I was missing some things for a kimono fit and the owner was so nice and friendly. She helped me make sure I had everything I needed and had a great selection of kimono products!

I LOVE YUMIKO AND HER KIMONOS It’s like the beginning of a new studio ghibli film!!!!!!

I absolutely love Kimono House. Yumiko-san is the absolute sweetest person you'll ever meet. Ever since I shopped here years ago for the very first time for my first vintage silk Kimono, I can never shop anywhere else for my Kimono needs. I highly recommend stopping by this cute little shop. She has a lot of gems that are so unique and beautifully made. There is a variety of Kimonos, Yukatas, and accessories. You really need to love the Japanese culture and give it a chance to understand why certain pieces are the price point they are. To make a beautiful Kimono is not easy and very rare these days. A brand new made Kimono can cost thousands of dollars even in Japan because of the craftsmanship and skills being put into making the Kimono. High quality silk Kimonos are not mass produced by machine and are still being made by skilled Kimono craftsmen and craftswomen. There are more affordable Kimono options in this shop that are usually vintage/antique just like in Japan. Yumiko-san picks the most beautiful antique/vintage Kimonos and have them at a very reasonable price. One thing to consider, Kimonos give off the impression that its a one size fit all. However, Kimonos do actually come in different sizes. Vintage and antique Kimonos back in the day are usually made smaller but, Yumiko-san is very skilled in choosing a variety of sizes that can fit almost anyone that visits. Since Kimonos are so well made (can be delicate if made of silk) they last years to come when you take care of them. Yumiko-san also provides lessons if anyone is interested in learning the art of Kimono dressing. If you are thinking about purchasing your first Kimono, I would highly recommend you visit Yumiko-san at Kimono House.

This place is awesome! I had heard about it and decided to drop by one day. It is small but full of some incredible pieces. I was looking for something similar to a light coat, couldn't explain it very well but they were able to assist me and found exactly what I was looking for. So much amazing merchandise!

Great experience. Yumiko-san (the owner) is one of the most wholesome people I've met. She's very attentive, patient, knows what she's talking about, very understanding, and good at listen. Variety of kimono and accessories in the store, very beautiful and well preserved. Price wise there's also a lot of variety. Definitely recommend it.

最高。This place is an gem and they will take care of you. 14 years and running so you know they offer the real thing. I came in for some Japanese handkerchiefs and was blown away by their stock of authentic Japanese wares. Priced EXTREMELY fairly. Friendly service will get you exactly what you need and keep you coming back for more. ありがとうございます!

Very nice store, the proprietor is wonderful too!

Kimono House is one of New York City's best kept secrets. The shop is full of exquisite fineries. We have made several purchases we are very proud of including two formal Kimonos. The proprietor is a wealth of knowledge regarding fashion design and the traditions of the merchandise. We will return to Kimono House again and again every time we are in Manhattan. For a five-star shopping experience, you will, too.

What a stunning store!
From the cups & plates and kimonos, everything is beautiful!

Lovely Japanese items with a pleasant and knowledgeable owner. Many great gifts at reasonable prices.

I haven’t been in person to their shop, but they also have online ordering of special kaiseki Japanese meals. It was amazing! I stumbled upon this and ordered for a special occasion. What a delightful and unique experience. Kaiseki meals delivered to your door (shidashi style, which is like fancy to-go bento box), and they come by later to pick up the reusable ceramic containers. Don’t expect a meal with a pile of food, but rather delicious ingredients prepared in a very thoughtful and tasty way.

The store is clean and well decorated. They offer a lot of Japanese hand made tableware. And many kimonos and clothing from Japan. The owner is friendly and helpful.

A great shop with a diverse collection of traditional ceramics from Japan--particularly from Toki in Gifu prefecture, a region known for its pottery. In addition to plates, cups, bowls, platters, tea pots, and macha bowls, the shop also sells kimono. It's great to browse the collection, which changes often as the owner brings new items from different artisans in that region of Japan. The items are beautiful and the value is good considering the pieces are one-of-a-kind and each come with an interesting story.

I visited TOKIYA after Christmas and spent time being educated by the very helpful and informative saleslady at the shop. I purchased many beautiful objects and hope to return soon. Thank you TOKIYA JAPAN for being in Washington !

Such a wonderful little shop. A must visit if you're into pottery! They really had some amazing works of art. I loved the little cups I got. Apparently they will also have workshops/seminars.
