An excellent community college. Most professor I have encountered, are very helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. The campus itself is nice, spacious and well kept. There’s paid parking on campus and plenty of free street parking in the surrounding blocks around. They also have a good food/drink selection at the cafeteria.

If you actually care about your education, don't waste your time attending this school. Classes are rigged and professors are biased.

An amazing college for students just starting out. You're definitely getting your money's worth coming to this school with professors that truly care and try to help you as much as possible (granted you checked their reputation with Rate My Professor).

Amazing college the staff want to help you succeed in your future

Applying for BMCC is the worst decision I’ve ever made. I haven’t attended any classes at BMCC, but I had to pay over $700 for tuition fees. The BMCC staff were not helping at all. They always ask you to contact other staff, but ‘other staff’ will also ask you to contact another staff. In the end, no one will help to solve the problem. They only care about money instead of students. My registration issue starts on January 25th, until now the problem is still there and no one cares about your problem. Finally, the bursar staff showed up and urged you to pay for the unreasonable tuition charges. Also, they don’t care about your problem either. I am extremely disappointed with BMCC staff.

My experience at college was disappointing and frustrating. I felt like it was a waste of money and time. From the beginning, I encountered issues with uneducated staff, rude behavior, and incorrect information. Things got worse when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
In the first semester, classes went online, but in the second semester, the college forced all students to get vaccinated and removed all online classes, resulting in 20,000 students being kicked out of classes. I even applied for a religious exception, but my beliefs were not verified, and I felt judged. This was contradictory to the college's advertised commitment to diversity, which I found to be fake. In the following semester, I lost my student status as they did not offer any online classes and kicked me out of my classes. I reached out to various departments, but none of them seemed to care. As an international student, I suggest you save your time and money by avoiding BMCC and choose a different college. BMCC, is a DISCRIMINATION INSTITUTION , NOT A EDUCATIONAL ONE.

WORST EXPERIENCE i've ever had!!
I would not recommend BMCC or any of there courses. The educators have minimal qualifications and its all about profit. They purposely make you jump through many holes to ensure you get a NYC resident rate just to charge you full tuition price. It has happened to all my classmates as well. There is culture of fear amongst students as we are aware the teachers don't care about us. Making the whole experience miserable. All in all if you want a subpar education with teachers who just want to retire and get on with there lives. This is the place for you

I was a student from 1994 to 1998
Quality of education: BMCC offers a wide range of academic programs that are taught by knowledgeable and experienced professors. The curriculum is challenging and prepares students for success in their chosen fields.
Accessibility: BMCC is located in the heart of New York City, making it easily accessible by public transportation. The college also offers flexible scheduling options, including evening and weekend classes, to accommodate students' busy schedules.

Christmas breakfast is being held here. Nice place.

Be careful with this college if you plan to eventually move out of state. Be sure to check with your next college about which accreditation agencies they accept. To my knowledge, GCC only stated they were accredited, not by whom directly (rookie mistake), in 2014, and it took pages of in depth research on their own website to see that they weren't accredited by a particular agency until after I left the college and state. After starting enrollment at my new college, I've had to fight tooth and nail to prove my unofficial transcript valid. They sent out a letter of accreditation to my current university stating that they are indeed accredited by MS. Supposedly I was to get that letter when they transitioned to MS. I did not. Not through any form of contact. Still invalid as they were in consideration for MS accreditation at my time of enrollment there, not actually accredited by MS until 2017. I attended for a little over two years and now at nearly 3 surrounding colleges near me, I am told that I have to enroll as a freshman regardless. As a sidenote, I am unsure if this has changed, but during my freshman year registration for classes was not very flexible at all and you had to choose morning (popular) or night classes. 1 of those classes were actually maybe 2 classes combined. If my memory serves me correct, I was taking enough to consider myself a smidgen above full time. My point is, if you are willing to put the elbow grease in, make double sure that the next college will have no issue giving you the green light or you will waste time, money, and patience. Freshman: READ ALL THE FINE PRINT AND PLAN WELL. Edit: just checked QCC and they do accept MS, however, remember GCC was not with them until the beginning of 2017, so 2014 enrollees probably had their own set of troubles, as well.

The Continuing Ed Department has been, and continues to be, a great resource for many community members. It has started in-person personal development classes; swimming, tennis. They've been offering virtual job development classes during the pandemic. The hope is that other in person classes will come back next term.

Nice facility

My son had difficult fall 2021 semester. After contacting the college was answered by intelligent warm caring people from the bursars office to registrar office. Took the time to guide him through the trouble and now the spring semester looks promising ! Ty Josie Palmer Michele Mcloughlin Mary O’Gara and Joy ( sorry about not knowing your last name ) . With the difficult times we have been facing it’s nice to know that there are people who took the time to help and show my son support to receive and continue his education

Studied and had the opportunity to also work there for over 10 years in the Library-Reserve Area, then the IRS Instructional Resources Center computer area. Loved it. The Campus is beautiful. The staff and professors were great. To this day I still miss those days. 🙏🤗🤗🙏

This is a nice facility to have meetings and gatherings. There is a large parking lot next to the entrance to the Hospitality House for convenience.

The college has won multiple awards from the CUNY system as well as other institutions for its ability to grant Associate's Degrees at an impressive rate and to foster continuing education at senior colleges. With a respectable teacher-to-student ratio, significant public and private funding, and a central location in New York City, the learning experience has been covered by many publications and studied by experts.
However, BMCC also suffers from a large rise in remedial education, lack of freshman retention, and overcrowding. Due to its larger base of capital compared to most other two-year colleges, expansion of new campuses during the rebuilding of Fiterman Hall was possible. Several trailers are still used as classrooms to this day in order to help expand capacity. Internal programs have also been created or expanded to help with academic advisement, provide online access for registration, transferring to other colleges, and job placement.
A diverse student base, some of whom had immigrated to America shortly before enrolling, also makes tailoring a viable solution difficult. Improving the retention and graduation rate as well as the increased financial and academic burdens of a remedial program still remain a considerable problem.
The Center for Career Development (CCD) provides students with comprehensive career planning services. Its professional career counselors assist students in making informed decisions about an area of study; research occupations that match their personal interests; write a resume; practice interviewing, and help them prepare as candidates for internships and employment. Students also learn to clarify their career goals, develop effective communication and interpersonal skills, conduct job searches, and develop a digital portfolio for employers to view as evidence of their skills, accomplishments and professional qualifications. In addition, CCD partners with New York Needs You, the New York office of America Needs You, to host career-oriented events and seminars to bring industry insights to its students.

I would recommend all new freshmen to go to rate my professor on Google and type their name when you're registering for classes so you won't waste your money on a bad professor. The school lunch is quite expensive, I would recommend buying from a store and it taste better as well. The area is pretty great. Some professor would really want you to pass, go to their office hours or tutoring, this would help a lot. There are students who still treats this campus like high school and they end up dropping the class within 3 weeks. Don't study in the library, it's always noise there. You can make friends but that's for like 4 months unless you guys have the same classes. Make sure, by all means to do all your homework as soon as possible. The amount of free time you get in college is a curse because students struggled to manage their time correctly, same with exams. If you want to graduate within 2 years, you can't fail or drop a class. Best of luck to you all.

REALLY small like a closet and classes as small as elementary school, our tour guide could barely speak English but was very nice and did wait for all of us

QCC is a great college. Staff and professors are so professional and knowledgeable. I love Queensborough Community College! 🥰😘😍❤

Great college with students who are striving to better themselves. Without places like BMCC, thousands of NYers would have no access to higher ed. Most 4 year colleges do not have the resources to think about students who do not fit a specific SAT, GPA, or language level.

Very diverse. You can see all kind of people over here. Most of the students and staff are friendly. Environment is good. Friendly neighborhood. If you are hungry, you can find all types of food around the building. It has 26000 student. It also has a big cafeteria, big library, big quiet study place for study and a lot more . All in all this is one of the best college.

QCC is hosting The New York Wind Ensemble's concert and the acoustics are good with a wide stage area. Auditorium is clean and has a balcony.

It's a good college with many support services for the students, plus the library stays open late which is awesome when your schedule is in the afternoon and need to get work done after classes.

Theoretically, this is a very good school. At the time of my attendance, it was number one in New York state for community colleges based on multiple measures of success. The professors are well-versed in their subjects and for the most part, they are very professional. There are innumerable resources accessible to students as well.
However, the atmosphere feels very much like high school, perhaps even more so than my actual high school did. The professors, while professional, do treat their pupils as if they are children oftentimes and several policies reinforce this. Additionally, the lack of cooperation and choice in schedule creation, the odd semester and cohort arrangement (meaning that you are in school for twelve months out of the year and in classes with the same people for this time), the relative obscurity of the school and it's reputation as a whole, and the high tuition rate do not make this a good school for the value, in my opinion.

Guttman Community College is constantly supporting the notion of development of long-term skills. For example, writing a critical research paper, presenting a project in front of people (a good exercise against insecurity), researching issues in your neighborhood, etc. For this reason, my experience in this institution was remarkable. I believe I have learned enough abilities for my own sake.

this by far is a beautiful college, I had the honor of being apart of the 1st EVER class , the staff and prof's are VERY helpful and here at GUTTMAN ,family is strong. You will walk in here shy and not knowing much , but I guarantee b the time you leave , you will be cracking jokes with everyone and walking out with a associates degree. I an forever thankful for Guttman community college. This college has grown a lot in just 2 years. I will defiantly miss the staff and family here.

I learned Spanish here. Teachers are great and location is near 495, 295, and 210. Ample parking provided.
