Beautiful and peaceful place with views of the surrounding area. Mostly with fewer or spread out tourists over a fairly large place
This site was just across from our hotel so it was easy to access. What a great example of religious architecture and rich ornamentation. We walked to the tower snd took some stunning shots.
It was 11:40 AM, February 29th, 2024. An extremely unfriendly and rude lady at the reception. Without greeting or making eye contact, or asking which type of ticket we wanted, all she said was '6 Euro'. We said we would like two combined tickets. Then she said '12 Euro' and put her hand out for money. She seemed very grumpy and somewhat angry. This really ruined our first impression and mood to see the inside. Hence, a low rating for this church. We were quite shocked how such a person can work at the ticket desk, especially in a church.
The cloister was okay, although not impressive. It maintained many original features and looked great. The church was also beautiful and not overly elaborated or decorated.

My Fiance and I are looking forward to getting married at this beautiful Marian Sanctuary come August. Gorgeous views of Braga city and a very holy and welcoming place.
Just a small fees to go inside the building. You can feel this building somewhat back in how many decades. There are a lots of blue tiles in the ground floor as well upper floor.
You can also enjoy the city view either from the outside of the building or go up inside the tower.

When in Porto, you would never miss this hulking fortress like cathedral which sits on a hilltop. The alter is lavish baroque style gilded with gold leaf. The granite stonework and the high ceilings provide a solemn vibe. I was surprised to see painted ceiling like the ones I saw in Rome, which is not very common in Portugal. The cloister was the most impressive with walls that were fully decorated with brilliant blue and white tiles illustrating biblical stories. Climbing to the tower, again, more tiles, more stories. But makes the climbing more worthwhile it’s the view of the riverfront and the old town. The Porto Cathedral is a must visit when in Porto. With Porto Card, you can save €1.
Lovely cathedral in Porto, live structure with lots of tile arts!! Definitely climb to the top to get a panoramic view of Porto city! Tickets required to go in, but went on a weekday, no queue and it was very quick to get to the top. We also visited the Bishop quarter next to the cathedral too.
The church is beautiful but it’s the views of Braga and surrounding areas that make this place so incredible. The grounds are lovely with a nice walking path to and from Bom Jesus. Public bathrooms are available but they are not well maintained.
I went to the 11am mass on Sunday and it was a wonderful experience. Even though I haven’t attended mass in quite some time the muscle memory was there and the cultural experience was beautiful. Additionally, it is worth the couple of euros to tour the cathedral and you MUST climb to the top of the tower — the view is SPECTACULAR!

The place is very close to the Bridge Luis First. Which is also a very beautiful view.
I personally found the way to this place very easy but going up.
It is incredible to think that this beautiful place was built here in 1110.

Perfect to go with kids.

Lovely and beautiful Cathedral. You can see the whole of Porto from here. Definitely worth climbing all the stairs to the top of the tower to get the full view. Stunning and love the history within too.
Lovely cathedral with lots of history. Would recommend you review the staircase before you climb up to the tower as it's very steep and probably not suitable for those who struggle to walk/climb stairs.

Incredible cathedral to experience. We had to queue for the €3 ticket, which gives you access to the cathedral, the tower, and the bishop’s palace (which is currently closed for renovations -9.23). Before visiting, remind yourself to take some time with your phone and camera packed away to actually see and marvel at the beauty of the cathedral, it’s content and the stunning views which the tower has to offer.
We came on a Friday afternoon, it was busy but not too crazy. It's a beautiful old church. Walking into the chapel itself was magical, from the floor to the incredibly ornate carving that covered the altar and ceilings. We went upstairs to the tower. The climb is not for the faint of heart but the view was worth it.
Great impressive cathedral, cloister and a range of other rooms. It's also possible to climb the tower all the way to the top for a magnificent 360 degree view across Porto. Only €3 entry for just the Cathedral, or there's a combined ticket if you also want to see the Bishop's Palace next door. Amazing blue tile work contrasting with stonework
Well worth the journey! Very easily picked up our Camino Credentials and saw the beautiful sights from atop the tower. The layout is super confusing but that actually adds to the experience of finding new rooms or halls to explore. To get to the tower, there are a lot of stairs that are uneven and larger than modern stairs. So be careful! Also would recommend coming early morning to avoid the crowds.
Incredible city to visit!! Had the opportunity to see the Porto Cathedral while visiting. You need to experience a mass if your able. The acoustics inside are spectacular!! There was a mass going on and the organ filled the area with blissful sounds!! It’s a free entrance and wonderful way to see the past architecture of Porto.
Note: admission helps preserve the property and its treasures. Located on the top of a hill this cathedral is one of the most impressive things Porto. It can get busy but I suggest you definitely make the track up to the top of the tower amazingly stunning views and also the bishop's quarters is very impressive as well some of the blue drawings and paintings are amazing the level of details just stunning and you won't regret it.
Nicht ganz so bekannt und beworben wie des etwas unterhalb liegende Bom Jesus do Monte. Deshalb ist hier viel weniger los und man hat etwas mehr Ruhe. Die Aussicht auf Braga ist wunderbar. Parkplätze sind genügend vorhanden.

As someone mentioned here, it's best to come here by bus from Braga (line 88 I think) and then walk to the nearby gorgeous Bom Jesus through serene woodlands (follow Google Maps directions by foot). You'll find yourself right at the top of the stairs!

Oh this place is so worth to visit just for the sunset alone. It is really magnificent. It is also good for a walk and you have many great views of the cities and landscape from above. Just like Bom Jesus this is a must see if you are in Braga or close. You have multiple places to sit down and relax in this quiet place and I believe there is also a restaurant or bar at the site if you get hungry (closes late afternoon). When I visited there was some exposition downstairs.
Another hidden gem in Portugal sight made so famous in 1982 when then John Paul visited. The place is breathtaking beautiful. The sanctuary though small sits in the center of beautiful landscapes breathtaking views. Do check it out as if a pope visits it must mean something very special is here. I recommend it! I absolutely love it!!!
