Overpriced & condescending. Really wish there was another option for musician’s equipment in Keene.
Very knowledgeable and kind. Small business worthy of your attention and commerce.

Great service and great personnel!
Joe, the owner has been such a loyal supporter of all musicians in the valley and his right hand man. Kevin, the store manager has been nothing short of fabulous!
If you're going to spend your money on equipment or repairs or tune-ups want to keep your dollars in the valley- Glenwood music is my choice!
Stopped by on a Sat during business hours, went out of my way to come here, closed without explanation, very disapointing.
Seems like a nice place. Friendly people but appear to be retiring and shutting down. Sad to see another local music store go.

It's a nice store with personable people. Cool retro amps, new and old guitars. Not sure if they have any luthier services. I would not recommend them for that other than string changes. If you are starting out, or know what you want, stop by and see if you can get a deal.
Fell in love with the view/aesthetics and the little instruments themselves. 😍 Tinier than a guitar and easier to play. Unfortunately I didn’t get to buy one because it wouldn’t have fitted into my suitcase on my flight back. Otherwise I would have. I definitely recommend whether you’re a music lover or not. The shop alone will get you in a good mood as soon as you walked in. 🌺 Besides, the person selling them is very nice and helpful. He made the experience especial as well.

It was awesome. I went looking for a bass guitar, found one I liked, and found the bass amp at a reasonable price that I had been looking at for a while. so I got both. It's a great place to shop and get your gear tuned up. Very knowledgeable staff.

Moog had something really special in Asheville, and Asheville in Moog. Now just another sellout company, with Taiwanese production… Think of your fellow musicians and check in on your values before supporting this new business model.

Honestly I should have sued or stopped payment of the check..
Their main goal seems to be to extract the most money from poor musicians.
No mercy.
Just fill their coffers.
When they sell to you it cost TOP dollar.
When you sell to them.. You getting ripped off.
And hope you don't get insulted along with it.
[ New edit].
I just looked at the "repair"
That I was charged 150 for, after being quoted 40 and 80, I really don't know how the repair man could have checked his work when the strings were basically sitting on the pickups.

Obviously any remote semblance of setting the guitar to a playing state, wasn't included in the overcharge of 150.

I don't know how the repairman, in good conscience, could send the guitar out of the door, in this state and call it done.
No matter the charge.

[Ok this is an update/edit]
I played it further and..I just like higher action I guess.... And was low action with light strings.. : not my thing at all

I may further edit/revise.. Later.

Best music store there is! The staff is super friendly and helpful, there is an abundance of instruments to chose from and some practice rooms with sheet music and books to learn from. Spent a couple hours here (with a staff member popping in to give me tips!) and felt so welcomed, will definitely visit again!

I've been coming here for eight years and will continue to use them for all of my music and music tech needs forever!

All of the staff is kind and knowledgeable.
I've had guitars and speakers repaired here, purchased a sound system and lighting with their expert guidance, and found all kinds of odds and ends that I've needed in a pinch.

I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Great tour of the factory. Very informative about the history of the Moog theremin, Modular system, MiniMoog, etc.

It’s been a desire of mine to own one for years now, so I bought a Subsequent 37.

Scott is a master of his craft , he’s done excellent work on my guitars!
A few months ago, I purchased my concert ukulele at this store, and I’ve been very happy with it. When I bought the ukulele, I was waited on by the owner Jerry. He helped me . He taught me some things that I needed to know to take care of it .. I was very pleased. I went back in today to pick up a few things. I wanted to get a strap and I wanted to put on some different strings and a few other small items. Jerry, the owner took the ukulele and my husband and I to the back and showed us how to string the ukulele. He was very patient and cheerful. When I checked out the price it was probably $20 less than I thought it would be. His prices are very low. In fact, I think they’re too low in some cases. If you compare some things online, for example my strings, the same exact new set of strings were two dollars cheaper at Music City. I expected to pay more and I was OK with it because I know he has expenses. I always try to support our local businesses. I’m so glad the store is so close to me that I can go over and get my questions answered and buy my supplies. You’re not helping your community by buying online. Support local business.
Fixed my old Fender amplifier. It never sounded better! Repaired a broken tuning key and adjusted my Takamine acoustic guitar. New strings, too. It looks great and plays silky smooth. Friendly, knowledgeable and easy on the budget! Great service!

Prompt response from Jeff via email, friendly knowledgeable staff, picked up a gorgeous Cherry SG Special there, great price, great guitar! I'll be going back to buy a 50's Les Paul from them when I'm ready!
My daughter took lessons from Kevin and I currently am doing lessons. Highly recommend. The in person feedback far exceeds what you could possibly receive from online lessons.

I recently finished a semester of taking voice lessons at this school. I had a great experience with one of their teachers, and I'd like to address an earlier review from Lily:

"...but when my work schedule became more intense and I couldn't make my lessons, Cary School of Music charged me anyway. They will not refund the money and will continue taking drafts out of my account until the end of the semester. That means over $500 in charges for no lessons at all. This school is not understanding that things come up in life..."

I completely disagree with this review! Note that the school's policy of requiring students to commit to their set time schedule of lessons *in advance* was communicated clearly up front. You do not have to sign their agreement and provide bank details if you don't like that policy and can't see yourself committing to it steadfastly. This is a fair policy that respects the teacher's time commitment. Teachers are not automatons, like vending machines dispensing a product. They are human beings with a skillset that is in demand by many in the community. They commit to the same exact schedule that the student commits to - in advance. If the student can't make their slot(s), the teacher would not be paid if the student expected a refund for their missed lesson. That is simply not fair and, furthermore, the teacher *could* have had a different, more reliable student agree to that same time slot up front, which would have guaranteed that teacher the set income that they have an expectation to rely upon, as any skilled professional would for their valuable time. Furthermore, the school itself has upkeep/admin costs and have a right to expect that the slots of time for the use of their building and resources are paid for by all students, whether they can attend at the times they agreed to or not. When a student can't attend, that revenue would be lost unexpectedly if there were an expectation of a refund - and again, that revenue *could* have been guaranteed had a more reliable student committed to those same slots of time.

I highly recommend this music school and I completely endorse their payment policy, mainly for the sake of the teachers who are their most valuable resource.

I had a great experience selling my acoustic guitar here. Their rates for consignors is very generous and my guitar sold in less than 3 weeks! The staff were nice and helpful, highly recommend.

Super neat place to check out! Free tours that explain how the synthesizers came to life and how they work! Lots of different instruments to interact with and plenty of products to purchase. Everyone here was super friendly and took their time to explain a lot of the products with me. They gave me a few demos on a couple of the instruments as well! Overall an we had an amazing visit to the Moog Store! And highly recommend visiting if you are enthusiastic about electronic music.

Went in to show Scott my Jazzmaster. He played it and instantly adjusted the bridge (and did it pro bono) great spot to shop for unique, spec'd out guitars and look at historic pieces of Kalamazoo memorabilia
Great service. Did an amazing setup on my guitar for only $45 and had it back to me the next day. Would highly recommend.
I went in a few days ago and the girl working was wonderful. She was really friendly and knew a lot about the instruments. She ran over how they work how the basic fingerings are and such. She also told me about some models and how they differ from each other. Very impressed by her knowledge and I will most certainly be coming back to buy an intrument. Best 1st impression with Woodrow.

Scott has always treated me well. I've had multiple basses of mine worked on, always with quick turnaround time and fair labor rates. Setup jobs have always been to my liking and willing to do adjustments if need be. Has a decent selection of used instruments and amps as well!
This place is beautiful! Very small, and smells absolutely amazing. It's what initially drew me into the store, but how helpful and friendly Lauren was once we were inside really made it a great experience. The instruments are also absolutely beautiful, with incredible finishes, and I can't wait to start learning!!

All I can say is that I've been playing lots of instruments for lots of years and nothing has ever gotten its claws in me like my Moog. It's like some sort of witchcraft or something. It's so beautiful and angry and everything else. It's alive.
Took in my Peavey JSX amp for a fresh set of tubes and to fix a faulty ohm switch. Of course, Peavey doesn't make that switch anymore but Scott was able put one together and had me back in business in a couple days!

Fast friendly service and I will definitely be back!

I ordered a drum after experiencing one in an art gallery in Vermont. I was not disappointed. About a year after my purchase, one of the notes on my drum was losing resonance and I wasn't sure why - I sent the drum back for repairs after contacting Tim and he explained what the issue was (that I never would have guessed) and sent a replacement back free of charge. Really awesome customer service, really great product.

As a fun detail, I once had a young child play with this drum on their own and without prompting them at all, they exclaimed after the first few notes: "It's like God is humming!"

Great way to invite musical expression into a kids life.
Customer service was super helpful! I ordered a microphone power adapter from Camera Box and a very similar one from another company. Well I messed up and returned the wrong item to Camera Box but they were very accommodating and helped me get it sorted out. Very appreciative of the kind customer service.
Ms. Shentov!
She is an amazing music teacher that every kids will dream of.
She always staying positive and gives great feedback which makes kids more and more encouraged to do music.
Herself is a great musician and plays all the strings beautifully and she treat kids as they are like her. She is able to pull all the potentials from kids. For last 3 years, my kids improved tremendously.
My kids are so blessed to have her as Violin and Cello teacher!
Ms. Shentov, you are not just a good music teacher but a great mentor!
Cary School of Music has the best qualified teachers of any music school in the Triangle Area....the atmosphere is great for both CSM students and their family... young children advance rapidly in their skills due to the outstanding teachers at CSM...truly a five-star music school on any scale
Cary School of Music is wonderful! My children have been taking lessons at CSM for years and have had wonderful experiences with their teachers and staff. Over the years, they’ve taken piano, flute and violin lessons. Their teachers have all been highly skilled, well-trained at leading music institutions, and share a passion for teaching and music. The staff is friendly, flexible and accommodating. I highly recommend CSM.
I have nothing but positive things to say about this school!

The people that work there are equally passionate about music and children. I have seen members of this school, teachers and students alike, come together to use their talents to contribute to the local community through volunteer performances for local festivals, as well as at nursing homes. They put together choirs, string ensembles, bands and more. They really care about their community home.

My daughter is in her 3rd semester of piano lessons with her teacher, Colin M. She is 5 years old and can not read words yet, but she can already read music thanks to her lessons. And the biggest testimony to her music studies is that it is the highlight of her week. She adores her teacher and just lights up every Friday when lesson time comes around.

If you’re looking for a positive music experience for your children, look no further!

Scott is the best! He’s incredibly knowledgeable about all things vintage guitars. I feel like I learned more in 30 mins at his shop than I have on tours I’ve paid to take in Nashville. He’s also great at set up’s. I have an American Tele that has saddles at the bridge. I could never quite get the intonations right on all strings. He nailed it. My Tele has never sounded better. Highly recommend his shop!

Great company, best prices, excellent customer service!
This might be the shop worth crossing the country to see. I'll post some pictures of their work, but I warn you now, the pictures do not do the instruments justice. I'm not even a string player and yet they called out for me to caress them and pluck them and make them sing.

I don't usually write reviews but I have to say how blown away I am. These drums are so nice and the sound is unreal. Tim is an awsome guy with a good heart. It's so much more than great customers service. Tim is amazing with knowledge and personality . I am so thankful to have met him.
This music school offers much more than just high quality musical education. It fosters a rich community of supportive music students and teachers. Dr. Cano is a lover of the arts whose primary goals are to expand and give back to the modern world of music.

I am 18 years old and have been attending the music school since I was 5. Every year of my development as a violinist and as a person, I received care and education that I would not have been able to receive anywhere else.

Garyn is great with teaching children music lessons!
My some and I go here for guitar, piano, ukulele, and drum lessons. Kevin is a fantastic teacher. Also a great place to purchase instruments and for instrument repair and maintenance.
This music school has been around for over 30 years and is as strong as ever. Generation after generation attend this wonderful music school. The teachers are highly qualified and the staff is extremely professional.
My daughter had a wonderful wonderful experience at this school. She is a singer and today is majoring in music at the University Of Delaware.
I would highly recommend the school. There is no equivalent.
I have been going to this school for a very long time, and I have gone from someone who couldn't do anything but sing and randomly play an out of tune guitar with no idea what I was doing to singing and playing Green Day as well as Dodie (she is literally impossible on the ukulele, so that is a crazy thing to say) Chris Boerner is my guitar teacher, he plays in multiple bands and for artists. He is the best guitarist I have ever personally seen, even better than those at concerts. Michael (for some reason I'm blanking his last name right now) is my voice teacher. I have so much fun in his class and my singing has improved SO MUCH! I completely recommend this school!
My daughter has taken lessons at Crestwood Music for the past 6 years. Dr. Cano has taken great effort to guide her and suit her with the right teachers and classes to amplify her potential. I would recommend Crestwood Music confidently to others.
You won't find a better music school anywhere! My 3 kids have been taking lessons here for 10 years. The owner is a Julliard trained musician who cares deeply about his students and faculty. He takes care to match students with the right teacher and goes out of his way to ensure a positive and enjoyable environment for all. I have been repeatedly amazed by the quality of the musicians he hires, both for their professional accomplishments and teaching skill. We have also rented multiple instruments over the years and both the service and instrument quality have always been outstanding. HIghly recommend!
My children have been taking lessons at Crestwood Music Education Center since 2006! It has been an amazing educational experience for our family and it is wonderful to watch them grow as young musicians. The teaching faculty is exceptional and they are extremely dedicated to their students.
My son has been going to this school for eight years. He has have two teachers. One more classical, one more contemporary. Both were out standing teachers. The school is very good and helpful. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.
We have been trying to sell a violin and zither with no luck. However, the gentleman at Tremolo was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction. DO MAKE A NOTE, their location is not what the map directions said it was. I They moved 3 years ago to 1350 Portage St. rather than 2242 Portage. There were plenty of interesting instruments to check out. I'm glad we made the effort to find them.
I went into the Woodrow shop while on visit to Asheville. I fell in love with these instruments. Each one is a work of art. The gentleman in the shop (Dan that day) was very friendly and answered all my questions and listened to my feedback. Sadly, I was not able to make a purchase that day. I have since ordered and received my Old Timer. I love it and it has been so easy to learn to play. All the guys at the shop are great about answering questions either on line or in person. Every time I am in the area I make sure to go in and say hi to them.

Speaking from painful experience, regarding specifically strings lessons, do yourself a favor and keep looking elsewhere!! This is not the place for you, if you want your child to develop in any meaningful/timely way, I couldn't believe the difference we noticed for our daughter till she switched to another place. The amount of advancement she made in the brief time she has been with the new teacher compared to this place/teacher is day and night. I feel like we got cheated on the precious time to develop with our daughter (while young). When you have another teacher to compare to, is when you realize the string teacher a this place was literally wasting 5-15 minutes of your child's class time every single time with superfluous things (like filling out his notebook etc). The amount of solid, quality teaching we are getting now as opposed to the lackluster, at a snail pace she got from this place is remarkable COMPARE COMPARE COMPARE is all i can say, don't waste your child's valuable years at this place!
Took guitar lessons here with Kevin. He really helped a lot and uses technology to his advantage by emailing you lessons to practice with at home when you can't come in.

Just a really friendly place to be, they have an open stage on Friday nights, don't be afraid to climb the stairs up and check it out!
This place is so cool, and I love the way they teach.
Beware, Beware, Beware! I rented a violin for the school year for $130. I then renewed it a second year. I was shocked to see 4 months later I had been charged over $150! Obviously I believed there had to be a mistake. There sure was. When I signed the agreement the year before it said that the $130 was an introductory rate and subsequent payments were $39 monthly. It would have been nice for them to point that out as I renewed. They probably didn't because I wouldn't have. Not only that, when I disputed the charges, they stated the value of the violin at $660. I ended up having to keep the violin for 10 months paying about $400. Their racket charges more than half the value of the instrument in as little as 10 months! Ri-DICK-ulous! BEWARE!!!
I am part of a family that has to work more than one job to do the things I want in life. One of the things I wanted was to take piano lessons, but when my work schedule became more intense and I couldn't make my lessons, Cary School of Music charged me anyway. They will not refund the money and will continue taking drafts out of my account until the end of the semester. That means over $500 in charges for no lessons at all. This school is not understanding that things come up in life. They operate in black and white and cannot see that life has more gray areas than not. I do not recommend this school unless you simply have money to burn.
