and butter chicken and kadhai goat as mains. Despite the fact that every mains come with fluffy perfectly cooked basmati rice as complementary, we still ordered 2 garlic naans. Suffice to say we surprised ourselves by cleaning up the plates to the last bits possible as everything that we ordered were soo tasty and we could have had more, only if we had the appetite! Perfect flavours, perfect portions and great ambiance and very friendly staff. Not much more you could ask for. We'll definitely come back here again, whenever it be that we visit Christchurch again. Thanks team 😊

I ordered a takeaway tonight and when I went to pick up the restaurant and all staff were busy. The man behind the counter didn’t even have the courtesy to acknowledge me and say I will be with you shortly and just continued to fill water jugs for patrons. After waiting for a few minutes a gentleman finally came from the kitchen and served me.
When I got home I opened my bag to find my lamb saag did not come with rice, was this missing or did I need to order that separately? If so I wasn’t told this when I ordered.
Anyway my lamb Saag had plenty of meat and was delicious.
My conclusion is your foods great but tonight your takeaway service was poor.

The meals were absolutely delicious, and the price was very affordable. Will definitely go back for more.
Amazing food and great service. Best Chilli Chicken - full of flavour. The Amritsari fish starter was amazing! So flaky and moist. Everyone agreed the curries were the best they've had in New Zealand - and we've been here 16 years! Will definitely be back again. Thanks so much

goog guy, food is good, way better than other places, portion size is huge compared to other restaurants, keep it up, i bought lam madras from them and it was packed, other restaurants hardly put few pieces in it and just add mainly gravy in it, but this place is opposite.
Recommend for good tasting Indian curries, plus garlic naans are a good size with plenty real garlic on it, totally yum! Definitely would buy again. Staff nice and friendly too.

Living in India, cannot pass an Indian restaurant without trying it. Didn't disappoint. Very good portion size, good flavours, relaxed atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. I enjoyed it and will return for sure.

Food was average and overpriced for its taste which in my opinion is pretty bland compared to other indian restaurants in this city for value and flavour for money I’d go somewhere else. Service was friendly but awkward with our waiter. The restaurant wasn’t too busy for a saturday night but now I know why from quality of food.
Dined last night in a group of 6, food was excellent. Especially the Chicken Saag. Staff were all lovely and welcoming. The blonde-haired boy that was looking after our table was excellent and very professional. Very pleased with our visit.
We came here for a family meal and I couldn’t have been more satisfied. The food is amazing like always and the staff are so polite, friendly and are amazing at their job.

Have been getting takeaway from here for years, food always tastes amazing every-time, I have never eaten at another indian cuisine restaurant and it taste anywhere as good as this restaurant. Whenever I introduce friends and family to this restaurant they are always amazed at how good the food tastes. The employees are lovely and I will continue to support this lovely place and thought I should finally write a review considering how long they have consistently delivered great food and service.

Delicious MOMOS! The best in Christchurch by far. My favourite is the GOAT CURRY! Always get it every time I’m there!
Had dine in, was the first customer. Great service from the staff. The food was very tasty. The Naan was very soft and fluffy. The entree we had, which was the meat taster, was very good. The curries themselves were rich in flavour and cooked perfectly to what we asked for. Well done

It was insipid and lacking the creamy warm yellowishness of a traditional Korma.

Here you can get the best Dal Bhat on the south island (haven’t tried the north island yet)! It is super delicious and you can get more rice and dal, just like in Nepal! I have no spice tolerance at all, so the mild option is perfect for me. My partner likes the medium spice, it is not too hot, yet gave the dish a great flavour, he says. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and I like the pictures on the wall! 10/10 would recommend to anyone, I’m literally craving this Dal Bhat all the time!
Recently reopened under new owners, these owners should do well. Very friendly and positive front of house manager tonight and the food was delicious, especially the naan bread that was light and puffy. My curry was just perfect for my liking.

First time here tonight and wasn't disappointed. Food was fresh, hot and full of flavor. When we ordered the incorrect amount of Naan, they whipped up an additional one quickly. Great service and food full of flavor. Was a good price in comparison to other Indian food shops around too. A great experience. Thank you. 🙂

Their opening hours are misleading - they close at least 10-15 minutes before advertised. Otherwise the food is like any other shamiana's
Good food. Curry was sweet. Very little poition for $14 while you can buy a good portion of biriyani for the same size from other places. Not gonna go there again. Not worth paying that much. They used to have good portions but could be new owners.
I would give 10 stars if possible. My chef surprise fish was beautiful and service excellent. This place is amazing hidden gem! All of this was for 'walk in' Anzac dinner for 13 people! Not a small task! But flawless and so well done! I am already telling all my friends and work mates about it and will be back no doubt. Thank u guys! 💓

Probably the worst Indian I've had. The curries had no heat to them. If I order curry I want some chilli heat. Lack of ingredients in the curries. Too much sugar used, where sugar is unnecessary. Worse than mall curry, and that is the lowest of the low

As an Indian very rarely have I tasted Indian cuisine as authentic as this in New Zealand. The flavours were great and delicious. The portions were generous, and especially the Naans were big. The people at the counter and the chef were very nice and welcoming even though they were very busy. Definitely will be my first choice from now on.
I ordered uber eat and i have got wrong order. I ordered peas and paneer but i have got peas and potato curry i had to eat that as i was hungry but this is tasteless. Naan is very hard to chew. Worst food i have ever had.not recommend anyone to order from here.

I was so full when I left La Tandoor! Amazing food and service. The hospitality industry is struggling and WE have to be patient with the people who work in these places BUT our waiter was excellent👍. Even though he was the only waiter, he was able to attend to everybody's needs. It was a bit difficult for me to find where it was because it's hidden in a corner.
The food was great, but the restaurant doesn't accept cash. It would make sense to accept cash to keep customers' experience smooth, instead of them then having to transfer money into an account to pay.

So disappointing - have been coming here on and off for years and usually consistent - but tonight was some of the worst Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Jalfrezi chicken (ordered hot, naturally) had almost no flavour and tasted much like a jar of cheap catering sweet and sour sauce - no spices or heat whatsoever, just an insipid sickly artificial aftertaste. Tandoori chicken while usually good seemed like the chicken had been precooked, and marinade only added after cooking rather than being cooked in. I called to check what may have happened but they couldn’t tell me anything. Such a shame, but we won’t be back after tonight’s experience - time to hunt for a new Indian :(

Every herb and spice perfectly placed and the flavour was to die for, and quite simply the best cheese and garlic naan I have ever eaten.
The owner/front house is well mannered, prompt and very friendly.
Myself and my partner left incredibly full! If I could score more than 5 I would. Highly recommend anyone who hasn’t tried this place.
I’ll look forward to visiting again in feb next year!

Chicken tasted off in the butter chicken. Missed one of our naan breads which cost $5-$6 each. Very disappointing and will not be going back again. If I could give no stars I would.
They use normal short grain rice, and the curry was too sweet. Not much meat you can find in the bowl.

Great value for money. 1 curry with the rice plus a naan and you still have 2/3 of the curry left for leftovers. Butter chicken was great! Not too sweet but not too tangy/tomato and medium was a great amount of heat. They also gave me 10% off as it was my first order. Will be going back again.
Very nice food. Very nice people. 100% recommended this place. We came from Auckland so didn’t know that it was mainly a takeaway place and not a dine-in. They served us, which was very kind of them and then later we got to know that it was not a dine-in, which was funny 😂
Disappointed at the butter chicken, very bland, flavourless, super runny… I would not recommend this for it’s good, service was friendly and fast. The food is packed in the standard plastic containers and a plastic bag that says “reusable” but it will still take years and years to break down in the landfill… paper bags could be a food, the service was great and fast.

Standards have dropped. Chicken trebbile food slopped all over tray' only one napkin to clean mess.
I used to dislike this place because of their attitude and poor servings but since the woman have been serving it has been a much better experience ..keep it up please
With out a doubt the best Indian food in Christchurch. 30.9.23 absolutely delicious working my way through the menu everything I've tried is a delicious experience, you won't be disappointed. Any bad reviews I suspect are either competition or a symptom of their own success (busy) which I see they did try to remedy.

Happy to rate 5 stars. Have only ever had friendly service and awesome experiences here. The staff have always taken my allergies seriously and taken extra time to explain the contents of each dish to me, and today they even let my partner and I keep and eat our meals after we realised we'd brought our cancelled bank card to the mall and couldn't pay for our food immediately, which had already been served up. The food itself is fantastic, always. Thanks again to the kind staff who were on today. Best service at the Palms food court.

Huuuuuge bag of Pakora Wedges for only $5 which were super tasty, Butter Chicken was alright, and Cheese / Garlic Naan was delicious!! They also accept Entertainment Book for 25% off. Overall pretty happy.

The onion bhaji was really good, unfortunately the man on the till had a cold and kept sniffing which seemed like a health concern and my wife was put off her meal by this. I enjoyed the curry and the chef was generous to us and another couple giving away some free naan bread.

I wanted to love Shamiana, I really did, every other branch I've been to has been absolutely fantastic, but the palms branch really dropped the ball.
First off, pet hate, serving on chipped dinnerware.
Second, the beef in my beef vindaloo was feral, it was full of disgusting fat.
The vindaloo sauce and rice were ok, the naan was subpar. Unfortunately, this is a branch I wouldn't return to.
