great sailing experience for first timers and those with a lot of sailing experience! The captains are amazing they let you helm the boat, give a great tour of everything around the bay, ocean, and often find interesting sea lions, dolphins, birds and other sea life! sail more!
Great place to go and have a great ambiance and quality food.

Incredible sunset sail with Sail San Diego! Would highly recommend for a couple or family. We sailed with our two kids, 15 & 12 and they loved it!
Best waitress ever, very attentive & pleasant & discrete. Gorgeous atmosphere, stunning views inside & out. Posh settings.

Skipper Chris is the best and made our sunlight sail absolutely fabulous! The entire experience working with Sail Sand Diego was a treat and the highlight of our vacation to the area!!
The Boston Harbor Sailing Club is perhaps the best kept secret among local sailors. I've been a member for 5+ years and we have had amazing experiences and made lifetime memories for me and my family. For the last 4 years or so we've had a Cal-39 Platinum membership at a cost that is thousands of dollars less than other clubs, with more sailing time and MUCH more options for places to sail to. With 1 Cal-39 in Westport (among several other smaller boats down there) we get access to some of the best cruising grounds on the east coast. I'm not aware of any other club that gets you sailing in Boston Harbor & Buzzards Bay, and this is a huge advantage.

We've sailed that boat to Cuttyhunk, Newport, Block Island and Montauk. We've sailed the boats out of Boston to Provincetown, Marblehead, Newburyport and done countless day trips to the harbor islands here in Boston. My kids started their sailing careers at ages 10 and 8 and now can't wait for summer so we can get out on the water. Cutty is our favorite & only a few hours sail from Westport. We'd inflate the dinghy, attach the outboard, load up the kids, a cooler and our dog, find a secluded patch of beach and make a day of it. Or we'd swim off the boat at anchor. Or we'd do the same thing in Block. All the pics, all the videos, all the memories are things we'll always have.

If you're wondering why the membership is cheaper, it's because the boats are older & show their age. Mechanically, they're kept up in top-notch condition but cosmetically they're not quite as clean as other clubs. For my money, though, I'd take a hit on cosmetics, save a few bucks and get access to all of the great locations that Buzzards Bay gives you. To be clear, all the mechanics, the rigging, the systems are maintained very well and after 100's and 100's of miles of sailing I've never had a problem.

If you're new to sailing they have memberships for smaller day sailing boats and plenty of courses to help you learn the ropes. Either way, I highly recommend you check out Boston Harbor Sailing Club if you're looking to get out on the water this summer!

Our sail took us out of the harbor into the Pacific Ocean for some awesome sailing. The sailboat was perfect in every way and our captain was young, but super experienced. If you are up for it, they will let you take the wheel.
Extraordinarily welcoming and fun club! Great place for families, from the top notch junior sailing program, to holiday events and parties, to the boat share program. Love that the mix of people is a variety of ages and backgrounds, and that all are welcome, including seasoned sailors as well as those starting out.

Went for the sunset sail with Happy Captain Greg, and it was fantastic. Smooth sailing, beer and snacks included, and Greg’s knowledge plus dry sense of humor made for a super fun trip. Would definitely recommend, and we will probably go again!

I highly recommend this company and Happy Captain Greg (you can request him)! I've been out on a sail twice now, one public and one private. Both experiences were truly so wonderful. You learn a lot, get to see a lot of the bay, coast, and wildlife, listen to some great music, and it's all around a really awesome time. You may even get to sail the boat yourself for a bit (with help of course). Snacks and drinks are always available on the boat. The seats are cushioned and very comfortable - there's usually a giant bean bag at the front of the boat as well. Will keep coming back with more friends and family for sure!

We had an amazing time. Enjoyable ride. Great captain with a positive attitude who you'd think doubled as an entertainer. We were a party of 6 who went on a private ride. We were able to choose which are we sailed in. There were seltzers, beers, and small snacks on board. Encourage you to bring some of your own too - it is allowed and fun. He played great music. It was an amazing experience I would highly recommend!

The city actually continues to take care of this lake, unlike Brandt. Although last time I went fishing this lake was down over 3 feet. Still can't figure out why they do this, to Brandt also. Really messes up the fishing
Attended a work event and location, service and views were spectacular. Would love to visit again and use amenities- absolutely gorgeous 🌴☀️

We had THE MOST fantastic experience on our private sunset sail. We booked for our anniversary and we were met at the check-in desk with an anniversary card signed by the employees at Sail San Diego. Our captain was AWESOME - so friendly and knowledgeable. I HIGHLY recommend booking a sail with this company! You won’t regret it!

New members welcome, boat share program for those who don't own their own sailboat, racing on Wednesday nights for those who want that. Kids program in the summer. Those new to sailing and those who never sailed before but want to learn are welcome. Great environment, friendly and active membership, good location on the bay, nice clubhouse with bar and kitchen.
This sailing club doesn't get no respect, no respect at all
I've always wanted to go to City Island, a far-flung neighborhood of the Bronx that's a schlep from most parts of the rest of the city, especially if you rely on public transport. But we had the opportunity to drive there, and decided to go to CIYC for dinner. The staff were wonderful and welcoming from the moment we called to make a reservation. One wasn't needed, it turned out, but in booking it, we did secure a table with beautiful views of Pelham Bay, and the city on the horizon. The food was wonderful, and we're happy we ordered the new Mac & Cheese recipe the chef tried. We even learned a little about the local life from our server who was a proud "clam digger". The restaurant is open to the public, attire is casual, and parking is available.
Excellent food, great service, and a beautiful view. What a wonderful find that’s so close and yet feels so far from the city.

Super beautiful lake. This marina is a little bit unknown, but you must visit, there are kayaks and fish boats that you can rent and they have fair price.
This is where you want to be. It's more like family!

The Miami Yacht Club is a remarkable private boating and sailing club nestled in Miami, steeped in a rich history that adds to its allure. With a history dating back decades, the club has maintained its prestigious reputation as a hub for boating and sailing enthusiasts.

At the helm of this institution is Manager Jeffrey, whose exceptional rapport with members has cemented his role as a pillar of the club. His dedication to fostering a close-knit community is evident in the genuine relationships he shares with all members.

The club's food and drink program is a testament to old Florida tradition, offering a culinary experience that pays homage to its roots. The kitchen staff, predominantly Bahamian, infuses their cultural influence into the menu, creating a unique fusion of flavors that delights the palate.

Marcel, a standout server at the club, brings an infectious, carnival-like personality to the table, elevating the dining experience and leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.

Beyond its dining excellence, the Miami Yacht Club also caters to families, boasting a kids' sailing program that ensures the love for sailing is passed down to younger generations. The club's commitment to the sport extends even further, as it proudly hosts the US Olympic sailing team for training sessions.

The heartwarming aspect of the Miami Yacht Club lies in its ability to forge enduring connections across generations. Families who have been part of the club for years, even decades, create a sense of tradition and belonging that adds immeasurable value to the club's legacy.

In conclusion, the Miami Yacht Club is more than just a boating and sailing club; it's a time-honored institution that weaves together history, camaraderie, culinary excellence, and the joy of sailing. With its dedicated staff, passionate members, and a vibrant atmosphere, the club continues to be a treasured haven for those seeking an authentic Miami experience.
I don't think "unfriendly" would be accurate, but certainly inhospitable to transients. Called to ask about dinghy dock usage: "no, we don't really do that". Asked about transient mooring: "Well, thunderstorms are forecast, and we have sailing school going on." Seriously????
I parked on premises for $20 all day. It is a family venue where you can spend a birthday, order food, be in a safe place with stunning city views away from the huddle and bussle! Beautiful afternoon spend with family and friends! The people that work there are friendly and a pleasure!

Moved to town few weeks ago, called the place, spoke with Male, he sounded like the manager, attempted to ask questions about membership and hours. All I was told is no no and no then I was hung up on. I heard about how unprofessional staff are and this call confirmed it.
Great people, reasonable cost, knowledgeable staff and great locations along the Hudson made this a great experience!
Great place to have a graduation party! Comfortable breezy atmosphere, nice staff and excellent bartenders...not to mention, an awesome pool.
CIYC is a welcoming, self-functioning marina for boaters.
The members are friendly, helpful and have great camaraderie. The view of Eastchester Bay from the porch is exceptional. The sponsor races, teach ASA approved sailboat operation for children and adults. CIYC located in the Bronx and the island and Orchard Beach offer a full day's worth of great attractions, shopping and fine dining.
A neighborhood gem that I hope to visit again. I went for , 'street art regada' , a boating event in which kids sailed in small boats with sails painted by local artists. I didn't get a chance to check out the restaurant but it looks very nice and I hope to return to check it out. I enjoyed the views of the water , the docked yachts and waterside homes. Valet parking seems the best parking option if you are a visitor.

Feels like home. Great people, well located and well connected to local tradesmen for those little things that need attention on your journey.
I have sailed with SEAS Westchester for the past two years. They offer group sailing outings and sailing classes. After you learn how to sail, you can sign up for the outings. The outings are typically 2 or 3 hours, which is a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening. It's a friendly, social group that I really enjoy sailing with. They have a fleet of small boats (Sunfish) and one 28-foot keelboat. All of their instructors and skippers are volunteers, so the cost is very low.
The staff at the yacht club were exceptional, providing excellent service throughout our visit. The food was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. Many fond memories were created here for me and my siblings, as we spent time learning to sail at the club during our childhood.
I was there for Christmas party and the food was really fine. Well presented and tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The desserts were nothing special but okay. I certainly go back. The bartenders were friendly and most helpful and poured a fine drink!
Mirimar Yahch Club is Absolutely Wonderful!!! My family and I had stopped twice in NYC while transiting to Florida and even being from NY state ourselves were astonished at how rude and unwelcoming the big apple had been. That was until we came here to the Mirimar Yacht Club. The members of this club are phenomenal people, more then welcoming and hospitable, great facilities and definitely can not argue the finest prices in NYC. Josh, Dave, Carlos and every other member have made Mirimar a must visit for my family whenever we make it to NYC and we recommend that you and your family do the same. Thank you to the entire club for such a great experience. Fair winds to you all!!!

This is the friendliest and most down to earth yacht club on the East Coast. If you own a sailboat or want to learn how to sail, or just looking for an awesome people to hang out with on the weekends this is the club to join! Very affordable, great facilities, the most protected mooring field, races every week, get togethers every weekend, parties every holiday... And very friendly towards transient boater who need a mooring for some time while visiting Brooklyn. No reciprocity required to rent a ball!
My oldest, now 24, went to Croton Sailing School camp for a few weeks, every summer, when he was in grade/middle school. He was on the sailing team in college. CSS is where he learned not only to sail, but where he developed a love and appreciation for it. My youngest turned 14 this spring. This summer he took private sailing lessons (full days) for two days, and can’t wait to do another. It’s a beautiful spot replete with sail boats that also boasts a walking/biking trail, and a park. I think joining the boat club is the next step.
Great spot for biking, relaxing, watching sailboats and planes at national airport. Convenient spot to bike ride - free, plentiful parking, right next to bike trail and snack bar for post ride beverages and food. Free refills on the ice tea.

I had no interactions with the staff on my visit, so can't speak to any customer service issues. However, the docks at this facility need to be updated and rebuilt. Everything is past due for some maintenance dollars.
But like itself is beautiful and there's tons of wildlife.
I had a great time kayaking this lake. It was my first trip to this reservoir. The water got pretty rough due to the wind, but it made for a fun and challenging trip. I hope to visit on a calmer day to explore more of it.
Overall a great and well maintained club. There is a great bubbling community that frequently comes to the club, and you'll commonly find people gathering in parties but sharing everything together. Facility wise, it's great, a 2 story club house with a ball room, living room, kitchen, bar, and locker rooms/showers/bathrooms; private parking lot, fish cleaning deck, two fire pits, lots of lounge chairs, a cozy gazebo overlooking the water, a playground, etc.
City Island Yacht Club is our favorite place to spend time from May to October (during the sailing season). We moved our boat here a few years ago and can't imagine sailing out of any other club. The convenience factor, incredible community of friends and affordability is hard to beat. Nothing better than enjoying sunset and a meal with friends either on your boat or on the club porch, overlooking Manhattan -- it never gets old.

Low key old-school Miami gem. The ahi tuna was fantastic You gotta be a member to buy booze so make sure you find someone at the bar and buy them a drink first thing so they can sponsor you. Yacht optional.
Great spot to relax, have a picnic, and watch planes taking off from DCA. Been here a few times now and it's never really crowded...hidden gem.
Very nice yacht club, the location is ideally suited for mooring off vessels, with a hauling area, floating style docks, launch service to ferry vessel owners to and from their moored off vessels, restaurant and bar facilities and also young masters training school for young kids to acquire the skill and art of sailing.
We came to watch the planes and fish... we caught a catfish and white perch
Daingerfield Island is a city park area along the Potomac River. View of our Capitol Building, airplanes arriving and departing from Ronald Reagan Airport. Shaded areas with picnic tables. Area includes a boat shop for a variety of nautical items, snacks & beverages. A small community marina available for small sailboats and moderate sized boats.
So beautiful, clean and nice to seat and watched the view. Free parking, Boats for rent . There is restaurant but you can bring your own foods or snacks or fast foods and baverage. Causation for kids.
Great place to admire the water, the bugs were fierce though. Next time I'll remember to put bug spray on!!

All the fun of sailing without the hassle of boat ownership. Croton Sailing School is a great place to learn to sail and membership gives you access to their fleet of boats. Steve and the crew are very knowledgeable and helpful, accommodating sailors of all skill levels. For your non-sailing family members, the location provides a nice park and scenic views of the Hudson.
Launched for the first time yesterday and wow what a piece of water. Not full of party boaters. Great fishing and a very nice boat ramp. I think this is my new favorite place.
$10 launch fee is very reasonable.
Beautiful lake surrounded by tree lined shores and a golf course.
Great for small boat sailing and kayaking.
Great lessons and careful of maintaining health and safety. They provide a great experience and I can’t wait to return!

Great club. Reasonably priced slips. Friendly, helpful sailor members - many with decades of experience. If you don't own a boat you can join the club as a non-boat-owner, which is very cheap, and in addition to having access to all the social events and facilities, club members are always happy to teach as well as take others out for sails. An oasis in Sheepshead Bay, nay - an oasis in New York City.
A very nice plsce to take a date to with a very nice setting just be in and enjoy the beautiful and blissful embrace. The sights and great food, and people make it one of the best places to visit and spend a libit of quality free time... I can not wait to go back again!
Nice view. Good place to walk.

Such a relaxing spot. Tasty food with excellent service from Miguel Angel. Will be returning soon.
I just finished the ASA 101 basic sailing course at Croton Sailing School, and it was an awesome experience! Our instructor Jeff was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and patient. Everyone we spoke to on the staff was professional and easy to work with.
Received a 3 hour private sailing lesson for two as a birthday gift. My daughter and I took the class together. Everyone at the Croton Sailing School was great. Our instructor was Jeffrey and he was amazing. It was a great intro to sailing at a great price and fantastic location.
I had such a great experience at Croton Sailing School. My instructor, Jefferey, clearly had a passion for sailing and also happened to be a GREAT teacher. I did the three day learn to sail program and also paid for the ASA certification so that I can take my knowledge with me when I want to charter larger boats elsewhere, especially on vacation. All-in, I can't believe how cheap the course was considering it's in Westchester where everything is so expensive.

Here are a few tips:
1. Sunscreen!! I wore a normal amount of sunscreen and it wasn't enough. Because you typically shift to the windward side of the boat (see, sailing words that I learned :) whenever you tack or jibe (again, the lingo), you end up having the sun bake the same area all day long. Definitely reapply at lunch time.

2. Water. For the same reason as #1, you will drink so much water and it won't be enough. Make sure you bring a nalgene with you on the boat.

3. Have fun! This is just such a fun thing to do, try not to get too caught up in it.
It was my first time ever sailing when I took the beginner’s course at Croton. It was a great experience, not only did I learn a lot I also had a lot of fun. After the two day course I took and passed my first ASA Certification. I will be returning for more classes and take more advanced Certifications.

A very friendly club and sailing community! A fantastic place to learn to sail and meet people who love being out on the water!!! Non-boat owners are welcomed, which is not common in other clubs in NYC. Access to indoor and outdoor space to enjoy year-round. I would recommend joining without hesitation.
Excellent management staff. Most convenient location.
Phenomenal, anyone can experience sailboat racing at this club. All age groups and levels of experience. ASA school on the premises as well. #nycsailing

Good winds and open waters to sail to where you like. The club has many activities and events. Sailboat racing several times every week. Club cruises to other harbor throughout the season. Along with many holiday events which include barbecuing or buffet. The camaraderie is good! Members sail with each other and celebrate afterward. You don't need a boat to join. You can sail on other members' boats. Many boat owners are always looking for crew to take sailing or racing. It is enjoyable and fun.
I took a course here and have been out on a variety of their boats the past 2 years. My instructors, Vern and Matt, were both very informative, complete in their instruction, and had the knowledge base to answer any questions about sailing. The boats are in good condition and Mark was helpful and always prompt with any questions I had about the club or boat reservations.. I would highly recommend BHSC!
At about one thousand dollars cheaper than comparable memberships in the harbor, it's hard to beat the value of a membership here for the mid- to large-boat memberships. Notably unlike other sailing clubs in the harbor is that you can take a boat out for unlimited amounts of time (within reason and the owner, Mark, is the arbiter of reason here), so if you want to take a 1 week sailing trip you can. Other places I looked restricted rentals to 3 or 5 days, or you pay per day over the membership limit.

Additionally, the classes taught here are very good. Vernon is a great teacher and the picturesque sailor. The day sailing class is a great option for someone looking to start ocean sailing and cruising.

Like the other reviews mention, the boats are not in the best condition and they don't seem to do anything about it. Most of the Pearson 26's smell a little funky when you first step inside, but opening the hatches clears the air quickly and I haven't had a problem spending many nights on these boats.
Had a great daysailing course with BHSC! Just myself and one other student with an instructor all day. Learned a lot, did everything on the boat with no classroom instruction, which in my view is a plus. They mail you a textbook to go over prior to the course which is a good idea. Boats I used were sufficient but not flashy. One month's membership included with lessons is a good deal. I had Vern and Dwayne both of whom were a lot of fun and very good.
I have been a member here for 3 years and have no complaints. The value is excellent. The boats are seaworthy. But if you need a spiffy new boat to impress someone, instead of one to sail on... The boats are older but maintained, and as club boats they get used a lot.

I have sailed ALL the types of boats there, from the Sonar, Solings, Boston 27s, Albin 28s and Scampi, J 29s, Pearson 26s, 31s, 34 and 36s and the Cal 33s and 39s. The motors start, the sails raise, and you're supposed to have a chart to navigate anyway, even if the boat has a GPS.

'I have never taken a lesson from Vern but find him very personable. Eric does most of the maintenance and is excellent. I have no complaints.
Celebrating 20 years with Boston Harbor Sailing Club with a membership that has grown as I have grown…
