I had the pleasure of visiting the park for the first time for a sunset kayaking tour. Park Ranger Olivia Vasquez was an exceptional host for this event. Before we set off, she introduced herself, provided pertinent information about the park, conducted a safety briefing, and explained the route we would be taking. During the paddle, she shared her knowledge about the wildlife we might encounter and made an effort to interact with everyone individually. I am eager to return and further explore the park and its surrounding waterways.

Thanks Olivia!
Park is beautiful. Lake is big and lots of fishing. Hiking and biking trails were fine. Golf course (not played) looked pretty nice. Everyone was nice.

Rooms are in need of a refresh. It’s a park hotel so expectations weren’t high. Shower controls didn’t work and hot water was off or full blast and very hot. Room was otherwise fine.
At one time this was a wonderful park and it's still a nice place to go. The staff is very nice. But it is going downhill due to lack of funding. I wish my taxes went to keeping up the State Parks and not to frivolous items. The restaurant used to be very good but now it's not open most of the time because there is no help. The cabins are falling apart. Golf course is good
Our final park and we became Ultimate Outsiders here. There's a lot to do, the main things are kayaking and hiking. I also recommend checking out the restaurant, as the food is excellent.
Excellent facility. Easy to access. Professional, Informative and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
I went and definitely got the "whites only" treatment. They would not rent us (minorities) guns after taking the class cause it "rained that day". Even though we just did they exact samething with the rental guns in the training class outside. No worries, I'm not in the habit of supporting racist anyway.
Best place to go shooting by far, superior quality people, AND range! Perfect price on everything from targets to brass. Everyone there was super nice and helpful. 10/10 will definitely be back for more!
This was our first visit, but definitely not the last. We absolutely loved our campsite with access to the lake. Some of the site are difficult to access for bigger rigs.... luckily we didn't have an issue.
Bathhouse was clean, and things were surprisingly quiet for new years eve.
We treated ourselves to the New Year's buffet at the park restaurant & it was good. Overall great experience!
I recently visited for the clay pigeon shooting and had a fantastic experience. The staff was knowledgeable and ensured a safe environment. The variety of shooting stations and challenging targets kept the activity engaging. Overall, it's a great place for both beginners and experienced shooters to enjoy a thrilling day outdoors. There is also a wide variety of stations to choose from.
Pretty unhappy with bull run shooting center right now. Called ahead and the phone message said they were open until 7:00 p.m. Drove there purchased tickets at 4:40 p.m., got our guns and walked down to the range where we were told they are closed. Why the eff did they sell us tickets then? Called the message again to be sure that it did indeed say they were open till 7:00 in the winter, on Friday. Aholes.
Great safe place to sight in and shoot. Helpful staff and nice facility in good shape. 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges.
The range itself is great with the price but the hospitality from the staffs need to be improved more. Recommend to treat all your customers respectfully and equally.
Great place for wobble, trap, and skeet. Reasonably priced. Great price for gun rentals, and you can purchase ammo.
Really fun shooting range with great service and friendly staff. Mike walked us through the basics in a patient and entertaining manner during the learn to shoot class. We also got some coupons for next time, including a free shotgun rental each which we used immediately after the lesson (but bought ammo). Our group of 5 was perfect to play one game of wobble after our lesson. Overall a fun time to spend an afternoon.
The premier outdoor shooting range in Central Indiana. No membership required.
We had a very nice campsite on the lake. Hiked and mostly relaxed because of the heat. A bad storm caused us to leave a few days early. The park has a beautiful golf course, several hiking trails, swimming pool, playground, cabins, restaurant and more. Lake is big and beautiful.
Beautiful views! We hooked up our RV to 30A source and we’re able to start the AC compressor. Sites are somewhat level. We stayed on the main road and not the waters edge sites because the size and level of the sites were more for our needs. Clean facilities. Access to the lake with canoe at the turn around. Would definitely come back. Golfing was inexpensive and lots of other activities available. Would be a great place for family reunion or group get together.
Stayed for the weekend at the blue lodges on the property. It looked like the rooms were recently renovated to a more modern feel. It was very comfortable. The room had a bit of a chemical smell which I was led to believe was from the cleaning products. We helped reduce this by lighting a candle. The Internet is rather slow here and it looks like that's how the TV service is provided. We ran into some technical troubles with the TV but that wasn't a big concern given that we weren't there to stay and watch TV. Beautiful park and friendly staff. Plenty of amenities. Pool, playground, Cornhole, community grill, putting green, and more.

My wife and I also explored the Lakeview loop on our bikes. There were 4 trees down. Needs some maintenance.

You're welcome future hikers.. I cleared all the spider webs with my face and body. 🤣😦

Great outdoor range. Pistol and rifle. Shotgun too. $9 per hour as of this date 2023. Steel plates at 25 yards on pistol range so if you fill your paper target u can swithc to steel till cease fire time to change paper target.

Jake is the best gunsmith around. I wouldn’t take my firearms anywhere else!
Much better facility than 25 years ago. My prior visit to this range was back when it was un-monitored and messy. Range fee is a small price to pay for the added safety.
Excellent outdoor range with a GREAT Range Master. Great safety protocols! I pass by here when I’m in town and always stop to shoot.

I see a few bad reviews, and I notice 2 things in common with all the negative reviews.

1. Sensitive cry babies that don’t like to be corrected.

2. Unprepared, untrained, and uneducated people.

This is not a gun school. If you are new to shooting, AWESOME! Welcome. Spend some money and take a into to shooting class at your local gun range.

There is 1 RANGE MASTER for whole range. Don’t get mad when he can’t ignore everyone else to hold your hand.

Be safe, learn, and have fun!!
Very friendly and very knowledgeable staff. I've had 4 of my long guns worked on or assembled here in the last 2 months and they've been great! I think the word is out...every time I come in they are busy.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great gunsmith.

Jake helped me get a scope base that fit my Muzzleloader and made installation suggestions.
This place is really busy with a full line of gunsmithing, including machine work.

Jake is extremely knowledgeable with his craft, he does amazing work and stands behind his work. By far one of the best gunsmiths I know.
This is a fantastic range. I see all the negative comments below, but apparently some people have a superiority complex and don’t feel like they need to be told what to do.

The truth of the matter is, the range master is very professional and if he has to be curt with an individual, it’s just for safety reasons. I mean, firearms in the hands of irresponsible or thoughtless people can cost a life. Imagine if somebody died here because of somebody’s negligence. Litigious, lawsuit happy individuals we will rush to file at their local clerks office.

Nonetheless, they run a very tight ship here. I like that. Safety first. And these people prioritize safety. Nice clean range, most individuals are very kind with each other. Young lady behind the counter is very sweet. No arrogance here.

I took a gun of mine to Jake for a trigger job, and it made a huge difference in accuracy. I couldn't be more pleased. Fast turnaround as promised.
I highly endorse Jake.
ARCHERY REVIEW - great indoor facility with 20 yrd range. Safe and cool environment at a reasonable price, BUT!!! They open at noon, so if you get there in mornings and go down see it’s empty as typically is…you cannot use it until noon. I get sometimes they have a guy getting paid to teach people, but even that takes place later days. It’s a shame because lots of people don’t use it because they’d rather profit off some guy teaching than let the citizens of the county use the range in mornings. The worst part is that it’s open and empty on some of those days. I’m close by, but not considered Fairfax county resident so my complaints go unheard. What a waste to further the sport of archery for everyone. Beware of a guy that calls himself “Al” that works there (pictured), steer clear. Probably not his real name, guys like him typically lie about everything. In his mind he owns the place and isn’t very friendly. Good luck archers, I’ll not be going there again.

Every summer when I'm back in the midwest I bring all of my gunsmithing needs to Jake. He's talented, dependable, honest, and fast. His shop is like a small museum and he makes all of his customers feel welcome. I wouldn't think of bringing my guns anywhere else.
Best place in New England.

Jake and his team were phenomenal to work with. Extremely knowledgeable with great recommendations to help me get the most out of my rifle setup. The work performed on my rifles was outstanding. I’d highly recommend Gunsmith Jake.

Fantastic Gunsmith! Jake is incredibly friendly and straightforward. I walked in and he was able to install some pistol sights right away and a very good price. Went back when I had some issues with a rifle, he looked at it right away and gave me his, no charge. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else!
I absolutely love this Southern superstar! I took my staff on a retreat after I fell in love on my first visit. They all fell in love as well and we had a very productive and bonding corporate retreat. The lodging was first class, unique and affordable and the staff made you feel like you were at a bed and breakfast. This could work for so many of our future events.
My Friend and I were going skeet shooting but first I had to learn how to shoot a shotgun. I wanted to go skeet shooting for years. I've been to the gun range but never handled or shot a shotgun.

Mr. Ken Schafer was my Instructor and he was a delight. He had me laughing and put me at ease. The lesson lasted about 30/45 minutes. I thought we were going to do some skeet shooting but we left. I can't wait to go back and do some skeet shooting. I will definitely come back again soon!!

I called about a dress code I was told there wasn't one but once I got there I realized I wasn't dressed appropriately.

ALL
1. Make sure to wear close toed shoes so when you shoot the clay discs they don't hit your toes.
2. Bring a basecall cap or some other rimmed hat so when you shoot the discs won't hit your face.
3. Bring sunglasses or some other type of glasses. This will ensure nothing gets in your eyes.
4. You can bring drinks - obviously no alcohol. I would check if you can bring a cooler or not.
5. Bring sunscreen as there isn't much shade, except up by the deck near the building.

WOMEN
1. I made the mistake of wearing a tank top - DO NOT!! Wear a t-shirt with with sleeves. You want to ensure the gun doesn't slide off to your skin. It will also ensure the shotgun isn't resting on your skin.
2. Consider renting or bringing a shoulder pad. Mr. Ken Schafer allowed me to use one of his shoulder pads. I didn't have any bruising but I didn't expect my should to be a little sore the next day.

Beautiful plantation. The location for the wedding were stunning! The cabins we're accomadating with space for everyone and each room had its own bathroom.Plus the beds we're very comfortable. Kitchen was big and great for caterers. Highly recommend Ashburn for any event!
Ashburn hill is just an amazing place. Between the cotton fields and the cabins. Stayed here twice for an event and it was the most peaceful place.
Can't wait to have the opportunity to stay here again.
They also do skeet shooting and hunting trip as well.
Did the skeet shooting but not the hunting. Maybe next time
The place has a lot of character and the folks that operate it are very friendly. It's not perfect. We had a mouse loose in our cottage both nights we spent here and one night it joined us in bed. I know that's a deal breaker for most. I understand that reaction. But this is the country and these things can be hard to control. The cottage we stayed in had outlets coming out of the wall and power cords that had not been tucked out of sight, or even attempted to manage . We enjoyed the horseback riding and skeet shooting. With a little extra effort it could be significantly better.
