I've done several tours with Mark of New York Walking Tours. The last was to a section of Manhattan's Lower East Side, an area I had never been to and didn't even know it existed. We started out with great (and inexpensive) Dim Sum in a real, non-commercial Chinese area. We had a pleasant walk to the east through a surprisingly quiet and peaceful area of lower Manhattan. We got a tour of the historic Eldrige St. Synagogue, built in the 19th century and fairly recently restored. Walked on to the area of the Henry Street Settlement. Mark was knowledgeable about the history of both locations. He is a friendly, down to earth person with lots of knowledge about NYC. Mark is particularly well-versed in the architectural history of New York. Hoping to take his Upper Harlem tour at some point.
