Excellent trip! Captain Rodney put us on the fish and all 6 of us caught our limit of rockfish and lingcod in just a few hours. We had a great time and went home with a cooler full of fresh filets prepared by deckhand KG. Everyone was professional, attentive, and happy to help the 2 kids on board. I would definitely book again in the future. It may be a bit pricier than some of the larger group boats in the Santa Cruz area but you get what you pay for. To be on a small group boat with such an attentive crew was well worth it. Thanks for a great trip Santa Cruz Coastal Charters!
Awesome fishing trip on the Knot Alone with Captain Rodney and crew member KG! Local Santa Cruz charter with years of experience. The Captain knew where to go - we went, we conquered, we brought home our catch! Professional, friendly, great clean boat. I would highly recommend Santa Cruz Coastal Charters. What a wonderful experience aboard the Bay Princess yesterday June 19th . We had a reunion from the Courts . Over 50 People gathered aboard this friendly Vessel. The crew was fabulous, they constantly helped us baiting our rods and untangling our reels . I look forward to going with my Colleagues from Hose1, ERFD . This is the most honest review I can give. The crew super nice and funny. My group of friends caught six fish five keepers. And even if we didn't catch anything we all said that the atmosphere on the boat was fun. Just a bunch of guys and girls out there fishing having a good time.
The boat itself is a typical party boat, but very clean (heads and all). The mates were very attentive and took very good care of our 4 person party. They used real fluke bait (squid and
Spearing) AND they provided GULP! I have never been on a boat that provided gulp. Now I haven't been on a party boat in several years. I cannot imagine that many other boats provide gulp.
The downside of the Laura Lee is this. The pool. I put in my $5.00 to be in the pool, along with my 3 companions. It cost $5 to be in the pool, which is not going to make or break me, neither is the prize, but I want To be part of the weigh in. I asked about it and was told "we are still fishing" ok I get that. I got my filets but didn't ask again. As I was leaving the boat, one of the mates told me that "you lost by a couple of ounces to another guy". Great no evidence of any kind. Sorry that is bad business. Part of the fun of joining in the pool is witnessing the results. I didn't have that chance and I'm not happy about it.

We had a fantastic time on the Captree pride. The crew was very attentive & switched out our poles & bait to accommodate different fish at different fishing spots.
The captain moved many times to get us close to the moving fish. We saw a few whales - a nice bonus. We also had a huge, very exciting catch! Its a giant stripped bass. We did the 12pm and had great weather, definitely check the weather before booking - We really enjoyed the whole day, can’t wait to go back.

Have been coming here off and on for a while even though it is over an hour from home. Amazing crew that keeps the atmosphere lively and always there to help. Look forward to seeing Paul every time! Shout out to Mike and the rest of the crew as well. See you in the new year.

Me and my son and my grandson went out last weekend and this weekend and I have to say it was the best party boat I've ever been on. Captain Joe and his five mates Paul Nick Nick Rob Bruce and even Anthony took great care of us and were attentive polite helpful I couldn't say anything but praise what a great crew
Our first time out on the Captree Pride and they proved to us the Videos on line from this weekend were not just luck . Everyone goes home with fish today. What a great day with a great Crew .
Good boat. Great for the striped bass run. Catch my personal best on this boat overall. Good boat. only reason I rate 4 stars is because I was wreck fishing and had there hooks break on me before so if you go bottom fishing Bring your own hooks. Though there diamond jigs are perfect for stripers during the fall run. Best boat for ocean striper jigging for sure 10 stars for striped bass ocean jigging

For my son’s 13th birthday I took him and 3 of his friends for a private charter with Captain Rodney. I was nervous to bring 4 middle school boys onto a fishing boat for the first time but it turns out I had nothing to worry about! Captain Rodney and his crew made sure that the boys were constantly pulling up rockfish, their poles were always baited and the only phone that was out was mine, taking photos the entire time! We all met our limits and went home with a cooler full of cleaned and bagged fish filets. I highly recommend this experience and the boys are already begging for another trip.

I dive with a club regularly at Oak Beach on Wednesdays. We use dive flags and obey all safety precautions. Today we had divers down (with flags) and the Fish Finder II came drifting through, not noticing our flags at all. Law is to stay 300 feet from a dive flag. We yelled at the boat from the shore and the captain started the engine and drove away, less than 50 feet from the dive flag. On his way out he said over the speaker "there's nothing to even see down there." (Victim blaming.) Well, "captain," if there's nothing to even see down there, why are you even fishing here? A professional captain should know better and care for the safety of all oceangoers. I'd give them zero stars if I could.
Captain Ken and the crew of the Pride are truly the best! They always give their best effort to find the fish and make sure everyone has a terrific fishing experience. Friendly and helpful with children and guests of all abilities.
An absolute blast!! We caught tons of fish and the crew was amazing with my boys. They helped them with everything and let them feel like a part of it all. Captain Kenny was awesome, he made everyone feel like like family. Absolutely recommend, we can’t wait to go back!

We had an amazing time on our night fishing trip. The captain was friendly and found great fishing spots. Sean, the fishing guide was outstanding and helped everyone. He was outstanding! We will be back and highly recommend Fishfinder!
Another great night out fishing. Awesome crew. We all had a good time. Caught a baby shark but had to let it go. At least we got a good video of it.
Honestly I wasn’t impressed with the Laura Lee. The rods are old and kept getting stuck, wasn’t even able to fish properly with the ones they provide for us. The crew was half asleep. I’m a regular on the Captree Princess but for the 7/4 tour it was booked solid. We decided to give the Laura Lee a try. Big disappointment. Every time we went back and forth to the same spots and we dropped our lines for 5 minutes the horn would blow to reel in. Half the boat wasn’t able to be used (including the back) because the crew was cleaning the boat for half the time we were on it. It was unprofessional. On the Princess they clean in between each tour. Everyone was stuck on one side of the boat to fish shoulder to shoulder with others. It wasn’t even the fact that we didn’t catch anything. We know it’s a gamble every time we go out. We had alot of bites, not sure if it was the lure they provided us with? The mates just didn’t look happy to be there, frankly they were straight up duds. They all hung out inside the cabin in back and when we did need help they were nowhere to be found. You can tell on the Princess that the crew and captain love what they do. They make it fun, are always right there to help and are willing to teach you. It was like pulling teeth on the Laura Lee and they could care less about anything going on. Save your money, skip the Laura Lee, it was a waste of $$ and quite the disappointment. Oh and to top it off it wasn’t even the full 3 1/2 hours we were supposed to be on it for, they went back to dock and let us off early. They clearly don’t care about their customers and just are in it for the $. It really shows.
Waste of time and money…..None of us (21person) able to catch a single fish yesterday from 6pm to 10pm. Captain taking us back and forward to same place! Horrible experience !!!
Rodney and KG were fantastic. Landed us on the fish and we caught limits in almost a hour for chili peppers. Caught lings and halibut, too. Fast, efficient and just an overall good vibe. I’ve got fish coming out of my ears now.

Joe comes across as a knowledgeable, upfront, no nonsense kind of guy. A straightforward personality not often appreciated these days. He has a keen eye, and was quick to point out poor fishing habits, telling us what we were doing incorrectly, and what should be done. The faster you correct your mistakes, the faster you’ll be able to land those fish!
All five in the party together (our sixth ended up unable to make it), we had varying degrees of fishing experience, which I’m sure was very obvious. Four of us went along with Joe’s live bait protocol, while I decided to bring some of my own gear and do some jigging. Joe was able to accommodate all of us.
By the end of the day, we brought home two sizable lingcod, and a couple smaller rockfish, and probably lost at least 3-4 large specimens at the hands our novices. Not too many in comparison to what you might see elsewhere. However, we booked the trip with an understanding that the date most convenient for the party was not optimal in terms of the fishing season, the spawning patterns of the fish, weather, and the tides for the day. Of course we want to catch fish, but our expectations were reasonable and very conservative. We were grateful to go home with the fish we caught.
All in all, we had a great day. The swells weren’t so bad, and we managed to keep the puke in our mouths. I would book this charter again, but ideally in April through August.

Our private sunset fishing charter was fantastic! Capt. Bryan and his crew (Kevin, Jay & Matt) made us feel right at home! The crew were super friendly and helpful especially to the novice fishermen on board. Would highly recommend Capt. Bryan and the Bay Princess II.

Limits by 10! Went out with Captain Rodney for a salmon trip and it was lights out fishing. Everyone on the boat got their limit of beautiful chrome fish. If you are looking for a great charter that gets on the fish, book with Santa Cruz Coastal Charters. Now its time to go for the halibut!

Amazing experience! Rodney + team will take you out and help you catch Rockfish, Lingcod and Halibut. We caught at our limit in rockfish along with a halibut and a few lingcod. Definitely going to go out with Santa Cruz Coastal Charters again and 10/10 recommend.

Cool Father's day idea. Unfortunately/Fortunately my dad was the only one in our group who caught a keeper. Not a lot of fish,but still a good experience. Staff was nice and helpful with first timers. Can get crowded on the inside for holidays, but manageable if you claim your section as I seen others do. Staff shares tips so be sure to take of them. Other than that no major complaints.
Best boat. Friendly people extremely helpful mates. I’ve been going here since I was a kid. The mates are great with kids. The captain is awesome he knows where the fish are hense the name of the boat.
My family group of 10 had such a great time on our fishing trip. The crew was amazing! They were super patient and helpful with everyone in our party. We didn’t catch many keepers, but what we did they filleted perfectly. It was such a fun and friendly atmosphere. The boat was very clean also. Great time and can’t wait to do it again!
I can not say enough good things about Captain Bryan and his amazing crew! Taking on a 7 year old birthday party with 20 kids and all their crazy parents (especially me) is no small feat. Hands down the best fishing charter in Santa Cruz. Rodney and his deck hand are amazing - super outgoing and nice. They are very knowledgeable and you get a great experience going out in a small group. Also reasonably priced and include all the fishing gear instead of charging you to rent it. We were talking with a couple guys at the harbor before we met Rodney and they had nothing but amazing things to say about Rodney as well. Definitely booking with him again!

Where do I start? We rented the entire boat for a memorial service for my late father this past October. All I can tell you is from the first phone call the captain was very sympathetic and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed for guests as some traveled out of state the also recommended a great local catering company which helped out big time. I told the captain the location My father requested to have the ceremony and he not only made it happen but pulled me aside after to give me the Coordinates.We fished for the first three hours and had a wonderful time with family and friends. We utilize the upper deck for a little gathering in speech and could not have been happier with the attention of the wonderful staff. I forgot most of the crews name but Kara and Matt were awesome. Very attentive to everything going on. Super friendly and the boat is very clean. My mom also went on this trip and loved how clean it was. We will be coming back. Nice catches too!
Best fishing boat ever...the captains, Bryan, Nick, Jimmy and Sal. the crew Kara Nikki Sal Justin Sal Michelle etc went above and beyond all season. We went fishing every weekend. We were always greeted with a smile. We met great people. Made friends and had the greatest summer fishing trips ever... absolutely amazing fun times and although we didn't always catch. The crew did everything to try to make it happen.. 5 stars. We love the Island Princess
Don't believe the negative reviews here, I've been fishing on this boat regularly for 20 years now, and there are days when the fish or wind and tide are just not cooperating, that's fishing. I've been fishing on all the boats in the Captree fleet and this one is the best. It's called fishing, not catching! The crew is always great, and this boat has the biggest group of regulars in the fleet even tho it's the smallest boat there. Keep up the good work Capt Walter, by far the best open boat in that fleet!!
We had the best time with Capt. Stu and his mate Luca yesterday. We weren't fishing - we were a group of 8 on a family reunion of sorts who all grew up in Northport but all moved away years ago. It was blustery in the Bay but Capt. Stu took us everywhere we wanted to see and no one got wet at all. Capt. Stu and Luca took good care of us and I can't recommend him more highly!
This boat is well-maintained, fast-moving, with a very knowledgeable and friendly Captain. the deck mates are very helpful, prices are good, trip schedule is also good and convenient. they have vending machines on board as well as coffee. They went above and beyond to see that people on board have a very enjoyable fishing experience.
Our first time out, not a thing.... Went back on following week, it was insane! We were hitting them left and right! The perfect experience! The deck hands were great, the captain we had on our 2nd time out was absolutely amazing! Very detailed, and instructive, beyond great, and a great time had by all!! I just purchased our 3rd trip for next week! Excited and looking forward to it!
Chartle Charter's saved our vacation! The day we were heading up to Santa Cruz our charter with another company was canceled last minute. We called Chartle and within 15 minutes Raina had the entire Taylor-Gene boat reserved for our party of 6 for the next day. We caught a 6 man limit of rockfish in 3 hours! Even a few Lingcod! Joe was an incredible captain! Very knowledgeable, great sense of humor, and knew exactly where the hot spots were. We will be booking again soon! Thank you so much Chartle!
Nice spot to fish
Had a great time with my son and his friend. Captain Stu was very knowledgeable of the local marine life and knew exactly where to fish. First Mate, Nick was super helpful. Caught and brought home enough fish to eat for the next few nights. They were great with the kids and kept them engaged and entertained. I highly recommend and would look to charter again with Captain Stu sometime soon.

I've got to admit that the name of the boat(Fishfinder) is rather ironic because during the duration of 4 hours, out of around 25 people, only 4 bluefish were caught. The captain feels rushed and seems to roll around the ocean without any aim in doing so. The fishing aspect was the worst on this boat.
If you are thinking of coming with your kids, I would definitely NOT recommend boarding this boat. People were smoking everywhere, not considering the safety of some kids that were on the boat.
The crew was mainly unhelpful and seemingly lazy except for Matt and Andrew. They were incredibly helpful and I truly feel that they deserve a much better environment than the Fishfinder.

I cant say enough good things about this charter company! we booked a privet charter for me and the boys this past Sunday and we had a blast! 30 years of experience really showed through! Joe was awesome about sharing his technique and putting us right on top of the honey hole! we ended up coming in with three giant halibut, over 25 rock cod, and one giant lingcod!! Overall just an amazing day!
Best boat in the fleet... the crew is amazing, extremely accommodating and all around just nice people to spend the day out on the water with.. Walter and Matt always do thier best to put us on the fish. Jeff, Sean, Andrew, Emma and if I forgot someone I apologize...always have our back, we have a blast! We've have some great catches this year already and plan to sail with them all this summer!

Called this places, got an attitude and cursed at from the guy. They don’t seem to be wanting to do business.
Captain Stu showed us a great time....remember all of our names (13 of us) and had two great deck hands John / Tray. Did everything he said they would and accommodate everyone on board. Will charter again with Capt. Stu in the near future. Thanks again ....

My hubby and I caught a few striped bass but a bit short to keep. 3 people on the boat caught keepers, and many other caught short striped bass and dog fishes.
The other fishing charters were full with people but we had a lot of room to fish. Nice trip! Only thing that I didn't like about this trip was we are going home with no fish. lol
We will definitely recommend the fishfinder to my family and friends.

Solid private charter service. They put my family on some rock fish limiting us in a half days work.
Great trip last night. My daughter and I had a blast. She is 8 years old and the crew patiently showed her how to use the rod and reel. They were very helpful and courteous. It was a slow start, but Captain Jimmy found the fish. Very family friendly (and clean) boat. We will be back again real soon.
Captain Stu really knows his craft. One of the best ways to spend a nice day on the north shore. Looking forward to our company charter trip!
