Literally best video game / card shop on the island. Friendliest and chillest staff ever, such a welcoming sense to the place and all around good vibe. Love the selection of video games and tcg cards as well. Very nice decorations all around the store and very nice organized displays, much care is taken in the store.

Best video game store in Rochester, MN! I’ve stopped in quite a few times over the course of a couple years and every time the workers have been friendly and knowledgeable. I recently took my PS3 in to get it jailbroken and everything works great. Definitely worth checking out.
Tons of retro games…that’s what I was there for…but nothing is priced. You have to bring the games you find to the counter to the kid who rings you up. He hardly told me the price per game…just gave me the total. Really weird system. I would have purchased more had I known what the prices were.
great experience every time. as a woman, i’ve had uncomfortable experiences in other card shops on the island - never at east end. great selection of games, great selection of cards. fair prices from what i’ve seen. the renovations they’ve done are awesome. the place is bright, open, welcoming. specifically there is one employee who goes above and beyond every single time i see them. i don’t know their name but today, 8/7/24, they were wearing a black “tcg player” shirt, a backwards hat and a black mask. thank you for your patience and attentiveness! and for helping me pick out my first commander deck! super knowledgeable from MTG to pokemon to one piece. between my two roommates and i, only great things to say!

Some of the best and quality trading cards and gaming collections around. Magic/pokemon/yugioh at fair market prices. Rare and hard to find games and systems with no price gouging and fair to market on them also. I’ve also traded in many things to them (both gaming and cards) with no headaches. Never felt I was taken advantage of. Would always recommend Jacob and the crew here to anyone looking to sell or buy.
Very cool place! The card guy was super cool, and they game dude was very informative. They didn't have the item I was looking for though, big sad. But for the service they provide, and the stockthey have... worth stopping by.
Really enjoyed my visit to this store. Owner was pleasant, knowledgeable and fun. Very good selection of paints, board games and dice. It was so great to see the game room filled with tables of people playing different systems and having a good time.
I came here to play the One Piece TCG on Sundays and was quickly welcomed by their staff and shown around the store. Not only do they have a great space to play card games at, but the other half of the store is all Gaming/Retro Gaming focused and full of everything you could want! I’m always greeted with a smile and happy to come back each week. They also offer great deals and promotional events through their social media that keeps me on my toes!

Not only is The Game Keep stocked with all things card and board games, but the staff and owner have a deep bank of knowledge. They’re also immensely friendly, exactly what you hope any business of any kind would treat their customers. I would pick up hobbies just to shop there. And they also host events! I’d give 6 stars if I could!
Came in to buy a GameCube for the nostalgia. First off, they had EVERYTHING I wanted to purchase. Secondly, the guy working was 10/10 the best at his job. He was super knowledgeable, and extremely nice. He helped me with a cord problem I was having as well. I would recommend this business to anyone, it’s hands down the best gaming store I’ve ever been to. I can’t say enough good things about the service I received, or the experience I had. Brilliant place. Brilliant people.
I believe I spoke with Jacob today and by far the best customer service I've ever had. Jacob was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and made the experience of visiting the store for the 1st time a memorable one. I live about 2 hours away but I'll definitely be back due to the great customer service and wide selection of items in stock.
Sold me a copy of Lunar Silver Star Harmony: Premium Edition (PSP) as CIB. However, I opened the box and it was not complete. The Premium edition has cards and a soundtrack disc. The soundtrack disc was missing.
I didn't mind paying the higher cost since I know they have operating expenses. However, it's unacceptable to be charged by a reputable business full price for a complete item that's not complete. Otherwise, decent store. I've only returned a game once so far (Tekken 2 for Playstation). It had a small crack.
Update: They read my review and reached out to me for a resolution we both could agree on. Increase from 3/5 to 4/5.

Rochester is so lucky to have this place, don't get to stop as often as I would like but when I do it's always a great time. Made a special trip a couple of weeks ago to specifically play in the arcade and had a blast. Give the arcade a try, the retro games selection is amazing, even had some light gun games I didn't know existed. Look forward to stopping again soon! You can bet I'll be bringing this place up at 2d-con in August.
This location is so nostalgic! Took my teen son to hang out and kill some time and we had a blast! Lots of two player games! I love the flat fee aspect over tokens or quarters! I could have let my son play games and I could have looked through all the games and gaming systems all day!
One register open while the line stretched back to dinnerware. I was just in line for over 30 minutes.The Manager needs to be in a register during busy periods, not just coming up for customer issues. People buying 40 pieces of clothing need a different line than those buying a few larger goods. Cross training employees to fill in shortages would be very helpful. I have 33 years of organizational management experience, they could easily do more in the new normal which is perpetually short staffed.

WAY OVERCHARGED ME FOR A GAME THAT IS ONLY WORTH $32. what a scam. They charged $71 for it and their excuse was it’s “more popular”.
Game Keep is a great place for anyone interested in board games, tabletop games, hobby supplies and everything in between. Knowledgeable staff, great selection, welcoming community and places to play creates the nearly perfect gaming environment. Can’t recommend this place more than I am now.
Absolutely fantastic shop that I cannot recommend enough for board games or tabletop gaming. Staff is friendly and happy to chat, and there are tons of games and minis to choose from. I adore it here and have been coming for years, and they will continue to receive my business for many years to come.

I've been coming to this amazing shop since 2018. It's a wonderful store, you can find all sorts of nerdy things (and communities) from board games, TTRPGs, dice, mini-figs, and more. The community really is fantastic, and I've made many, many friends at this little nerd shop!
I miss the old owners, I feel like I can trust the new owners about as far as I can throw them. I’ve been playing video games since 1986 and this is the biggest rip off of a video game store that I’ve ever seen in person, do yourself a huge favor and stay as far away from the shop as you possibly can

shopping here is an extremely loud and stressful experience. the store is very busy and there are usually children running around making a mess. large inventory but shelves are often cluttered and difficult to sort due to overcrowding. prices are a mixed bag. cashiers are painfully slow and the checkout line can be appalling. at least some employees are very friendly!

This is the best game shop in the area! Amazing prices and the staff is really friendly. I highly recommend this place for its “older” console game selection(wii/Xbox 360). It’s a wide selection with very reasonable prices for any console tho
Video game, Heaven is probably one of the best places that I have been to to be able to find retro game systems, retro games, game system accessories, accessories in general, and newer game systems/games as well. I was able to see games that I played back in the early 2000s in late 1990s. It brought back a lot of good memories especially memories when I played on PlayStation one at my father's apartment as a child.
Other than that, the staff was super friendly and willing to help and overall I had a wonderful time and I was ecstatic being able to see all of the wonderful things that I used to use and stuff that I never thought that I would be able to get again!
Also, they have plenty of other branches of the store throughout the seven cities, so if you cannot come to the specific branch, you may want to go to another one because you will not regret coming here or to any of the other branches.

Do not come here, after donating 5 bags of clothes to them, I went inside to purchase toys for my children & the staff was super rude! One of the employees called me son crazy (he is only 3 years old) my son did nothing but run to me. If you don’t like children do not sell toys I was in the store for less than 5 minutes total and was in line to buy the toy when this happened. A guy who claimed to be the manager made matters worse instead of talking to his employee and correcting her. I will not donate here again, plus the obvious smell of urine in the store is disgusting.

Was there yesterday to look for some fall sweaters etc. The whole place smelled like urine, especially back near the furniture. A good portion of the clothes were clearly very dirty as well. Disappointed as I've been here many times before and have never experienced this. The smell was so bad I couldn't stay for more than a few minutes.

I went to sell my console there one time with my friend they offered me $20 for a Xbox one s . I like the store the retro feel but I don't recommend selling your console there Xbox gave me $130 for it other than that the store is okay 👍
We went to capital games previously and after our most recent visit and having the person running the shop come late to open we came here. Let me tell you it was the best experience we have had at a game store!! Thank you all for the fair prices and the great and clean selection!!!!!
Great place buying & selling books, dvd's, toys and video games. A must for out of town visitors as well. Definitely stop in if your in the area.
I really loved this place. They have so many books , well organized and cheap price. They also have a lot of music and games.
Unbelievably clean and professional for an independent store. They even had a restroom, which was a kindness since we drove over an hour to get there. The pricing was current and dialed in for each individual game. We loved the imported toys and other swag. The movie playing while we were there reminded me of my years running a Hollywood Video store, when most of those now vintage games were new. Wonderful experience and we'll be back.
This place is a scam. Buyer be warned. Sold me a 32 dollar controller that didn't work out of the bag and wouldn't let me exchange it because it was more than 2 weeks before I could come back. This was a gift for my kids so we couldn't try it any sooner! The employee then had the balls to try to sell me another used controller and wouldn't take the defective one in trade. They put the burden of testing on the customer so I wasted 35 bucks after tax. This is why storefronts are dying. It's sad because i wanted to support local business... Shame on this establishment.
To be clear, I went here looking for records. Before they remodeled they had a decent amount of cheap records which were fun to sift through and occasionally you’d find a gem. Upon its re-opening I’ve found it more of a Forbidden Comics-sort of bookstore, heavy on the anime and plastic figurine toy selection. There are still a tiny amount of records but they’re tucked away downstairs, mostly in decrepit condition, and overpriced. If you’re looking for fantasy books and collectible plastic figures it’s still a good place for that.

I went here in such of paint. I don't remember whom I spoke to but both the man and woman were very helpful. They gave me a lot of insight to the paints available and how to mix. I purchased white black two shades of blue and fairy dust paint. Now the fairy dust paint did not work quite as well as I had hoped but thanks to the help I received I already knew it would effect my paint colors. They were very helpful in the conversations my hubby and I had. They suggested a practice run with the dragon and I rather had fun doing both projects. They wanted to see the outcome of my projects so I hope they see this review.
Huge location. Very organized with a large inventory. We found several excellent deals. A lambskin leather jacket for about $15 and a brand-name rolling computer bag that would normally cost hundreds of dollars for a mere $10. I'd been looking for one for months and hadn't found anything I wanted to afford. This suited me perfectly.

Amazing to see this Japanese branch thrift store over here in NYC. Great for all you fans out there with a library of English books (second floor), anime/manga/Japanese books/Used videogames/character models (first floor), and basement which has collection of American CDs. Whenever nearby at least come visit to support this store.
This old school, privately owned video game store is loaded with all kinds of games and accessories. I enjoy playing Blur on Xbox 360. They had the power box I needed.
games are more cheaper than gamestop my son told me there was an oculus quest for 200 dollars that was normally 400 dollars including the iphone 13 for 200. i recommend this to anyone who doesnt have enough money to buy games
Bookoff is my favorite store in all of New York City. They originally lured me in when I worked on 45th street with their $1.00 books and inexpensive DVDs. Yesterday I scored a Mel Brooks "History of the World Part I." You can't get some of these rare movies online on any streaming service. That's why I like DVDs since you don't have to rely on Internet service. Staff is also very friendly. 45th street in midtown is super convenient.
I got a copy of Rayman 2: The Great Escape on PlayStation here once. Kind of pricey but it's because it's a sought after game. It arguably would've probably been more expensive online or somewhere else.

Game n Trade on West El Camino closed for good and this is so much like it; yet somewhat different simultaneously. So this is a solid store to go to if you're in the area. Do yourself a favor and take a look.

What a neat place! I was in town for a conference and checked this place out. Tons of great games and vintage media! By far Machine Shed has some of the best selection for a wide assortment of media types. They also have such a cool setup with awesome displays and odes to the past. I didn’t have time to check out the arcade, but I’m sure it’s cool! The staff were very helpful and friendly and even showed me some neat things they had just gotten in. Shout out to the team for doing my GameBoy Color screen mod the day I stopped in! Be sure to give this place a visit when in Rochester!
I got a really cool Poster from here. Let me tell you. This place has a awesome vibe to it and I definitely plan on visiting more. If you haven't stopped by this store and you love Anime then what are you waiting for? There are so many things I want to get from this store. Retro heaven.
This might be my favorite book store in the city. Move over Strand… BookOff is coming for you. This place has an amazing selection of books at super readers prices. I found SO many books- and I didn’t even have time to look at all the movies and other media! Definitely recommend!!
Deceptively big, and extremely well organized! So many clothes, HomeGoods, and furniture to choose from. I was specifically looking for patio furniture and didn’t find what I needed but had a good time walking around and looking at all the inventory.

All items are bargained prices, categorized section by section in each row. There is an overwhelming amount to look at depending on what you are interested in- it might take some time to go through it all.

My visit here was nice the staff was also nice, they had a great assortment of a lot of gaming systems and consoles some were priced right and some a little high but perfect for the collector.
Overall the store is really nice and the layout is easy to navigate and find what your looking for and there are some great finds that I saw that would be perfect for my collection.

I found The Machine Shed by Googling fun things to do in Rochester. I brought my kids there and paid $10/person to play in the old school arcade. We had a blast and stayed for two hours. There is a big variety of games available, something for everyone! They also have a huge variety of old/classic video games in their store. My kids enjoyed looking around at everything in the store too. If we are ever in Rochester again we would definitely go again, and I recommend The Machine Shed to anyone looking for a fun and unique place to go in Rochester.
The WORST store not because of the merchandise but because of the horrible manager and cashier with an attitude. I tried to buy a lamp shade but the tag fell off en route to the cashier. I told cashier I would get the price tag which was on the floor. When I took it to her, she wagged her finger at me like I was switching tags. I walked out feeling insulted but decided to go back and speak to the manager. All other lamp shades in the store were 4.99 but she refused to sell it to me saying that it was store policy not to sell items without a price tag. I would understand IF it was a speciality item or an expensive item but knowing that all the lamp shades in the store are 4.99, the item still has to go back to the warehouse to be priced? Why is the manager there if she can’t make a decision based on rational thinking? Obviously she lacks the skills to be a manager anywhere. In addition, the cashier needs to learn some customer service skills, not surprised knowing lack of good management at this location.
Staff was friendly and helpful. I hadn't been to the store since early 2020 and coming in today everything looks great! I got some original Game Boy games which will be the beginning of my Game Boy collection. I got the games home and they're all working in my new (to me) Game Boy. Nice promos going on, saved me a little money too! Thank you! I hope it's not another couple years before I'm there again!
Absolutely amazing place to hang out or grab new table top gaming equipment. The customer service was amazing and the table room has plenty of room for multiple games and groups of people. Highly recommend for any dnd table top players and definitely a necessity for shiny click clacks.
Forever games outside looks like an office district it's not too distinct. Just go in and take a look as they have practically any old gaming system and games you would want. I liked that the gaming consoles were in cases and labeled alphabetically. Each console had its own display for consoles and games. We have purchased several PS3 games, Nintendo 3DS and DS cartridges that are in pristine and no visible scratches condition. Their prices on their games are a little high but you are paying for the pristine condition you don't typically get from a store like Game Stop.

The donation line is always long and slow. Wish people would unload faster especially when there's a line. Some employees are nice and some should stay home instead if going to work.
I haven't been here in a long time. I stopped by to find some books and so happy that I did. First of all, the employees there are so helpful and polite. I got lucky and found 2 books, one of which I was looking for. Hardcover books are $2.59, what a great deal!! This store is very well organized and even with a lot of stuff, it still looks spacious. It is a significant improvement from my last visit many years ago. They have lots of clothes, and they look clean from looking as I was walking passed them. I didn't shop for anything but books. They accept donations which are dropped off in the back of the building, and the drop off dates and time is posted outside the drop off area. They also take credit cards which is super convenient. I will start returning more often to look for books.

SO neat and organized inside. Great selection of all games - including retro, which is what we collect. Tons of specials - BOGO type deals. Prices are reasonable and about industry standard. Employee was very professional and checked on us several times. Parking will be street parking unless you’re lucky enough to get one of the spots in the lot behind the building, which is shared with several other businesses.
The best game store in the fair Oaks region and even in Sacramento as a whole. The remodel they have done in the past years has made more room for patrons, displays, cabinets and merchandise. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Always have had great prices and amazing retro games.
