Best Bars in Puerto Rico

Love this place. Very unique and laid back atmosphere. Excellent service and drinks at really affordable prices. Plus the crowd was very chill and diverse. This will be a staple for me for any return trips.

Great dive bar and was open at 11am on New Year's Eve with the ships in town even with the island wide power outage. Great bar tender.

I couldn't have loved this place any more. Dripping with character. Awesome bartender with great taste in music. Turns out we had a mutual friend. Go figure. Sat next to a couple at the bar and before you know it we were enjoying shots and telling stories. My family had to drag me out of there. If you love a real dive with an open heart, old-school punk playlist, and decades of history, this is your spot. If you ever had a good time at TGI Friday's, it might not be your favorite.

This place is the best bar I’ve ever been in my life! If I lived close by it’d be my go to bar daily!

Luis the bartender made nothing but A1 drinks, was a good vibe the first time so we ended up going back. Only place in old San Juan with a pool table, we took full advantage at $1 a game. If you’re looking for something different, good drinks and some pool don’t hesitate to stop in.

The platonic ideal dive bar in Old San Juan. This place was a breath of fresh air after walking past many fancy cocktail bars. Top notch music selection and a surprisingly clean restroom for a dive bar.

El Batey is a legendary dive bar - Alan Ginsburg read poetry here, Hunter S Thompson apparently was a regular here, along with many famous artists and musicians.

The decor is unapologetically grungy and with an astute character. Signatures and notes scribbled along the walls wrap the space in a chaotic and social atmosphere.

The prices are fantastic, the house special being a can of Medallia (local beer) and a shot of delicious aged rum for $5

This is the spot. Dive bar vibes that attracts all the characters and straight crushes it service wise. No frills nonsense great spot for meeting new friends. Luis kills it behind the bar!!!!

The place is nice and interesting. Nice and chill. The main thing that sucked was that our drink orders took a while. The first guy that attended us was cool but I guess it was shift change or break because the second one had attitude. And not bad but just like a conceited attitude. The cigar variety was nice

As an entrepreneur I will always appreciate hustle and small business but this was mediocre to say the least.
I walked for a latte and even though they had a beginner level expresso machine the personnel proceeded to get a bottle out of the bridge with who knows who old coffee.
( I could go in but I’ll keep it brief)
Ok, fine some people don’t know better. But when I notice how pale my coffee is I ask if it could be darken a little bit and the replied with an attitude “ that’s already 4 ounces”.
The beverage doesn’t taste like coffee AT ALL or the vainilla flavoring and to top it off I got a cocktail straw as a straw for my ice coffee, and not even an offering of a lid.

Last but most certainly not least, if you are going to open a business in a Spanish speaking country you NEED to atleast have the respect to learn the common words used in your business in Spanish.
The ambience was not it as it only had patio chairs of different kinds all over. I ended up having my coffee in the side of the street for a better ambiance.
It is disrespectful to the community and distasteful for tourist looking to immersed themselves in the true Puerto Rican culture.
I wish I could give zero stars.

Was walking back from El Morro and bumped into this cigar lounge. I was amazed and happy I did! The decor inside the lounge and drink selection was top notch and the service was great. Sticks were moderately priced for a place like this.

I was taken well care of by a lady that sold me a box of cigars to take back to America. Please stop by if you like a good cigar in San Juan.

The staff goes out of their way to make sure you are a satisfied customer. Honestly the best service and friendliest people I met on my trip! Whoever the 2 people working the front on 3/2/2024 were amazing. And I got a really great smelling coffee handle that’s unique.

Interesting combination of different cuisines!
We highly recommend the wedges fries, La Buren pizza (cauliflower crust) and the salmon lasagna. Live music on a Wednesday created an unexpected fun atmosphere!

Good cigars and great liquor but the best part was the little advice we were given from the lady there. She hooked us up with one of the best beach spots. With all the tourists getting away and just being alone was amazing so thank you! We appreciate you! #PrivateBeach

Small and cozy. Rum infused cigar was delicious. I also had the coconut rum coffee and I loved it. My husband ordered an old fashioned which was uniquely prepared in a barrel, was the best old fashioned I’ve had so far. Overall a nice cigar lounge to just relax and enjoy a cigar.

if you’re not smoking cigars at Montecristo you are surely missing you! this cigar bar was classy, beautifully decorated. they have a whole cigar display room, which varies in different flavors from different countries. the house brand was very good, the drinks were amazing as well. 🤍🤍 service was GREAT!

The cocktails? The cigars? The staff?! This was such a nice little surprise to end our trip. This spot came highly recommended from a new friend we met, and it absolutely shattered expectations. We chatted for a bit with the owner, Elias, who welcomed us so well. Additionally, the staff was so patient helping us pick out cigars to bring home for our friends and family — we found some great cigars and cocktails to snag before heading out for the night and we loved every minute of our time there. We definitely want to drop in next time we are back!

What a wonderful little shop in beautiful Old San Juan. We were assisted by Omar. He was super knowledgeable and informative with our choices. We purchased cigars and whiskey. This is our 2nd time back while visiting Puerto Rico. This young man is such a valuable asset to this company. We hope to see him again soon. A huge plus ,they are military and servicemembers friendly.

One of the nicest cocktail bars I have seen on the island. Ambience and atmosphere is amazing. This is a cigar bar, so the smell is a bit overwhelming after entering. It will take a few minutes to adapt. The cocktails are elegant, refreshing and flavorful. The decoration is elegant and inviting. Service was superb. The bar was exquisitely done and there are tons of spirits. Did not check the cigars but they have a special room with humidity control where the cigars are. One can smoke in the locale. While I understand this is a cigar bar, I wish there was room with clean air or better air purifiers so the smell was not as strong. Otherwise, those seeking to have a nice cocktail should visit here and enjoy.

I love going to Don Rey Cigar when visiting La Placita. The staff is amazing and the non-stop music creates an entertaining positive vibe. Most importantly, the selection of quality cigars is very impressive.

Interesting place with no clear theme: pizza+burgers+fish+tacos=Italian Mexican with steakhouse steaks and craft beer and wine? I had some apprehension and kept expectations low. Surprisingly, the buren pizza was delicious and well made. The dorado was okay but the fish tasted a little defrosted, as did the empanadas, so I need to dock a star for that. But the granos tacos were great too. The chicken wings and croquetas were on point!

A personal note here--its hard to find vegetarian food eating anywhere in Puerto Rico. This is a very vegetarian friendly restaurant with not only the classic veggie burger option but also a pizza, taco, lasagna, pasta, risotto option! Not to mention the appetizers, sides, and soup options. Incredible to finally feel culinarily included on this island!

There is a large craft beer and wide wine selection. Feel free to ask to go check out the beer options as there isn't a menu (yet).

Atmosphere -- not sure why someone called this place cozy in the reviews. The chairs are basic and remind me of the plastic chairs you store in the garage for big get-togethers. There are many TVs showing sports but ambience is off if they are going for a sports bar vibe. There's also a large empty wall where some art could be put in and the ceilings are tall to a point of echos. I humbly suggest for management to see the potential here. With the beer and wine selection and pretty good food, the atmosphere could be taken to the next level!

I don't smoke. But I've gone there with my boss a few times. He enjoys going there, picking out some cigars and then smoking them there in the outside seating. We've made some friends among the regulars that go there. It's a cool place. I would recommend going before 5:00 pm to find a parking space.

This place is such a gem in the city. The seating is limited as it is quite small, but we just had glass of bourbon and smoked some lovely cuban made cigars. The staff was dressed impeccably, made great drinks, were really courteous and attentive. We were able to watch a jazz band play Monday night and I love that they play movies from the 40-50's. Cool spot to chill out from shopping and walking in the sun.

First time here and it was extremely close to my house. It is a pretty place, spacious and colorful. Good menu full of flavorful food. Nice wine display and the bar looks pretty nice too. The service was perfect and the staff treat you kindly. This is my first impression. After I get the food I will post pictures and review about how it taste and look. But for the moment seems a good place to share with family and friends.

Small shop hidden just 10 minutes stroll from the SuperMax grocery store. Good selection, friendly service and very reasonable prices. They even provided a small box for cigars we bought.
You may need to know a little Spanish to get by, but a lot of customer willing to help.

The food was amazing (I was the soup of the day, which was served with 2 pita bread pieces, hamburger, pizza and natural passion fruit juice). The service was really good and I look forward to trying more. They even sell hummus! ☺ Everything was clean. It had a nice, comfy ambience and I loved the design of the place. I'd recommend it.

Beer selection was good and I would've given it 5 stars but many wine bottles and no actual wines for drnking.
