My daughter has been taking figure skating lessons (both group and private) here for over 2 years now. The coaches are excellent and the staff is friendly. The building is 50 years old, so don't expect it to be fancy, but they keep it clean. If I had one complaint it is that public skate sessions can get super crowded, especially during winter. But they are in business to make money, so that's to be expected.
Bought my hockey skates here and went to one of the public ice skating sessions. The skates I got were excellent quality, and I would recommend the shop. They do give great recommendations on the type of skates to get based on what you are looking for (beginner vs. intermediate vs. expert hockey skating or figure skating). However, I would make sure that the skates you get fit you 100% before walking out the store. The moment you use those skates on the ice, the store does not allow refunds or exchanges if you feel the skates are too tight or too large.
What a disappointing management they have. They charge fee for public session and for their practice cards for small children, and when young children are practicing in public session, they call parents to remove their children for their safety. If public session are not safe for small children, maybe they should not take fee for that or maybe they can have separate hours for those paying customers. In addition, people who are at the entrance taking practice card or payment to let skaters in are VERY rude and unprofessional. We will never go back to this place.

I’ve taken ice skating lessons here for months and went to lots of the public sessions to practice my skating. The skate coaches are all great, and I definitely enjoy skating here!

Only criticism I have is that since the ice rink is small, it gets rough and full of “snow” only after a short time of being open for the public session.
I bought my first skateboard from Chris about a year ago; i walked into the shops with no idea what i was talking about, told Chris i wanted to get into skating and i needed a board to get around the city, and Chris picked up the skateboard under his feet told me that was the one and then took me to the parking lot and taught me to skate in less than 20 minutes. As long as he forgives me for taking so long to leave a review i’m going back soon for a street board.
Someone keeps calling me from here, leaving lewd and lascivious phone messages.

Great rink, great programs and wonderful people!! Highly recommend.
Fun place for public ice skating. I thought it was strange that they didn't offer public lockers...you have to just leave your stuff on the edge of the rink. I'm glad I had pockets for my phone/wallet/keys, as I would not feel comfortable leaving these items unattended in a busy public space. Some of the front-line staff seemed to either not know what was going on or just weren't paying attention. I think I did a full lap around the place just trying to find the restroom. Overall, our experience could have been better. One positive besides the fun of the actual skating was the cafe: the staff member there was very friendly and accommodating (e.g., checking the ingredients on a food item).

I took an adult beginner class here with Anna and she did a great job of teaching and I have no complaints for the classes. Public skating is $15 and includes rentals but the ice is so packed it's hard to even move around. There's also not a ton of times available for public skate which is probably why it's so packed.
I'm grateful for a rink close-by and the people who work there are very kind. They answer emails right away and are courteous. When my daughter got a blister soon after she started skating they gave her a band-aid and a refund. It is pretty over-priced- like everything now, but its the quality of the experience that has me perturbed. As someone else contributed- the skates they rent are hazardous!! If you skate, you'll know immediately. If you don't skate- good luck! They don't change direction of the skate traffic EVER and that's just creating bad ice and an over-emphasis on one side of your skates and body. Lots of people are having lessons during public skate, but not in the center where that is required. This is just not done. Yup I went there with my whole mommy-voice. Really the two worlds of public skate and lessons should never be combined. Especially hockey kids and toddlers --both on the perimeter of the rink. Say WHAT!? I have a two-year-old and I would never bring him here. Unsafe and unfair for everyone involved. They do have these first aid skaters sliding around if you fall, but how about safer conditions? Is someone reading this? Here's the plan:
Fire the first responders, lower your prices to $10/session and just get rid of the seal unless you're under 5. Charge $5 for sharpened skates. Make public skate just for the public- no lessons but you can show off a little if the center, sure. Change direction every 45 mins ) or bring out the Zamboni) Add more lockers and cubbys. Thank you for coming to my TT
Imagine driving 30 min for stick time and it to be cancelled last minute. Joke of a schedule and workers are always late. Who runs this business. Bad rep for the kings. Ice sucks and facility is dirty.
Dangerous potholes in the ice. 3 ft long 6 inch deep crevice along the boards on one side, and by the zamboni doors same issue. Scary to watch your kid almost break an ankle or knee. Stinky and run down. They are in need of some serious ice maintenance, honestly can't believe SCAHA is going to hold playoffs here. Locker rooms are maybe 8ft wide. Automatic lights over the ice turning on and off during a game? Really? I would think with the Kings buying out the rink maybe they would fix the ice..
My son has a on ice practice 2 a week, it’s to small. But his team regularly play games. We love it, hockey it’s a hard sport for strong boys and girls. Welcome to Caps Academy.
Exceptional Service from Ms. Taylor!!!
I cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding customer service I received over the phone today from Ms. Taylor Peoples. Her dedication to assisting me went far beyond my expectations, and her commitment to excellence truly made my day.
Thank you, Ms. Taylor, for making my day so bright!

Absolute best skate sharpening I’ve ever had. Had him do my skates for ice hockey and I’ve skated faster and easier the last 3 games then I have in a long time. Will definitely go back
Once upon a winter's eve, beneath the shimmering glow of the ice skating arena's artificial lights, a tale unfolded that would forever alter the perception of those with aspirations of gliding gracefully across the frozen expanse. The arena, touted as a haven for skaters of all levels, concealed a subtle menace that revealed itself to those whose skills dared to ascend just above the threshold of mediocrity.

The atmosphere within the arena was electric, with the harmonious blend of laughter and the rhythmic scraping of blades against ice forming a symphony of winter delight. Skaters, adorned in colorful scarves and mittens, twirled and spun in a joyous display of winter merriment. However, lurking in the shadows, a figure clad in a striking red jacket and revealing the telltale signs of a receding hairline observed the skaters with an unwavering gaze.

This enigmatic figure, a self-appointed guardian of ice-bound order, bore the onus of maintaining a strict speed regime on the rink. As unsuspecting skaters reveled in the delight of their slightly above-average skills, the red-jacketed sentinel patrolled the icy perimeter, eagle-eyed and determined to curb any sign of excessive velocity. A collective murmur spread among those who had encountered this vigilant overseer, cautioning others to navigate the rink with a modicum of restraint.

The protagonist of our tale, a spirited skater named Emma, found herself entangled in the web of this peculiar arena. Blessed with a natural affinity for gliding on ice, Emma's skates whispered over the frozen surface, effortlessly surpassing the invisible boundary of 4 miles per hour. It wasn't long before the red-jacketed guardian materialized, a silhouette against the backdrop of swirling snowflakes, ready to halt Emma's seemingly audacious endeavor.

The encounter unfolded like a scripted performance on an icy stage. The red-jacketed guardian, a mix of sternness and theatrical flair, approached Emma with an air of authority. He regaled her with tales of the perilous speeds she had achieved, weaving a narrative of recklessness that painted Emma as a maverick in a world of leisurely skaters. As the vigilant staff received the whispered accounts of Emma's "high speeds," a subtle ripple of disapproval spread among the arena's attendants.

Undeterred by the unwarranted attention, Emma found herself at a crossroads—succumb to the imposed constraints or defy the red-jacketed warden and continue to embrace the liberating dance of faster-paced skating. The icy battleground between conformity and rebellion set the stage for a narrative that would challenge the status quo and redefine the very essence of the skating arena.

As the tale unfolds, the readers are invited to embark on a journey through the frosty labyrinth of conflicting desires, societal expectations, and the pursuit of individual freedom on the icy canvas of the skating rink. The red-jacketed guardian, a symbol of restriction, and Emma, the spirited skater, stand at the heart of this frozen drama, poised to unravel the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of the glistening ice.

I visited the ice skating arena recently and had a disappointing experience. The manager in the red jacket, who happens to be bald, watches skaters like a hawk, making it uncomfortable. Their obsession with controlling speed takes away the joy of skating freely. Overall, not a pleasant atmosphere for enjoying ice skating.
Loved it just didn't want to go already. WONDERFUL
Staff are never there, some employees are often rude. Go there and get greeted by crickets. It’s very unorganized, and they have AWFUL ice.

I tried going here by the hours they have listed and was told that it doesn't open to the public door two more hours.

3 stars because it looks nice but minus one star for each hour the pubic hours are off. People with special access know what their special access is. Put your public hours on Google, not special access hours.

Had a birthday party for our 8 year old on Saturday, AMAZING!!! Adam was on it from the minute we walked in, checked in with us often and had our skating passes ready. The room was already set up when we arrived. Pizzas were delivered hot! 100% recommend a party here! Kids a blast!!!

Kids who work in skate rentals don’t acknowledge your presence. They merely grunt out “what size” after you interrupt them from scrolling on their phones. Then they slam down the skates and slink to the back to keep staring at their phones without another word. God forbid your skate is broken (it was), they will make you feel guilty for being alive. Other than that it’s an average ice rink.

Great experience so far, haven't skated here yet but for sure plan to. My husband and I checked this place out this afternoon. We tried on ice skates in their store since we wanted to start ice skating. My husband knew what he wanted and had experience with it but I didn't know much about what I liked and didn't other than a color. The gentleman that assisted us was super helpful, patient, and honest which we both appreciate. He gave the best recommendations he could with what they had in stock. We'll for sure be back here multiple times while we live in the area. Updated review to come soon.
As many other reviewers said, he is charming and kind, but I really feel I was cheated, I bought bearings and they were 80 dollars, online they come at 22; and then the spacers he charged me 45 dollars and on-line I saw them at around 20. He is a dear and found me the spacers in another shop and went to fetch them, but really, it overprices a lot. Also, the bearings are recommended for skate boards, and I am a roller hockey player, not sure if I will resell them or use them 🥺 I really wanted to like him because he is such a fun guy, but sorry, it was not wise of me not to check the prices before.

My kids love this place. Friendly staff and many great lessons for kids.
If you’re looking for Outdoor wheels, this is the place. The owner, Chris is very knowledgeable about skates(Recommend RollerSkates), and he gives off a respectable business with great attitude. Highly recommend checking out if you need replacements for wheels, stoppers, or even just new skates.
I’ll say right away that if you don’t have your own skates, I don’t recommend going to this place. as I understand it, this is the principled position of the management to save on sharpening skates. this is very terrible, firstly because it affects the quality of skating, and secondly, the safety of children and adults.
My daughters 8 and 10 came to this skate shop just browsing for leisure and Chris the owner was incredibly warm and knowledgeable and even taught both of my kids in the back of his shop. He did an amazing job and cared so much about teaching them both. We had a terrific and positive experience here and would highly recommend. Chris also gave us restaurant and activity recommendations too! The kids couldn’t stop talking about their experience - definitely a great highlight to our first time visit to Boston!
Great place to visit. I am not on any team but I can tell that this is a very professional and a well developed place for any pros out there. I went on the public skate this winter and I am impressed. Great place with kind staff who are willing to help. There are also these blue seals that you can purchase for twenty dollars which help you ride easier if you are a beginner. I also recommend you buy tickets in advance so you don’t risk not getting in. There aren’t unlimited tickets as I know.
We had such a fabulous day there that it's hard to review the facility itself, but everything was fine and we had no real complaints.

For the fifth star, it'd need seating in the West Rink beyond just the couple little benches at the ends, and space for hockey players to air out their gear between games at a tournament. But what was there sufficed, with a bit of creative effort.
This rink must go to rehab centers and hire alcoholic abusive men to referee hockey their games. A complete affront to the sport of hockey. The men’s leagues are filled with giant cry babies who scream at each other like they’re spoiled bratty 16 year old girls. Hard pass.

First time visiting. Went for a birthday party. My special needs child who has never ice skated or been to this rink was screamed at and spoken to in a very unkind way by one of the attendants on the ice. He also yelled at other children.

It’s one thing to let someone know the area that they can or can not skate in but it’s another thing to belittle them in the process!! It was totally unnecessary and inexcusable!!
Fun place to be my grandson plays hockey for the Bears.
Pretty awesome. Caps practice here, facilities are amazing, ice is cold. You wish your local rink were this perfect. Only thing is ride share doesn't come to front door.
It's an ok rink. The price is $20 for public skating which is quite expensive for 80 mins of skate time. You do get a nice view of the river but can be a bit hard to see from the rink as the rink is elevated. Rinks feel a little smaller than most which results in center ice being reserved for private skate lessons. It's the main all year round rink in nyc

Needed a new pair of skates and was recommended by my brother to go see Dante instead of go to a random hockey store and I am extremely glad I did! Dante got me fitted and had me try on multiple skates and find out which ones fit best! He then ordered a special pair in my size for wide feet and I had them quickly shipped to the store where he had them heated and specially fitted to each foot and then he sharpened them absolutely perfectly! An absolutely incredible experience and deal as the price couldn’t of been beat and the knowledge and advice he gives you is brilliant, I would highly recommend going to see him and get your skates the right way if your serious about skating! Best of luck to ya and thank you DMC Sports and Dante specifically for such great help!

Large complex, quality ice, great seating areas. NO HEAT. No heat in the locker rooms, lobby, elevator or bathrooms. No where to get warm unless you happen to be the guy making the pizzas and standing by the oven. Also no hot water in the bathrooms for when you wash your hands.
The guys running the pizza shop/snack bar were very nice. Pizza was good.
But again—-for the prices being charged for parking, public skating, pizza, etc—-turn on some heat.

We had our child's 9th birthday party here, manager was great, we had a corner with semi open to public but it was perfect, we had so much room for guest, strollers, their things. Ordering food was easy, and if guest wanted something else they could go order themselves. Food was pricey outside of party. Gets crowded in the seating area, but overall staff was friendly and helpful. I would do another birthday party here.
I would suggest the ice skating buddy Handles for kids that never skated. Few tears and falls and fear. But overall everyone had a great time.
Rose was great as well!
Thank you!

I have to say this is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Your one and only single employee is rude and incredibly unprepared for the rush of this open skate. After now waiting for over 37 minutes to purchase skates (the exact skates already sized) and have 4 pairs sharpened he just made it abundantly clear we will most likely not be able to have our skates sharpened for open skate.

This is ridiculous and we will not be purchasing ANYTHING we had planned at this point which was around $700 of merchandise. What a nightmare.

No one seems to know when they open. It's based on "when he shows up". Wasted my time driving here.
Parking is super easy here. Free lot adjacent to the rink. The rink itself can be easy to miss, though, as it's not in the same (giant) lot as the bowling and other Pickwick places nearby.

The public skates can be really crowded here, and they allow teenagers to push each other around on seals, which can sometimes get out of hand. The rink is huge (yay) but the ceilings are tall (boo), so if children are screaming, it can get real echo-y.

If you book a public skate ahead of time (even if it's a few minutes beforehand), you can save a few bucks on a public skate. I'd highly recommend showing up early, so you don't have to wait in a huge line and waste ice time. If you're laced up when the Zamboni finishes, you can get on the fresh ice fairly quickly at the beginning of the public skate.
Thought about it. Seems like a great idea. I laughed when I saw it and feel bad for those who spent money on this. The ad makes it look very cool. In actuality, you're skating around on a small surface and you're right in the middle of people looking at the views. To me it's a scam. My guess is most people purchase without seeing it and are disappointed.

It was crowded today, Sunday public skate from 2-5pm, but my girls had a blast on the ice and you can't beat the pricing for as long as they skated.
I'd love to see more comfortable seating for spectators or at least more tables and chairs, outside the rink, but otherwise we had an excellent time for our first visit and we can't wait to become regulars.
My FAVORITE ice skating rink by FAR!! Amazing coaches, pretty decent rental skates, the ice is almost always manageable. It does get a little crowded sometimes, but I would HIGHLY reccomend it for anyone who wants to ice skate, especially for the first time!

Dante and Dylan are a perfect team. Between the 2 of them, they have so much knowledge about ice sports. They were super helpful to get my family and I the right skates. They spent the time to make sure the ice skates fit us properly. Whether you are a novice or expert, they will give you the right advice.
Nice rinks, primarily geared toward hockey, but they don't have seating inside all of them. Expensive parking and the constant stream of noisy hockey players through each rink can be frustrating if you're attending a figure skating event or similar, quieter performance. It's one of the best options for indoor skating in the area, though.

Dante was extremely professional to every skilled and every novice skater that came through his shop door. He was so kind to help our family start skating, telling us what we needed and what we didn’t. We are a family of former athletes with bad feet, and he made sure we had the right adjustments and followed up with him regularly so we wouldn’t get injured. He takes incredible pride in his work, he has worked hard for his skill and “superpower” as I will put it to understand the foot. He and Dylan were a great team, and their thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
This was my first time going to this rink. I like that the name is on the building in big letters, easy to spot. It has its own parking lot but it’s kinda small. Google says street parking is tough in the area and I can see that.

There are two skating surfaces inside. A front rink and a back rink. Public skating was on the back rink when I went. Hockey in the front. I was there during the week in the afternoon, so the ice wasn’t crowded and it was smooth.

Word to the wise, this rink is cold!! I know how to dress for the weather and for ice skating and I needed gloves and another layer here. The only other rink I’ve been to that was really cold like this one was Iceland in Van Nuys. Definitely coming back just wearing more layers.

They’re doing construction in foyer but they’re open.

I think Ice World has great professional staff providing semi individual attention to figure skaters.
Being open year round for skaters is great for skaters so they can always be in shape year round.

The establishment is very clean and not worn.
I enjoy dropping my daughter off there as I feel she is in a safe place.
They offer programs for all types of skaters and themes.
Cool indoor rink on the piers. Well maintained, spacious. They provide skate rentals and other safety equipment as well. In the evenings, you can watch little kids play ice hockey. Its adorable

I brought my 2 children, aged 6 and 8, here on Saturday 10/1 for the evening light show skate, from 7:30 to 9:30pm. They hadn't skated before, and I hadn't in 30+ years. They were afraid, but excited to try. They each held the side wall for awhile, until my 6 year old, Andrew, asked another skater for help. Andrew happened to ask Kevin, an employee, to show him how to skate. Kevin was incredibly kind and encouraging, contributing to Andrew loving his skating experience. Andrew now wants to continue with skating lessons, followed by hockey lessons, and I honestly have to give Kevin the credit for helping him enjoy this sport. Thank you!
It's always a good day when Ovechkin parks next to you. I was surprised because I thought they had a specific Capitals player entrance from parking garage. I really wanted to do the whole "big fan" routine, but it was early in the morning, and I try to let famous people go about their lives without distraction. But I really, really wanted to. On a low note the Potomac Patriots U12 lost 6-2 against the Caps Academy. It's a beautiful facility and the ice surface is fantastic. The only negative is Capitals ice time yields early morning games. Next week, at least drop time is 8 am, no need to get up at 5am.
I can't get a soda to drink on all machines. A little dirty on floors. It's cold there.

I've gone to this rink for years since I was a little kid and I absolutely love it here. It's so fun coming here with friends and family and the staff are always nice and the concessions are great. The rental skates could be a bit better, but besides that this is one of my favorite places to hang out and skate!
Such a great experience - Chris brought my incredibly rusty back to life! Rides better than when I first bought it — he upgraded my bearings and gave me a few lessons on how to take care of my board (i.e., don’t ride it through snow / road salt). I would highly recommend. I hope I don’t need to stop by for repairs anytime soon, but I may need to stop by and say hello when I’m in the area. Thank you again Chris!
This shop is the real deal. I needed trucks and wheels to go with my new deck and Chris hooked me right up. Gave me various options and explained them to me then let me decide what was best. Then he put them all on my deck for no extra charge and I was on my way. Very happy.

Staff was nice. The price was fair for the public session, I didn't see any issues with the rental skating shoes, and the rink seemed well maintained and lit. Other skaters were nice, mostly kids and teens having fun on the weekends. I had a good experience, would come back again. There are affordable classes too.
I've been coming to this place before pandemic since I was a high school student! The prices to rent out the skates and tickets are affordable! I would always come with friends after school or on the weekends with my cousins. Hopefully this pandemic calms down because I've been wanting to come back here for awhile!! Great place to skate! They have 2 seperate ice ranks usually one of them is being occupied by the hockey players and the other for the public use.
Great time for and with the shorties. Kids had a blast. Skate rental was a breeze and had everything you need their to keep the shorties happy...soda, drinks, food.
Chris was wonderful - everyone who works there was pretty great. I'm a beginner skater, so they all helped me out with picking a board (which I'm absolutely obsessed with), and Chris even took me out & helped me learn how to ride it! Lots of personalized help and a truly energetic spirit for finding your best fit. Excited to hopefully be back here a lot as I get into the sport - best little joint in Boston. :-)
The owner, chris, was extremely kind and helpful. I came in looking for a skateboard as a beginner and he helped find the right fit for me. He even taught me the basics of skateboarding; took me right outside the shop and gave me a lesson for about 20 minutes, it was fantastic! I’d highly recommend this skate shop! Oh also I’ll attach a photo of my board!

They still have a strict mask policy for people who are by themselves and not around anyone else. I was kicked out for that reason. The hockey players and the refs don’t have to wear masks even though they’re the ones not social distancing. It’s a shame, I liked this place but illogical policies like this make it hard to support.

One of skating rink in MD with good facility. Large 2 rinks. Rink 2 used to be outside rink now converted into indoors rink. They have good COVID19 protocols as the place sanitized and cleaned frequently. Their cafeteria are still close unfortunately. The vending machine are outdated and old with no healthy food options. One thing you need to be aware of are the hockey players and coach. If you see them on the rink AVOID them. They are super RUDE on and off the ice. Both of the adults and minor hockey players need to learn manners.

Very happy with the service, Dante was plesant to deal with, he was patient and informative. Great prices on the skates and sharpening.
I went here for a hockey game. Parking in the garage is expensive ($33 for about 2 hours) and I'm not sure where else to park. They have a nice large elevator to take you to the rinks and wide stairs if you prefer stairs. When you go In it is a very large open area with tables to sit and eat. The snack bar has muffins, chips, bagels, pizza, garlic knots and some salad choices. Not bad but a few more choices for protein would be nice for our athletes before or after game meal. It is also a little pricey. A regular can of soda was $2. Pizzas start at $19.95 for a cheese pizza but it was good. The East rink where we played was nice because the netting doesn't go all the way around and you can take better pictures of the game. After the game my son said the ice was good so that's a plus. Locker rooms were clean but very small. The pro shop does sharpening and is nice, offering hockey and figure skating equipment. Overall this rink has everything you need to have a great time!
Fun and relaxed place for the whole family. Recently remodeled and it looks great. You can rent ice skates if you don't already have a pair. All ice skates are new and clean. There is a small cafeteria where you can get a quick snack and a hot chocolate.

My son struggled with his skating, partially due to some pronation issues. Mike and Dante are experts who helped us with his skates to correct this. His game and his enjoyment improved immediately and foot pain disappeared. We now drive to Cozzi Sports from out of state to buy skates, it is well worth it. Mike will spend as much time as is needed to ensure the correct fit and is a true expert.
Professional service and great results
Nice indoor rink with high quality ice and LOTS of kids learning various stuff. Their rented skates were really comfortable, among the best I’ve had. Perks available for new yorkers.

Helped us make the right purchases for our family. Very knowledgeable and easy going. Will only shop here going forward for all our skate needs!
Great venue! They host Caps practice and numerous other ice related sports like synchronized, figure, and recreational skating. Parking is reasonable in the garage at just a buck for 3 hours. As of this post there's construction taking place in the complex but doesn't negatively impede the experience. Should be even better when completed.

I've known Dante for many years, he is the best. I've been in this sport for over 40 years, NO ONE can compare to him. He's been sharpening my skates since I was a kid, once I turned professional I toured with two pair of skates so I could Fed Ex my skates to him for sharpening, I have 3 pair of skates, I still send them home to him for sharpenings, he is the best. He takes great pride in fitting skates, mounting blades & sharpening. He is a true artist. As a figure skating coach, I always tell all of my clients that he is the only person to go to for skates. He has ALWAYS had the best prices for skates. I am in Miami now; my high level & beginner students all get their skates from Dante. Dante, Andy & Michael are simply the best. Thank you for all of your years of outstanding customer service.
