Richmondshire Museum

Plenty of very interesting artefacts on local dales history, but all rather tired and dated. Some rooms rather jumbled. Volunteer did not know how kids quiz worked.

What a hidden gem. So we'll laid out and so much packed in. Great to take the kids to, lots for them to do as they walked around.

Delightful small museum covering a lot of history in Swaledale. There is an admission charge which in my opinion was worth it.

What a gem!! Perfect little museum. Interesting, nicely laid out, easy to enjoy. Something for everyone. Will definitely return with the grandchildren next holidays. Thank you.

Such a hidden gem. Although we haved loved in Richmond for well over 10 years we had never actually been to the museum. What we missed out on was a place to find out about the local area through the ages. Right back to 1066 to present day.
I personally like seeing photos of buildings that you can still see today, being able to see the actual history of the building makes it come alive.

So don't miss this hidden gem just off Frenchgate or if you come the other way just turn left at Calvert's Carpets.

Brilliant little museum!
We learned a lot about old rural history and the history of the area.

Can't award any higher as, though it was advertised as being open and was meant to be open, it wasn't. It was locked shut. Very disappointing. I understand that they are dependent on volunteers for staffing, but nevertheless, always a let down when opening hours vary on such a random, ad hoc basis, and Richmond is a hilly lil town to get around to boot. Shame.....
