Best Eastern Orthodox Churchs in Serbia

Its a magnificent building that is made at 1935 by an architect. The entrance is quite impressive. From the first moment of looking at the seiling you get really amazed. There were too much history on this kathedral and you should definitely search and learn from it. And there is an old story regarding Ottoman's religious conflict. Aside from that insider of the building is really huge and distinct. There was also a sacrament during our visit and it was a nice experience.

Amazing atmosphere and decorations are out of this world. A calming oasis away from hustles and bustle of the city. The crypt is a must see but isn't always open.

There is an excellent atmosphere here. There are beautiful scenes on the ceiling frescoes. Its historical texture has been well preserved and kept alive. Serbians are very lucky to have such a church. You can find publications with religious content inside. One of the most important points of Orthodoxy in Europe.

The temple is imposing with its sheer size and decorations. Felt a bit too turistic for my taste but anyway if you are in the city worth a visit.

No entrance fee and some shops to buy religious souvenirs available on site.

I couldn’t expect to see this!! Usually the Catholics buildings are enormous and monumental from the view of depth and height! This orthodox dom has all the above and also the frescoes inside are magical shining! That golden temple is really an architectural masterpiece!!!

Belgrade Serbia, The Temple of Saint Save is IMPRESSIVE. The pictures do it NO JUSTICE. The marvelous, massive, magical, majestic, and beautifully peaceful temple is AWESOME. Upon walking up to the temple, it's a nice building. Crossing inside is nothing less than extraordinary. I loved the sound of the prayer candles flickering just past the entryway.

I felt at peace once inside. The sheer planning of this massive temple is unbelievable.

There is no entry fee. There are several restaurants across the street. It's a lovely neighborhood to walk around.

This is the biggest cathedral in the Balkan. The view inside is stunning. You might see people praying; so you should be respectful and not make loud noise. It feels peaceful being inside the cathedral.

Outside of the cathedral is a park with fountains. I think it’s definitely a must see in Belgrade

There is an underground level - you should see it too - this area is very vivid and picturesque and these frescoes tell about the history of Serbia and history of faith in Serbia

An amazing Serbian Orthodox Church that is a must visit. I did not know about the catacombs below, so be sure to check that out if you go. Please be thoughtful and wear pants. No one bothers if you don't, but it is the national church of Serbia, so if you can, you should. The park around the church is a nice place to relax for a bit before you continue your tour.

Beautiful church. Really enjoyed walking around it and through it. Beautiful gold with amazing depictions of Jesus throughout the interior. Not too crowded even when I visited on a Saturday. It is open for most of the day. Make sure to also walk around the park that is right next to the church. Would recommend to anyone if they are visiting Belgrade.

Beautiful inside. Beware of pick pockets. One of our group nearly had his wallet stolen from his pocket. Luckily someone spotted it and was carrying a walking stick to fend him off. It was 3 men who appeared to be tourists.

Even those who are not religious will find it interesting to visit. The church is quite large-scale, with detailed mosaics. There were no clothing restrictions when entering, everything could be photographed and entry was free for everyone.

Очень простой, без изысков храм: светлый и чистый. Судя по количеству прихожан (сегодня, кажется, я был единственным туристом) место "намоленное" или, говоря современным языком - популярное. Конечно, влияние оказал праздник (Вознесение, или Яблочный Спас). Но, как мне кажется, люди сюда идут охотно. Да, сербы тоже освящают яблоки в этот день, а я думал, что это одна из особенностей русского православия) Впрочем, это языческая традиция, которую христианству пришлось принять, что еще раз подчеркивает общие корни славянских народов)

Eine wirklich atemberaubende Kirche. Der zu den serbisch-orthodoxen gehörende Dom wurde von innen mit einer gigantischen Mosaik gebaut (eine der größten der Welt).
Die Kirche hat zwei Etagen: die obere - die Hauptetage und die Untere. Auf jeden Fall sehenswert!

Magnificent! The Temple of Saint Sava is grand, well decorated and a true masterpiece. It’s hard to understand just how big it is until your standing in front of it. The interior is beautifully decorated and the architecture is beautiful! Recommend checking this Temple out and make sure to really appreciate all the detail.

Црква Свете Тројице је саграђена на самој граници општина Врачар и Вождовац, на Пашином брду. Припада Београдско-карловачкој архиепископији. Првобитна капела је прво била летњиковац војводе Бојовића који је преуређен у црквицу. Освештана је 1935. године лета Господњег и у њу је пренет стари иконостас из цркве Светог Саве. Капела је била привремено решење док није скупљено довољно пара за изградњу великог храма. Била је веома важна за духовни живот престонице, јер је у то доба ово била једина црква од храма Светог Саве до Гроцке, и покривала је службом око стотину хиљада грађана. Још од савезничког бомбардовања Београда 18. маја 1944. током ког је овај део града претрпео велика страдања иако у близини није било никаквих војних објеката, сваке године се тог дана врши парастос погинулима. Црквена општина је још 1935. године лета Господњег почела да преговара о куповини плаца за изградњу новог храма, али је то реализовала тек по завршетку рата 1947, купивши земљиште од Карла Хусњика на тромеђи улица Требињске, Крушевачке и Колашинске. То је најлепша локација на брду, на месту на коме се некада налазила чешка колонија. Међутим, погани комуњарски режим је убрзо национализовао ово земљиште са образложењем да ће се на тој локацији направити парк, што је и учињено. Црквена општина је, немајући друго решење, 22. септембра 1953. године лета Господњег донела одлуку да откупи зграду у којој се већ налазила капела. Она је срушена 2018. због дотрајалости, а на њеном месту је саграђена нова црква посвећена Светој Тројици. Изградња нове цркве почела је септембра исте године и радови се приводе крају. За време радова, службе се одржавају у парохијском дому, који је такође нов и чија је градња завршена 2017. Нова црква је саграђена по плановима архитекте Александра Лукића.
