Super little place, a reet haven in Liskeard. Free to visit. The most lovely, warm, welcoming staff. Reception; gift shop selling lovely things; equally lovely crafts also being sold in another room; loos; idyllic colourful utopia of a garden at the rear with fountain and small pond; exhibitions with plenty of information boards; loads re the Civil War and Sealed Knot; quaint old building; and... saving best bit to the end.... super doops caff with some additional seating out in the Elyssian garden. Extremely competitively priced, oh OK then, drinks and cakes are a bargain to be had, all homemade and yummy. I could have eaten any or all of them but plumped for the saffron cake, partly because I know saffron is über pricey and I had never had it before, but also because of its glorious colour. It did not disappoint. Saturdays tis only drinks and cakes, but otherwise they also do soup. If in Liskeard do drop in. It's super.

Marvelous! Superb artistic murals on the pillars of the underpass. I rounded the corner from Upper Gardens and there were all these glorious, colourful artworks. What a treat and pleasure. From a huge bluebottle to Carpé Diem and Standing On the Shoulders Of Giants. Brilliant! Brightened my already fabulous day no end. Highly recommended to those who like art. Free too, bonus.

Large branch with a good little café on the first floor. Shop does have a customer lift. Pleasant, friendly staff. Met the rather wonderful Kevin Sinfield at his book signing session. What a lovely, genuine and very special person this man is. Both he and Rob Burrows are heroes and leading lights. We need more souls like Kev and Rob in this battered, old world, what a utopia that would be. Thank you, Sir Kev, for all that you do and are. And Waterstones are OK too!

Very good team of hardworking staff, all beavering away very efficiently on a hot day. Prompt service. Friendly and helpful. I had a Lancashire cheese cold sandwich platter and a fruit scone. Great sarnie with lots of lovely proper cheese in. Scone was a bit of a small, runt shaped one but it was all good. Gets very busy but it doesn't affect the pleasant service you receive. I wouldn't want to work in a hot cabin on a steamy hot busy day, so all the staff did really well. Also sells consumables, mugs, teatowels etc. Plenty of outdoor seating and there's picnic tables by the stream too. Loo block just opposite. Car park which costs just £3 for 3+ hours. I would revisit when in the area as it was good service and food was reasonably priced too.
Was certainly a bracing walk out along to this lighthouse today, barely a handful of folk braving it in the biting cold wind. Worth it for the views of all Scarborough and its harbour has to offer, from the Grand Hotel to the Castle and to St Mary's. There is also the graceful Diving Belle sculpture here at the foot of the lighthouse, facing out to sea. She is one of a pair of sculptures, the other partner one is over on North Bay and is called the Bathing Belle. You also have the 1914 Vickers gun here close to the lighthouse. The gun was raised in 1982 from the S S Hornsund wreck which was torpedoed on 23 September 1917. Lighthouse was not open when I visited.
