Disappointing experience with the bakery. Purchased 2 veg pies, but upon opening, discovered they were spoiled and rotten. Imagine biting into a rotten potato. The lack of quality control is alarming. As a customer, I expect freshness and safety.
Terrible Bakery Quality. Stale Cakes delivered. The customer service is bad that calling the store is an expense for you as the shopper. Using the 60 minutes App, the staff just packs the product as a tick box excerise. Management should consider training or a refresher on customer service for the staff. Store reputation is at risk.
All I can say is wow👌. Everything was just perfect. We ordered a Banoffy pancake and their classic baked cheesecake. By far the best cheesecake i have tasted. The pancake was delicious it just melts in your mouth. The atmosphere is really amazing and takes you to another world. Dining outside the Forrest. A nice view of a pond below with some nice greenery while having your cappuccino. Btw The cappuccino was great with cream 😋. Also a beautiful 10 minute Forrest trail keeping you in touch with nature.
This is an amazing breakfast spot. Location also has a short forest walk so you feel like you are in some tropical rain Forrest.

Our family discovered this hidden gem in Ballito, tucked away on a corner of Dolphin Crescent, and we are smitten! A quiet coffee shop surrounded by tropical forest, you can sit in-or outside and listen to the birds while having a light meal or decadent cappuccino. And this is not JUST a coffee shop, it is supports local business by selling a variety of gorgeous goodies, from homemade jams to soy candles and beeswax body butter. We had a wonderful 'tea and cake' afternoon, sitting outside in the deck. Despite the kamikaze falling berries from the trees, it was still such an enjoyable experience, totally relaxing. Walk off your lunch by following the nature trail through the forest, a lovely, easy 10min stroll. Needless to say, we walked off with an armful of candles and beeswax products and more cheesecake slices! A definite stop for anyone visiting Ballito 💚💚💚💚💚

One of the best cheesecake slices I've ever had comes from Waterberry. The shop was busy and service a little slow but understandable. All of our food was top notch and hope to visit again soon. Don't drop the quality guys!

A cosy and welcoming place to have a meal. Indoor fireplace wards off the winter morning chill, coffee is tasty, food is plentiful and feels like it was cooked at home. The traditional Eggs Benedict is an absolute winner!

I've been wanting to try this place out. The service was a very friendly. I loved all the selection as well. Perhaps it was a terrible first experience of the food, but we bought this beautiful looking sourdough bread for a very fair price at less than 40 rands. Once it was in my hands, immediately I felt like I regretted the purchase because the bread was really hard. However, I still had hope because sourdough could be soften when heated up...but it was so salty! I've been ordering a lot of sourdough recently from places and this one is not edible for me. O don't know what to do with it now because I don't want to waste food and I don't want to give it to someone else. Perhaps I could go back and have it fixed but it's a drive for me and not worth it.
Old Town Italy was the perfect end to a long week! Wholesome Italian dining paired with excellent service and banter with AB. Add to that, the melodic voice of Stanley Sibande and you have the perfect date night!

Food was amazing, one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. The atmosphere, the wood fire place keeping the place warm. Definitely would recommend going there with friends or family. Oh did I tell you how awesome the staff is. Oooh their homemade jam. Definitely coming back.

Great setting, to sit on a rainy day to chat near the fireplace to catch up with friends. We did tapas sampling of different starters and dessert. Enjoyed the camambert starter and the cranberry sauce. The fish cakes were nice and moist. The wontons were not my favorite, too dry to my liking. The Melva pudding was perfect for a cold winters day. Friendly and helpful staff.
Today (10/09/2024, 16:09pm) my husband and I went to Tambotie Mall Checkers. We got to the express tills where we waited for more than 5 minutes because the lady at the one till was busy with Checkers employees also having fat conversation and the other lady by the other till was standing with her back turned towards us chatting away with the tellers at the money markets side. My husband went to the lady who's back was turned to us and asked her if she was open on which she said yes. I got to the till and told the lady that we were waiting for about 5 minutes while she was having her fat conversation. She didn't even apologise but just sat there cleary angry at us as if we were at fault. I also said to her in the olden days if you had to do what she did you would've been fired Immediately and still no response from her except her clearly discuss in what we said. My husband said to her straight that this is very unprofessional and we went out. Clearly nothing will happen to this as she probably will be praised for making customers wait while having lekker conversations when you should work. But I guess we should get used to this as this has become the new norm in South Africa.
They’re selling bottles of sunscreen that expired in 2022 with erased dates on it for R100, and they scan at R113 at the till. Misrepresenting the new batches by mixing them with the old batch and barcoding those at R224, basically double the price. Both were brought to the counter and no1cared to mention it had expired nearly two years ago. If I hadn’t already read the different dates and taken from behind the front line, I might have believed the merchandiser when he said I didn’t read properly. I had to raise the expiry point myself. With no recourse still. The only options presented was to BUY the expired 2022 one at markdown price or the new one at twice that.
I left both. Because things expire for a reason. People developing skin conditions etc can’t be more important than the bottom line. Take them off the shelf. 2022 was a long time ago.

I’ve been visiting the Waterberry for years - since I was 6, holidaying in Ballito, to when I lived in Salt Rock during high school, to now, during my adult years as a vacationer again. It never disappoints and is so nostalgic, having first known the spot when it was a wooden cabin. The food is great and well-priced and the servers are friendly. Their cheesecakes are so rich & creamy - a must try.

The place boasts a vibrant, open space with both indoor and outdoor seating. The colorful décor, featuring stunning wallpaper and large counters filled with jams, sweets, and artwork for sale, creates a lively atmosphere.
We received a warm welcome and chose an outdoor table with a view of the small dam. Our visit was made perfect with an excellent cup of coffee and a delicious roast chicken and mayo toasted sandwich. Highly recommended!

I like Checkers Tambotie Mall. The staff are friendly and helpful. The queues move fast. It's clean and welcoming.
Ordered a birthday cake using the birthday voucher (10% off). Got the cake on time and they even walked me to my destination. Cake tasted good.
Delicious Italian suppers in a well run restaurant. Perfect music being played added to the ambience of top class restaurant. Heaters were going so even sitting outside, it was comfortable. I actually think that the outside area has a better atmosphere than inside. Jason was a great manager on duty that night. Will definitely be back!
I have breakfast here about twice a week. Food is amazing... But please ensure that your toilets are clean in the mornings. Overall hygiene in the bathrooms are poor. Have noticed it on more than one occasion.
As French I was craving for a croissant 🥐 and found that bakery while shopping at the Rosebank mall and let me tell you that I was not disappointed! The plain croissant was good and convinced me to get more there so I went for the Benedict eggs and waffle! It was delicious, I’m so glad I had it and definitely recommend that place!
Visiting the Checkers hyper Shallcross today was not very pleasant. I went to the pharmacy department and upon standing in the queue waiting the pharmacist who was assisting a gentleman was absolutely rude and arrogant. The manner in which she was screaming at him just for an extra savings card left me in utter disgust. Personally I don't see the need for an extra savings card to purchase medication because to my knowledge we don't get discounts on medication and neither are we obligated to have one, its a choice of our own as individuals. There were other colleagues of hers that were also shocked and continued asking what the gentleman wanted but the lady just continued shouting. After she literally chased him away she mumbled to her colleagues she behaved that way due to him cutting the queue which in actual fact I did not see any queue and if he did so all she could have politely done was say sir please follow the queue. That staff member needs to put herself in his shoes and think how she would have felt had she been treated that way. I did not get her name but to me it shows how she thinks because she is a pharmacist she supposedly takes the title to her head and belittles another human being and also she is racist!!!

The Owner was super accommodating when I told him I am gluten and dairy intolerant. He had my pancakes mix made specially made for me, wich was already gluten free. I have not found any other restaurant in Somerset offering so many gluten free items on their menu and then be prepared to make something specially for me. My husbands omelet was also perfect.

On my eternal search for the balance of quality vs value I landed up here.
I had the Shakshuka which was a 9 out of 10, the only reason not a ten is that I wanted more.
My family had the signature Rosti breakfast which was way too oily for the morning breakfast.
For this reason the average star rating is average.
Pity, the shakshuka was really good.

I decided to shop online, the order I placed was not as I asked and I replied to them and didn't receive any feedback so days past so 'I left it'. That same week I went to the same 'Checkers' and I asked for the product I want to use 'Chocolate mousse' so 2 of their staff told me that they decided to discontinue selling it.
I was very disappointed because I usually bought their 'Fair Cape Chocolate Mousse' so the staff insisted the only option now is PNP.
This week after that disappointing feedback from their staff I decided to place an online order again to see if they improved but it was worse, I waited an hour and 15 min then I decided to add a complaint before they replied back.

I bought the wors as per the photos. It is packed with coriander very little meat. In a piece of about 100mm, it had hundreds of coriander. Disgusting taste and a waste of money.
Judging from a previous review, it seems its a regular occurence for packers to leave something out from your parcel. Either that or the cashier short-changes you if u use cash. Experienced this on a number of occasions to the point where I now drive out of town for regular groceries cos u have to be extra-alert with this branch. Used to use this branch in emergency only. Thank you to the previous reviewer for saving me precious time 'cos going to management will be pointless. Thankfully I lost only R10. But, imagine my horror when I realise the item I needed is missing exactly during fast-breaking time in ramadhan.
We were greeted with a smile and directed to our table, which was booked via Dine Plan, so quick and easy. I'm so glad that we booked to sit outside. What a beautiful setting looking at the winding road up to the vineyards. And as the sun went down, the beautiful glow of lights made for a very cosy setting indeed! And a HUGE bonus for me was the beautiful live music that played throughout the evening , live music always sets such an amazing atmosphere for me.

Beautiful checkers staff is friendly and shopping there makes me just feel comfortable and wants to buy more and more
So this checkers yes its convenient for majority of us that live nearby. But every time of recent that I've been there the meat section really has this bad smell and honestly it smells so disgusting we have had incidents where the meat we bought was off but this smell for me I feel is on a continuous bases which is not on.
Great Checkers branch...well stocked and quick at tills. I'm from Knysna, this is a much nicer branch. Always shop here when in George.
Now, this is a rare occasion for the people in the Chatsworth area. Post Covid and the 2021 looting, the revamped store feels like it was plucked from the more affluent suburbs and placed in the heart of the Ridge Shopping center. Always the freshest, finest products at the same affordable Checkers prices we've become accustomed to. I highly recommend this store for convenience and an all round great shopping experience. P.S. the other stores offer a convenient 1-stop shopping experience overall.

Went to Checkers hyper for my Christmas shopping and I was impressed by the variety and quality of products they had. They had almost everything I needed, from groceries and gifts to decorations and electronics. The store was well-organized and clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly. I found some great deals and discounts, and I was able to check out quickly and easily. Checkers hyper is a one stop shop for all your festive needs. I give them five stars out of five.

Friends invited us for lunch, Old Town Italy 🇮🇹 is one of their all time favorite restaurants. We had a good time of fellowship. Our food was great, tables around us had lovely meals. Their cappuccinos are really good!! We'll come visit soon again!!!

Great menu, with an amazing selection of components for most items on the menu (eg: meat options such as wors, bacon, ham, pork sausage, etc). Most meals coming out of the kitchen looked good, however, I had scrambled egg which I wouldn't recommend as it was dry & rather tasteless. Lovely, quiet & cosy atmosphere.
Something I did appreciate, which not many restaurants do nowadays, was to show the VAT amount on the bill. So if you are adding 15% tip on your bill, this calculation is done for you. Also, your service tip is then based only on the food amount .... whereas if you calculate the tip on the total, are also tipping on the VAT. Just a small point.

The floors is dirty, we bought a combo of R99 and could not get bread, thus us unceptable

We used to go often to the Farmhouse and always had a great all-round experience. Since New Management has taken over, we love it! Great food, service, friendly staff and the "new look" is much better. If you went there before, you won't regret visiting again and again and again.....
A fantastic hidden gem in the southern suburbs. A real nice venue especially on those summery days as they have a fantastic outdoor seating area nevertheless they have plenty indoor seating too. The staff are friendly and helpful and service was great. They have a wide menu with tasty drinks and food all round. There is plenty free on site parking and the venue is wheelchair friendly. Highly recommend
Visited Shoprite this afternoon and received the most disrespectful and rude service from Mandla at teller 6. I visit this store a lot and the staff is always friendly and helpful but i don t know what happened today.
Its like any other supermarket no differences.Late in the afternoons and knock off time it's busy,queues are long but till points only a few are open it's upsetting because they can do better

Nothing changes your life like eating a raw Chicken Liver. Food used to be excellent, now I take a hard left to avoid after the last experience. Your staff and establishment deserve a decent chef running things in the kitchen.
Parents can bring their children to play while enjoying a delicious, affordable meal inside or outside of The Farmhouse. There is a swingset and one person can look after their children while the other can enjoy their date with the children. There is a variety of farmhouse items like jams, classic sweets and kitchen utensils. Frozen soups and meals can be purchased at a very affordable price and they are definitely worth it

This shop is situated in 82 Market Street. There are ample parking spaces. There are also wheelchair parking facilities. The shop is adjacent to Clicks pharmacy. Covid19 protocols are adhered to at both access points. There are wheelchair entrances on both sides. With my last visit there were no crowding. Both cash and card payments are accepted. In spite of being very busy, the shop was neat. Customers get prompt service. I rate it (5) five stars.

Shoprite has a large variety of products and undoubtedly can suffice as a one stop shop for all your grocery needs. The shop is not always clean and the many till points are not always open so there is often a queue to checkout and more often than not the wait time is rather long. Staff are friendly and helpful

Nicely situated in a busy location. You wouldn't easily see or find it if you have not looked on search engines.
Most of the people who vist have been there before, just bumped up with it. The entrance is more in an open busy passage between joubert and market Street. Most of the customers buys there on their way to their to the taxi rank.
