We visited on a weekday and had a fabulous experience seeing the mission, visiting the church, and talking to Ranger Maggie who made us laugh with her tales. Also Deacon Albert and Mateo made the experience all that much more memorable. As you walk into the church there will a crucifix to the right of the altar. The cloth that covers Jesus’s loin is a relic from St. John Paul the 2nd. The fabric is from one of his t-shirts that he left for the church in Espada. The rosary garden is heart shaped and very peaceful. It was fun to speak with the locals and pleasant to see how friendly, helpful, and responsive they are. This made the visit to Espada special. We were invited to attend their ceremony this Saturday morning. It was indeed an experience we will always remember. There’s no fee to enter. Plenty of parking.

The mission church is absolutely beautiful, the rest of the complex is in ruins. There was a wedding going on while I was there so I had to wait a while to get a look inside the church

This is a marvelous place to visit. This is our third visit in 3 years. It is especially pleasant to visit on a Sunday morning when no one is around for great pictures. It is also nice to visit when the gift shop is open . I prefer this gift shop to the other missions.

Parked here and rode the bikes 5 miles up the River trail to Mission San Jose and back. Nice ride!!! Didn't know the San Antonio River looked so nice south of downtown. Lots of ducks and parks for picnics and cookouts. Checked out 3 missions on the ride.

The grounds were clean and beautiful. There's a covered picnic area just around the corner, too. Loved the signs and learning about the missions in the area. Theres even a 3D model that shows you where each buildings remains are as well as what they were.

Enjoyed visiting the second of the four Mission parks, following the history of this area. We skip the trails for the gift shop because it was much cooler lol.

Probably the most rustic of the mall. But the cathedral is so small and so cute. It was my favorite church out of the five missions. A must see.
