I have loved the Henderson Castle since 1986 when I was able to tour for the first time. I have since had the opportunity to go there for a haunted tour. So much fun! They have done such a wonderful job upgrading the home, but keeping the feel of a home built in the 1800's. The staff are wonderful and make you feel very welcome.
I took my daughters and my mother-in-law for the High Tea. We loved the atmosphere, so beautiful inside and out. The tea options were great and the menu was very tasty. I was grateful for how easily it lent itself to those with dietary restrictions (gluten-free in our case). The service was impeccable. We will be back at some point for an overnight stay!
We had a wonderful dinner here. The service was excellent and the tour was amazing. Next time, I hope we get to stay the night! The location is just a few miles from downtown Kalamazoo and we saw some sketchy behavior before walking up to the castle, but the castle and grounds itself felt safe and inviting. Can’t wait to visit again.
Took my wife for a quick get away. Very well worth the trip. Staff super friendly and helpful rooms and castle absolutely beautiful and comfortable. Chef Chris cooked our dinner to perfection and Chef Francois made our breakfast and I have to say hands down best omelets and croissant. We arrived and from the start we were immediately beginning to relax. This is a must stay and enjoy. Can’t wait to go back.
My husband took me here as a surprise for my birthday. It was such a fun and unique experience!!!! We stayed in the tower room which was so cool! We had fun walking around the castle, our server for dinner was such a sweet girl and so amazing to talk to, and the bartender was very welcoming and made me feel extra special by giving me a birthday glass of champagne when we first arrived.
We absolutely loved our stay at Henderson Castle. Right across the street is a huge beautiful cemetery where the Hendersons are buried and was fascinating to explore. The castle itself is like stepping back into time. It was easy to imagine the long ago history that took place in the castle. The rooms were beautiful and clean. We were able to explore the castle at our leisure. We saw people dining there and it looked great but we chose to explore the plentiful nearby restaurants during our stay. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Henderson Castle and staff for a job well done!
We have been doing the couple’s packages for the spa treatments for 3 years and they are wonderful! My husband is obsessed with the tomato bisque! The dinners are delicious too! We did wine tasting last time and the bar tender (Mike…I think) was very knowledgeable on his wine! He even got my husband to try some! We now have a bottle of wine! We enjoy going for something special and different then the normal.
Stunning winery with amazing wine. The epitome of hospitality. I loved hearing about the sustainable efforts being made by this winery and the tasting location looks out over a beautiful valley of vines. I could not imagine a more special day.

We had the most wonderful experience at the watercolor art class held at Lynfred Winery in Wheeling. Becca, our instructor, was simply amazing and incredibly professional. Her welcoming personality set the tone for a fantastic class.

An amazing winery with an endless selection of wine. I am still on the sweeter (mostly red blends, riesling and fruit) side of wine and their Plum wine is my absolute go to since 2016z. I have recommended a few liquor stores in Chicago to start selling this and my landlord, whose family has owned Vas Foremost Liquors for over 50 years, has started offering a few varieties from Lynfred now! Just absolutely amazing service and prices I will forever appreciate Lynfred. <3

This review is about the wine experience and not stay. Overall good experience. We were a little late for wine tasting but tried their wine flight for red wines and all the featured wines were good. We ended up picking a couple of bottles for home. The place although in middle of Roselle town, has nice ambience and multiple places (indoor & outdoor) to sit and enjoy the wine. I wish they had some more snack options. Would like to get the tasting experience sometime soon.
This was our third time visiting the winery and thoroughly enjoyed the wine, the atmosphere and prices were not that bad. When we first visited, we asked the girl at the counter about outside food. She assured us we could bring in outside food since they only have cheese and bread sticks. The second time we visited we brought in our own charcuterie board with additional food other than cheese and bread sticks. No one said anything to us. Since we were told on our first visit it was ok to bring in our own food, we assumed it was ok. On our third visit, when we brought in pizza, we were quickly reprimanded that outside food was not allowed and told us we could not stay inside after we had purchased our wine on a very hot 90 degree day. There are no signs saying outside food is not allowed and we’re told on our first visit that it was allowed. We were considering being a wine club member, but I’m glad we did not sign up. The person that told us to leave humiliated us in front of other patrons. The one star is for the quality of the wine. We will not be back.
This was on one of our stops from a trolley tour. Decent spot. We did wine tasting. I highly recommend checking them out. It a real chill spot. They allow outside food. They had live music. It was a good vibe overall.
We are visiting from out of town, and stopped here because of the beautiful hydrangeas. I'm so glad we did. This is a beautiful place, with delicious wine, and fantastic staff! The Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect wine on a hot summer day.
My wife and I loved our time at Amalthea!! Ursula and Rebecca were welcoming, endlessly helpful, generous (with both knowledge AND pours…!), and fun to chat with. The wines were versatile and had amazing depth of flavor. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back. 5 stars - a wonderful experience all around!
I think this winery is a hidden gem. Not as popular as some of the other local wineries, but I enjoyed all the wines I tried. Did a dry white and dry red flight. All were very enjoyable. Finished the visit with a bottle of the Europa!!
7/29/23 first time here- nice spot and cool vibe. Many different seating options. Lots of Art hanging on the walls. Good selection for wine and decent beer selection. I went with a good standard: purple monkey dishwasher by Evil Genius.

The one star is for customer service. Horrible, rude experience!! We live locally and always go to the tasting room in downtown Clayton. We have never been directly to the winery. Saturday we decided to go check it out, we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff, one of the associates directed us to the tasting counter. The person working behind the counter completely ignored us, didn’t even acknowledge us standing there. It was not that busy at that moment, about 5 other people at the tasting counter. Finally, after about 15 minutes or more she strolled over and asked, did you want to do a tasting? Then proceeded to just pour the wine one after another into the glass, no explanation, no conversation and as fast as she could go. Very rude. She needed to be on the register and the other two that greeted us should’ve been at the tasting counter. On another note: Thank you Christian for awesome tacos and brisket sammy! The food was awesome!
Cool and unique place to visit. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. Stayed in one of the rooms for one night. The room was big and comfortable. Dinner prices are high. We opted to go into downtown Kalamazoo to eat, which is also a fun option. This is a piece of history I am happy to support.
I’m not a huge wine drinker because it’s hard to find kinds I like. I love the flight option where you can decide what wines you want to try. The outdoor seating is small but it’s so cozy and the view is amazing

In my opinion best winery in this area. Had a positive experience here. We each had a glass of Marquette. They have a great area for sitting and not far from Alexandria. Friday nights they have pizza night wood fire pizza and on sourdough crust sounds fabulously. Will make sure to reserve our spot for pizza and wine next time we are in town. As so should you reading this.Highly recommend.
Really enjoyed the visit! Wine was good (Marquette) and there were a number of nice areas to sit and relax. Had a nice chat with owners who are very friendly. Heard good things about the pizza - sour dough crust and wood fired. Truly a hidden gem you should check out if you are in the area.
We were there on the perfect summer day in June. The wines were nice...liked the Marquette best. The grand-daughter of the owner waited on us and was fun and pleasant. Happy to see multi-generational family business!

Had a really fun evening here! Between my husband and I we tried 10 of their wines (had a flight each) and really enjoyed every one. We had so much fun talking to the owner Brit and getting to know him and getting recommendations on the local area. We will definitely be back while we're in the area! Highly recommend :)

Really beautiful place with great wine. You'll feel like you found a secret gem when you visit. I particularly like the europa wines. Plus a family of chipmunks lives by the sitting area so you see can watch the cuties running back and forth while you enjoy a glass or two of wine.
Great local winery with a large selection of wines. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant has live music and is very large and spacious inside! They have games and couches in the back if your looking to just hangout with friends and have some good wine while you relax!
My wife and I don't have an educated palate. We were invited by friends. I met with the owner and then went into a wine tasting. The stigma of New Jersey wines being sweet and fruity is inaccurate. I experienced several varieties and vintages that were worldly and quite sophisticated. I am an expat Briton and have tasted wines all over europe. Thank you to my friend Jim and to Lou for hosting us for a really beautiful afternoon in the garden outside the cellars. Many thanks to Carlos for an excellent tasting. Your knowledge of these wines , their pairings and the overall experience of each is extensive and was much appreciated. I think I'll be buying more from this excellent local vendor
This place is right behind my house and I decided to give it a try for mother's day and I absolutely loved it. The ambience was fantastic. The greeting when I walked in the door, along with the smiles and staff ready to explain everything to me made this experience top tier. I didn't know which wine to try. I told the staff to surprise me. The selection was excellent. The price is affordable. And the customers were even pleasant. Loved it. Will definitely be back.
This vineyard is like going back in time to vintage France. The estate is from the 1800’s. This is the 8th oldest winery in the state of NJ. Tastings are $6 each and will get you around 5 wines each with maybe a couple bonus pours. You can mix and match tastings depending on preference of wine. Carlos will give you a very detailed history of the wines and the flavor pairings. He’s awesome! You can enjoy a glass or bottle in the wine barrel room outdoors in the garden area. Wines are AMAZING! Highly recommend

Not a “bar” but rather a “tasting room”… only saying that ‘cause it is their policy from the “liquor license” that each patron can only consume 16ounces per visit. The team was fun and friendly. I would not recommend the popcorn - $10! A monthly rotating menu is fun.
Hidden gem of Morgan Hill. Interesting wines with sophisticated structure and balance. Pleasant facility with indoors and outdoors seating.
Get the membership, you won’t be disappointed. Always friendly staff and wine prices are reasonable with fantastic views of the mountains. Easy access from route 7 with activities, special events and live music. Check the website for current events.
We stayed here a year ago and had a horrible time. We weren't informed that our bathroom was out of service until we arrived. They offered us a room on the other side of the ballroom which has a functioning bathroom. Granted, the bed and toilet were five feet away from each other and had no walls. We were granted the use of that room at no extra charge...across the ballroom. They could care less about the issue.

We were members years ago. Stopped by for a glass of wine today. Wines are still solid. Service seems to have slipped a bit. Used to be super friendly. Today the attitudes seemed stand offish to the point of sterile. Still great wines. Especially the reds and recommend if in the area.

I was introduced to this wine about 2 years ago while visiting son and daughter in law in New York. Have since been ordering it. I have enjoyed the River Boat Red.

Great wines, friendly patrons and knowledgeable staff. Added bonus: the scenery and the sweetest dog, Aruba. I loved it here so much, I came back for more. The Rooster Red is my favorite (cab sauv finish).
What a wonderful place to visit and become a member of!! The pics of elegance speak for themselves but imagine taking your town/life troubles away and surrounding yourself with amazing tastes, smells and sights!! The food truck days are always worth a second visit for a dinner date night and my wife and I recently had lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and we tried a tasting and truly enjoyed ourselves before heading back to work!! #1 in our books for local wineries!! & we go everywhere!!
The Wheeling location is in an older house and refurbished. The rooms are a bit small so table space is limited. The wine, however is still wonderful. Later on .... still a bunch of wonderful wines.

I really like this place. Cheese boards were excellent, wine selections were very good. Service was very good. The no tip policy (any tips go to a local charity) is also a nice concept. One thing i would love to see as I have at some wine bars in the city is some seating that has more of that "home" feel, a few softer, plusher seating. Not redo the entire place but maybe just add 2 or 4 of the more comfy seating for couples who want to sit back and relax.
Pretty winery and tasting room and they're wines are quite exquisite. If we didn't have reservations elsewhere, we would've spent the day here enjoying the views and a bottle of wine. We suggest their Founder, Rose and the Riesling and Vidal blanc blended wines.

A beautiful winery that brought me back to 151 in Virginia. The wines were great. They had a food truck, hiking trails, chickens... Plan to spend a couple hours here. Wine was priced at around $20 a bottle 8/22. By the glass was about $7. They offer light snacks and sangria.
We LOVE this place. Lady at the bar was so nice and caring. She told us how to order(cuz its our first visit), pick another table inside when we found out outdoor seating has ppl smoking. Thevplace agreed outside food and provides substantial Wine selection. Definitely will come back again. we bought 3 bottle of wines after tasting. Such a lovely wine store.

The castel attendees were less than friendly and said they would be doing a wine tasting at 3. Mind you... it was past 3:30 at this point. They offered we could sit in the bar for a drink but the people in there said they were not able to ring up a drink. 1 star here was extra generous as this place complete dissapointment and such a destruggle!!

Florian and his family have done an amazing job producing excellent wine. It is quality over quantity at Burr. Their signature wines are made only with the cold hearty, grapes grown right there at Burr.
I tried to get in for the winery tour but they were booked. I was informed that I could walk around on first floor of house and the grounds outside. The unfortunate situation is that they are doing renovations so a lot of hard to get to spots. I couldn't stay for more but the hosts and other working staff I ran into were absolutely fabulous. They gave what information they could in the small amount of time, I can't say enough about how pleasant they were

Have enjoyed the Roselle location since the 80's and it was great to discover this spot in Wheeling. Very friendly staff. As always, the wines are wonderful and the flights offer a great opportunity to sample a variety. Not at all ostentatious making for a fun, casual, enjoyable experience. Highly recommend especially for a late afternoon when they are not busy.
We are so happy to be able to come back and spend some time at this beautiful location. They have great vino and at times some real fun entertainment. Can't wait to spend time here on the upcoming weekends.

I loved coming here. It was such a cute date idea and the tasting was very yummy. The person that gave us the tasting was extremely knowledgeable- so we loved his story telling throughout it all!

Not going back here after a really subpar experience and later hearing from others that they had similar troubles. After waiting almost an hour from when the tour was supposed to start at 2pm (we were told the tour guide was in the bathroom supposedly this whole time but we never saw the individual), plans were changed to do the wine tasting and then the tour. My wife and I didn't care for any of the wines. The bartender then became our tour guide and did a decent job of showing us around the castle and wine cellar (15 min tour with some stories). While we were at the castle there was a wedding going on right out front with guests and wedding party walking in and out of the castle which added to the feeling of us being secondary or unwelcome. There were two nice employees attending the front desk which seemed to be overwhelmed trying to manage everything going on. I gave this a 2 star, instead of 1 star, review because the front desk ladies were nice and gave us complimentary champagne (honestly better than any of the wines) for our patience in waiting almost an hour as well as because the bartender was nice. The castle was cool and the whole place has a lot of potential to be way more but there seems to be a management and/or employee staff problem (I left out several other things about this). I hope they get things sorted. Cheers.

Lovely vineyard, small cozy patio with beautiful views of the mountains! We loved the wine flight and the presentation. Also tried the hot mulled wine for the first time and it was delicious and just perfect for the fall cold weather. Being able to get your own snacks on the patio is an added bonus to enjoy the wine!!

Wonderful establishment-- we got there at the end of the season, so they only had 5 selections left (down from the 11 they started the season with) but all of them were quite good and we ended up purchasing a bottle. The two women running the room were also very friendly. There was also a lot of outdoor seating to enjoy the wonderful weather.

Visited last Saturday for the first time. Beautiful HUGE open patio. Wine was great, weather was perfect, staff was exceptional. We were not rushed and they kept right up with us on the tastings despite the full patio of people. Delicious Sangria too!

Can't tell you too much. We love this place and want to keep it a secret from the masses...I think we are failing.
Great place. We went to a fancy tasting and had so much fun. We joined the club and get two wines a month now. We also visit regularly to get tastings of new wines that come as a part of being a member of a club! Also highly recommend trying the housemade fudge with some red wine.
