We just saw Jen for a foot injury for my 3 year old and she couldn’t have been nicer. She was thoughtful, took time to explain things to my daughter and to us and just made the whole experience so much better. My daughter is still talking about ‘Dr. Jen’ and the princess stickers and coloring book she was gifted. Thank you!!
I was taken quickly. The intake assistant was very excellent, and the Doctor Who stitched me up was also excellent. They both were compassionate and explained everything they were about to do. I felt I got very good care there and I would go back again.
Came in for earache. Check in process was done swiftly. I believe my nurse was Mariana which was very nice. Doctor was very caring & helped out. Definitely recommend.
The doctor was uncomfortably close to me when simply talking. While she was practically in my ear talking to me she was rubbing my back and that was just incredibly creepy. To top it off she blatantly disregarded my concerns. I left feeling as though I wasted time and still concerned about the pain I’m in. Also, I expected to be in the waiting room for a while, but to have to wait ~45 minutes between seeing the nurse and the doctor just for the doctor to spend 2 whole minutes invading my personal space.

I’d literally rather walk to an ER on the other side of the country than go here again.
Went to AFC for severe pain in neck and shoulder. The receptionist was welcoming, engaging and patient while i looked for my insurance info ( Tufts hadn’t sent the card yet). She found the info and was very nice about it. The nurse who took my info and blood pressure ( I forget his name) was very nice, took interest in what was wrong and assured me the Dr would be here shortly. Dr. Lisa Tardif, MD addressed my shoulder issue promptly. and put my mind at ease. Thank you!
I fractured my arm and was able to make an appointment online for Sunday morning. Waited about 5 min when I got there. They took an exray gave a splint and a referral. It all took less than an hour. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. So much nicer and faster than any ER.
Great urgent care center! I’m from out of state and had to stop in unexpectedly when I injured my thumb while working in the area. Had the pleasure (and blessing) of being seen by Dr Lise Tardif (an actual MD). She was so kind and compassionate in her care. Put me right at ease. Such an amazing individual! Thank you so much! You were honestly so skilled I didn’t feel any of the five stitches you put in. Feeling much better now. Thank you again Dr Lise!!
Very fast, friendly, and easy! I needed a PCR test to rule out covid because I got sick a few days before overseas travel. This place had next-day appointments. I was in and out in probably 5 minutes, with results emailed to me within the hour (they have their own equipment on-site). Hardly anywhere has reliable PCR test availability these days, whether on-site or sending out to a lab, so I'm relieved to have found this place. I'll definitely be back next time I need a quick PCR test.
Super efficient and organized professional health consultation with available vaccines as needed, no extra nonsense. Highly recommend. No waiting past appointment time, and might even be taken early if arriving early.
Very informative. Good service and great information. Easy to get appointments. Super helpful in terms of prep for travel.
Great service, all explanations are clear, highly reccomend.
Doctor failed to show up for my 8 am appointment. No explanation, very unprofessional. I was simply told I could wait or reschedule. There are better options available for these services, which are also quite expensive. I don’t recommend this provider.
Quick and easy process ahead of my travels! Rachel was kind and incredibly knowledgeable. She shared lots of great tips even down to what bug spray is best to use. I feel so prepared for my trip!

The office visit and travel vaccine weren’t covered by my insurance. The office visit was $120 plus the cost of the vaccine which was $422. They don’t post the prices online so here’s a picture of the prices as of February 2024. You’re welcome!
I visited the Washington Travel Clinic for my immigration medical examination and would highly recommend the clinic!

I was pleased with the details the website provided beforehand. It went over necessary vaccinations so I was able to get the required boosters (at a separate pharmacy and covered by my insurance) prior to my examination.

The appointment was easy to schedule and I got in right on time. Dr. Akl was friendly, professional, and helpful in answering all my questions.
A very thorough explanation of the particular shots we needed based on our travel locations and why they are recommended, presented in an extremely professional manner.
Great experience getting my immigration physical. Upfront pricing and info on the website was important for me. Plus the whole process from booking to check out was very easy and efficient.
Professional and friendly. Explained everything well. No pressure and making immediate decisions. Great experience.
My appointment with Passport Health could not have been better. I was fully informed of my needs and given information to help me protect myself on the trip. Needed vaccinations were administered quickly and professionally. My visit was completed within a half hour. I was totally satisfied.
Jaime was Great! Very thorough and helpful.
Parking is terrible, but aside from that, this place is fantastic!
Other than insufferably long wait, the doctor and nurse were both attentive, personable, and thorough. The doctor has great bedside manner and instills confidence!
Aside from waiting well over 90 minutes, I was quite satisfied with the visit.
Perhaps you should add another AFC in Marlborough to better spread the business!
Passport Health is wonderful! They have Flu-blok, the egg-free version of the flu vaccine every year. Cheree, the nurse who administered my vaccine, was very kind and professional…As much as I don’t like needles of any kind, I barely felt a pinch. That was amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I have a complicated upcoming trip to Europe and Africa, involving stops in dozens of countries over a 3-month period. I received excellent advice from Rachael in the 19th Street office in DC. She is very smart and detail-oriented, and was very thorough in taking me through all the travel and medical concerns that I am facing; and she did a wonderful job in advising me on which medications to take and other safety precautions. She also has a very practical and kind manner in giving advice, and in administering the shots I needed. She's the best!
Save money by using CVS Minute Clinic instead. After comparing Passports prices, I chose to get my travel vaccinations and malaria pills at CVS Minute Clinic and saved a lot of money. Typhoid vaccine alone was more than $50 cheaper at Minute Clinic. And they provide the same travel health consultation as Passport Health. If you need the Yellow Fever vaccination, it may not be available Minute Clinic, so compare prices at other travel clinics. Re: insurance coverage--most travel health services and vaccines require you to pay out-of-pocket. Whether your insurance company covers the costs, or will reimburse you afterward, depends on your carrier and your plan. It's worth calling your insurance carrier ahead of time to find out.
Rachel is exceptional - a professional, efficient, and well traveled. I would happily send all my students and friends to her for any exotic travel needs and feel confident that they will stay safe and be best prepared for their trips.
My visit with Patricia was worth the hefty price (no insurance coverage offered). Since it is my first visit to the lower Southeast part of Asia, I opted to try this travel clinic. Patricia was very informative and offered good tips to prepare for my trip. In addition, she filled out the yellow travel vaccination cards for us while the other practioner my husband had did not do so and he was 'pressured' to take shots that may not have been necessary since he had previously visited the destination.
So I am appreciative of the fact that Patricia did not pressure us to take any additional shots but just gave me her recommendations based on latest CDC guidelines.
Highly recommend her.
The reviews here are totally misleading. This place is a scam.

First, this medical office is shared with a music teacher. This was a little confusing. The space is super old and not very clean. Doesn't make me feel comfortable getting any immunizations.

Second, be prepared to pay for parking. The parking isn't expensive but you have to know exactly how long it is going to be. And if it goes over, you have to pay the difference. On top of that, the parking attendant could not figure out how to use their credit card machine and made us late for our appointments.

Last, this place is a complete rip off. For everything the nurse told me which I had already googled beforehand was $174 for two people. There are things he couldn't discuss and was trying to upsell immunizations that we had already had as children, and didn't need again. The prices for vaccinations were ridiculous, ranging in $200-$600. The nurse claimed they were hard to find and we wouldn't be able to locate them easily. We decided to not move forward and googled in the car all the pharmacies that had the vaccines we needed. We saved $900 per person, so $1800 total.

They will INSIST that health insurance will not cover any travel vaccines, but PLEASE check with your insurance first. Because ALL of ours were at least partially covered.

My recommendation is to use the CDC website and use their recommended list of providers for vaccines. The CDC website is what Passport Health uses. Nothing else.

UPDATE: We went to the Giant Pharmacy Travel Clinic as suggested on the CDC website. They have a medical professional on staff in some locations that provide complete travel advice just as Passport Health did. The fee with Giant was $27. Insurance partially covered our vaccines EVEN IF IT WAS ELECTIVE. It ended up costing us $589 for two people, one got 3 vaccines, the other got 4. Whereas Passport Health wanted to charge us OVER $1500 each. As you can see in their response below, they STILL insist that their vaccines are hard to find and insurance won't cover it at all. But please DO YOUR RESEARCH beforehand. You will be pleasantly surprised.
This was my first time using Passport Health. Everything from booking my appointment to receiving vaccinations was easy and efficient. Staff were friendly and thoroughly explained recommendations and options.
The team is very personable. The nurse (Karen) was very knowledgeable and patient. She answered all of my questions. The only draw backs are they don’t accept insurance and like most medical offices, I had to complete a few pages of paperwork, a lot of which I’d already answered online.
To my knowledge, Passport Health is the only one-stop place to get travel vaccinations in Richmond. They’re familiar with what’s needed for every destination.
I was referred to Passport Health by my doctor. He said not only does his practice not stock most vaccines, but also he’d have to research which vaccines were necessary for my trip. Passport Health makes this part easy.

Passport Health is a great local resource for those traveling internationally. I 100% recommend them.
I found out last minute I needed a rabies vaccine for a trip and called over 10 places until I finally was directed to passport health. They were able to get me in last minute and got me exactly what I needed. All while being friendly, helpful, and accommodating! Thank you so much!
Outstanding experience using this travel clinic. The service is very friendly and efficient. It was very easy to make appointments. They are very transparent about the cost of vaccines, and their prices compare favorably to other travel clinics in the area. I highly recommend this clinic.
Found this place from a quick google search for an upcoming international trip and decided to check them out. Getting there - remember it’s on the lower level of a condo building. My google maps sent me and here and I double checked the location to confirm I arrived at the correct address. I added the directory photo to assist you. Basically walk straight past that directory sign and the office is on your left side. Visit- tip, have a list of prior vaccinations ready because you will need them. Nice office staff and very knowledgeable in providing healthcare and basic international travel advice too. It will cost you $75 for being a new patient but again it’s nice to get the education and necessary vaccines to stay healthy abroad. Give them a chance!
The nurse who saw me today was very helpful and kind! Very easy to get an appt and transparent pricing on the website. I had gone in mistakenly for the wrong immunization and he helped me determine that I didn’t actually need the shot (which saved me $300) as well as gave me a replacement yellow card. This place will definitely be my go-to for any future travel needs.
I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are about. Even though I did my research on what vaccines I need while traveling, the nurse practitioner was extremely knowledgeable when it came to what I actually needed. He didn't push me to buy the vaccine there. He actually let me know where I can get the additionally vaccine possibly covered by my insurance. I'm going to be a return patient to this clinic as they are very quick, knowledge, and cheaper than every other clinic in the area. I was in and out in less than 10 mins!
I had my immigration medical exam here and it was a breeze. I made my appointment through their website and all other correspondence was promptly replied. Chris was professional and the process itself was direct. He was also very informative and helpful to sort out any questions and requirements for my paperwork. Transparent fee was also a major positive point for me.

Highly recommended for immigration medical exam.
Expensive? Yes. Thorough, knowledgeable, and efficient? Absolutely!! Nurse Pete had all the information I needed for my trip to the Far East, and he had all the vaccines available. No waiting, no delays. He gave me excellent tips and recommendations for traveling in those countries and gave me an informative package of documentation to read before travel. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. Except for the sore arm, of course!
Nice facility. Ortho Institute provides fine physical therapy. One of the few therapy pools in the area.
It was quick and efficient. Didn’t you what they were talking about. And they did not try to oversell me. They offered me what the maximum protection could look like but recommend a balance protection.
Had a really great experience with the primary care doctors & with counseling services but not with psychiatry. I asked them for help getting me set up with a provider for after I graduated and they provided no help.
I have a phobia of needles for sure but I travel a decent amount and know that I need to be vaccinated. I had been looking for 2 months for someone who can make an accommodation to my situation and my doctor recommended these amazing professionals. Their office is relaxing and I can't thank them enough for making me feel at ease.
So does Capital Medical Associates still exist? When I call the number I get "the number is not allocated" and the website has been suspended. How do I get my medical records?
Highly recommend before any international trip. The NP I saw was thorough, kind, and informative about all vaccines and prescriptions recommended for my destination. Upfront about costs as well.
Super convenient location to get a rapid result Covid test valid for resident/military travel to Japan. You can schedule an appointment online via their website. After taking the test, you wait in the lobby about 15 minutes and they’ll bring out your test result. They even had the form Japan requires on file so completed that for us too. You should bring your original passport with you for the COVID test for travel. Cost was $195 and they do not take insurance but will email you an itemized receipt to submit a claim to your insurance. One tip, the building entrance is not right on Connecticut St., it’s around the corner just next to this Smoothie King.
Everyone was super nice and accommodating, made me feel comfortable. I’m not usually good with giving blood, but they were quick, didn’t really hurt at all, didn’t pass out, and you get some free juice! :)
I had to go to therapy here and met two wonderful men that helped me get off crutches and back to walking on my own.. I don't think I said thank you enough. The nice ladies at the window was very nice and polite. I would like to thank them again. I tore my ACL, I didn't feel like I was able to do it, but I felt courage when I went there. I'm walking on my own without surgery. All the staff there is professional and nice I always see them taking their time with patients, listening and carefully doing their exercises with them. Comfortable, always clean..
As a medical care provider myself, I can say this: Dr. Rashbaum and his staff provide the best general medical care in the city. The physical provided is thorough, not rushed and takes about an hour. Most practitioners only see you for 5-10 minutes, neglecting many parts of the exam and missing subtle clues that may have big implications. Healthcare isn't inexpensive - and insurance outright sucks and reimburses doctors 30% of what is billed. This puts many doctors out of business and forces others to perform rushed exams. The annual fee helps a high-quality doctor such as Bruce to perform the best care possible. If you have issue with medical costs, complain to Congress and tell them to reign in insurance. CMA is by far the best medical practice in the city.
Great, quick and efficient experience. They presented me with all vaccine options / suggestions for my travel destination (Vietnam), let me decide with no pressure, quick shots and I was done. Worth it instead of trying to do at my local pharmacy. Easy online scheduling also.
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Rashbaum and Capital Medical Associates. I have been a patient for 15 years, and at every appointment I am always reminded how caring and thorough Dr. Rashbaum and his staff truly are. You could not be in better hands!!

Tom S. - Washington, DC
They are slightly over priced for some of the Vaccines. But what I had a problem with is the following up. So after getting 5 vaccinations at the same time and spending $1000.00 bucks . I could not get a call back ! I called back 3 times asking for a call back each time they said they would definitely call me back by the end of the day. The last time I called back they said I would have to wait til Monday.
All I wanted was to get possible side effects. Had to look them up myself on the internet!
I MY VIEW THEIR CUSTOMERS SERVICE SUCKS !
Very convenient that there is a pharmacy in the health center. After my appointment, I can walk right across the hall and get whatever I need. The service here is great. There are a lot of resources, such as the optic care and psychological services. Some of the primary care physicians lack bedside manners, however, and it makes me uncomfortable sometimes.
When Dr Hodge was there this place was great. Once he left, I NEVER received a call, email or traditional mail notification from either Mary Beth Alder or Bruce Rashnaum until today. Their first and only letter of communication stated they are terminating our relationship due to lack of response (they never called or reached out) I would call the office but I don’t really get good vibes from them. If you are looking for a provider with great communication skills they wouldn’t be my first choice. Really hate Dr Hodge is gone but I can understand why now
I had a great experience here! The nurse spent a lot of time with me going over details about several countries I'll be traveling to and explained medical information to me very clearly. He outlined my options for medications and other preventative actions I should take to stay healthy while traveling.
Mary Beth is both incredibly knowledgeable, and very helpful. She's a great provider, and is very focused on making sure people get the care that's right for them.
Absolutely horrible. Appointment will be at 4 and your show up at 355 and they won't get you til at least ten minutes after your appointment. I asked not to be with an intern because I'm not the type to go to counseling and guess what. They put me with an intern. So unprofessional. Hhmmm I wonder why nobody goes to cdale.
Unless you want to pay $2000 for a physical I wouldn't event look at this place. They are all about money and not providing care. Oh and there os a $250 fee just to be seen.
Positives: everyone I've encountered there has been respectful and sincere. It really seems like they want to help me. However, I have been plagued with numerous physical and mental health problems since I enrolled in 2015. Within the first month of my first semester, I visited them with significant pain in my left hip. Almost three months, I was instructed to come in once a week...the doctor, student observers, and a specialist would push and swivel my leg around until I was audibly weeping. They would also do x-rays every week. All this time they felt it was a ligament issue, even having me go to physical therapy every two weeks. Finally, they sent me to get an MRI...it was a fractured hip. I was on crutches for 10 months, which also caused damage to my sternum. The mental health services...NOT a fit for me. It felt that the program was preoccupied with pushing DBT, some sort of safe space group therapy session that met once a week (on top of meeting individually with a counselor on a weekly to biweekly basis as well). In the therapy, we were discouraged from talking about our specific issues...for fear of triggering other members. I apparently was too eager to participate and I was told by my counselor in a private session to speak up less, to not make the others feel pressured. It seemed like we spent less time talking about my dangerously (at the time) unstable mental health and more on filling out time sheetsamd what I thought of DBT. Also, they in a round about way threatened to discontinue my psychiatric services for one year..or other times it was the rest of that semester..or other times I would just lose my counselor, if I accumulated more than two absences in a row to any of these appointments. I encourage anyone to seek their services if you are feeling unwell but don't let them make you feel like there aren't other options or avenues.
Capital Medical Associates is a wonderful practice. Dr. Rashbaum and Mary Beth Alder are both excellent diagnosticians. They take their time and truly listen to you. The exams are the most thorough I have ever had. The staff are also kind and getting an appointment is stress free. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a great, caring doctors and staff
Dr. Rashbaum is thorough, well informed, and persistent. I have been a patient for over 10 years and whenever I have had a problem or medical issue he has consistently been able to address it and solve it! He takes the time to know you as a patient and listens carefully. He is genuine in his approach. That is hard to find and greatly appreciated!
My daughter was traveling to Ghana and we were informed that there was a national shortage of Yellow Fever vaccine, but advised to call Capitol Travel. I thought it would be simple give me a shot appointment but Tanya was very through to go over everything and all vaccines that my daughter would need. My daughter is also a needlephobic but Tanya was able to calm her down and distract her as to it was not even an issue. Recommend highly!!

I love my primary doctor and I love how easy it is to sign up for medical appointments. I feel as if I got really lucky with her, as she is the only person working there that isn't exceptionally rude or patronizing. I've had run ins with other doctors, nurses, receptionists, and pharmacists. I've been a patient here for three years and It wasn't until today that I decided to give a review.

I'm a psychology student and I want to the psychology department on the second floor and was met by a receptionist who was anything but friendly. My girlfriend and I have an assignment for one of our psych courses that encourages us to attend a few counseling sessions and write about our experiences. We decided this would be a good push for us to finally attend couples counseling like we've been talking about for months. Based on my experience, I also planned on signing up for personal counseling. I told the receptionists this, and she responded "No, no, no, no, no. You need to go to the library for that." I asked her if there was a counseling center in the library, and she told me "No, you need to read a book."

I argued with her for a few minutes and eventually she took down my name and number and said she'd talk to someone about it. I doubt she'll call, but if she does I don't think I'll go. I don't know what kind of counseling center represents itself with someone like that, but they need to rethink it. I know you shouldn't generalize an entire place on one bad expirience, but the first face you see when seeking help shouldn't be one that'll judge you. I can't imagine someone walking into that department looking for help with mental health and finding judgement. Everyone has a bad day, but you need to compose yourself in that setting.
Going to China again, decided it was about time to get some vaccinations instead of winging it. Called my primary care physician, but they don't keep common travel vaccines in stock, and my insurance wouldn't cover them anyway, and they wouldn't be able to get me an appointment before my trip in any case. So I found this place in Clarendon/Ballston on google, and called them up. I got a quick thumbnail description of the vaccinations I might need, and a ballpark price from the receptionist. Seemed reasonably priced, so I booked an appointment the NEXT DAY! How often does THAT happen in the medical world? Tanya was informative and knowledgeable. She zeroed in quickly on what I would need and got me fixed up in about 40 minutes. Highly recommended, will use again!
This is the best travel clinic. I was amazed at how detailed my appointment was and it was worth every penny. They are the best priced by far in the DC area and very upfront about costs. I called with a question a few weeks after my appointment and the front desk said the NP would call since they didn't know. In less than 4 minutes, the NP called to make sure all my questions were answered. They are so attentive. I can't say enough good things about this place.
This is a valuable and thoroughly executed service. Little did I know how much I could learn before setting off across the world. I felt very well prepared to be safe from disease AND discomfort!
Really good practice filled with nice people. I work for an international development company and many of my co-workers recommended this place. I got an appointment for the next day. The nurse practitioner had my travel reports ready and wrote me prescriptions for two different malaria medications just in case my insurance didn't cover one. I'll definitely be back for all my needs. Only bad thing is that the location is a bit confusing to find at ifrst.
