The Hong Kong

Worst first Boston experience. I have seen some other reviews regarding this establishment that they are racist, homophobic, and rude. After our experience, all were true. We were lured in with Jell-O shots and karaoke only to be slapped in the face with “policies” that are definitely targeted toward gay and black individuals. Absolutely DO NOT visit. So many other bars to explore.

Fun bar with great music, drinks and specials. After the Black Rose were incredibly rude to our party, The Hong Kong was incredibly welcoming and we had a fun night here. Highly recommend coming here instead on your night out.

Do not try and order a scorpion bowl here. I was accused of lying multiple times about who I came with and who I knew? I hadn’t even been in the bar for 5 minutes. Never had a bartender speak like that. I understand if you have rules about how you can serve large amounts of alcohol, but when a server says “you’re lying”?? Then talks about customers with coworkers in front of them? My experience was beyond poor customer service.

What an amazing karaoke bar! We visited 3 different times while we were in town. It was definitely our favorite place to go. Great atmosphere, good prices, delicious food! Huge selection of music for karaoke! Ted, the doorman was great! Couldn't have asked for a better time. If you're looking for a great karaoke bar, this is a must!!

This place was so odd. They heckled us to try to come into the bar and try Jell-O shots. After long consideration, we decided to go to their bar. Once we were in line, they decided to inform us that our male friend who was wearing a muscle tee, could not come in without sleeves, while all us women were wearing tank tops.

Our friend is also gay and we took it as a potentially discriminatory and uncomfortable rule as he was dressed very nicely, just in a manner that straight men might not, so we left. Coming from Minnesota and not receiving this treatment there was unappealing to say the least.

Drinks were decent but the karaoke was terrible. The woman who ran it was outstanding but you literally couldn't turn up the mic to hear anything and it was a muffled mess.

I'd recommend they look into adjusting that considering my buddies and I love to sing.

Teriyaki chicken was delicious, very friendly atmosphere, Jell-O shots we loved, karaoke was perfect and the drinks was amazing. ESP the big bowl lol. Not sure what it’s called but I will post a picture

This a must visit when in Boston. It offers drinks, food, and karaoke. Diverse crowd- from College students to out of town tourist. The menu offerings are short, but the teriyaki girl walks around offering chicken on a stick for $1. DELICIOUS! Try the house fried rice- flavorful, plenty of protein and a portion sufficient to feed two. I’ve rated it a 4 star only because there is limited seating. A hiding 💎 in Boston’s Faneuil Hall. Enjoy!
