Had a wonderful Emirati brunch at Arabian Tea House before an afternoon flight.

This place is easily accessible from the airport via. the Dubai Metro.

Deemed to have been built around the 1950s, this place existed when Dubai was still a desert and this was the only quarter on the vast Arabian desert- before Sheikh Rashid’s grand dream of creating Dubai into a modern metropolis! The buildings were constructed using the coral rocks from the sea which one can still see from the picture attached of a section of the wall. Being a desert, the buildings needed cooling and ventilation and the tall structures helped filter the sand and bring in coolness to the buildings.

Some of the customary structures are still preserved here such as the large doorways with a small opening for men, where they had to stoop to enter the house, thus preventing any eye contact with the female inhabitants. There is a coins museum within the complex which houses coins from Arabian civilisation dating back to 3000 years. We couldn’t see the place unfortunately as it closes at 2.30pm.

It’s a small area affording easy walk through but replete with interesting trivia and old Arabian culture in Dubai. It’s good to book a walking tour in advance.

It’s great to get a feel how life used to be in Dubai before the oil rush and construction! You get a sense of how people used to live here. Very clean and presentable! I recommend it!

Best place in dubai to get some good feel it is more like Venice City based on sea. Somewhat giving the same feel if you seen it. Every photo i clicked I loved it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ strongly recommended for everyone who's visiting dubai must visit this. And it is absolutely free to roam any part of it.

We had lunch at the Arabian Tea house which is a must. You can't book as they only do walk ins.cross the road and head towards the old buildings. It was nice to walk around and look at the shops. Definitely worth doing as something different and a change of scenery. There is also the museum of illusions to do too. There is a Starbucks as you walk further along.

The heritage quarter is located on the bank of the Dubai Creek, accessible either by boat or in my case, a less than 10-minutes walk from the nearby metro station. The buildings are in great condition after the restoration project. Stroll along its narrow path and maze to marvel at its architecture. Several buildings are open for a visit, either as a museum or gallery.

It's a beautiful place and looks almost like a film set. In my opinion, not recommended during the day, in the August heat as it's not very busy and it's too hot to enjoy the shops and restaurants. Sadly lots of people come here for their Starbucks pics for Insta.
