The two rangers at the booth were very helpful and friendly. I was lucky to go at a time of day when they could share some details and highlights with me without holding up traffic. I appreciated their personalities and knowledge.

As for the park, what a wonderful time to go. I felt like I had the place to myself and was able to stroll down the mostly level trails, climb some rocks, and enjoy some beautiful history as well as nature. It was a very peaceful walk and with 15 miles of trails, it was quiet and perfect to walk with a jacket on this time of year. I'd take the less people, cooler weather experience any day. Go check this place out and hopefully the visitors center will be up and running again to offer even more excitement. Some of the signs are getting hard to read and would benefit from some updating soon but I was able to read most of it. The first overlook also has a nice ramp down to it in good condition for wheelchairs and strollers to make the trek.

Great Falls Park is a picturesque gem, offering a breathtaking overlook of the Potomac River and the scenic panorama of Maryland state. The well-maintained trail paths provide an enjoyable exploration of the park's natural beauty. It's not just a place for scenic views; families can relish in the joy of barbecues and outdoor fun. With its combination of stunning landscapes and family-friendly amenities, Great Falls Park stands out as an ideal destination for both nature enthusiasts and those seeking a relaxed, enjoyable day outdoors.

We went on Veterans Day (Saturday) and I must say, great place for a hike! The outlooks are close to the parking, and the river trail does loop around if you take the inner trail coming back near Sandy landing. Well worth it to visit, there were a few rock climbers, plenty of people and dogs, but not overly crowded. There was enough space for anyone that wanted to look over the ridge. Keep in mind though, it's $20 entry normally per vehicle unless you have a pass.

Great Falls Park in Virginia is an absolute gem! The natural beauty and scenic vistas here are unparalleled. Whether you're into hiking, picnicking, or just taking in breathtaking views of the Potomac River and cascading waterfalls, this park has it all. The well-maintained trails provide an excellent opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to connect with nature, and the visitor center offers informative exhibits. It's a fantastic destination for a day trip or a weekend adventure, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a rejuvenating and awe-inspiring outdoor experience.

One of the popular parks in VA. $20 for daily pass and $35 for Great Falls annual pass. The annual pass is worth it if you plan on visiting more than once. Very limited mobile connectivity in the area so plan accordingly. A great place to hike, walk, rock-climb, kayak, picnic. Parking available and is only accessible by car. Dog friendly, in case you have any.

Love this place! Every time I turn around my wife and I are finding new hidden gems inside the park. Great hiking trails, running trails with the dogs, you name it! No filters needed on ANY of you our pictures. It’s $20 for one time entry or $35 for an annual pass. Spring for the pass, you’ll want to come back and see what all this place has to offer.

Wonderful compact park right outside of dc. The network of hiking trails is impressive, with views of the Potomac and the falls, the ruins of the old canal, and a settlement here. We were here when the leaves were changing, which added to the charm. Trails vary from easy to strenuous. Entry is $20 per car, $35 for an annual pass, which makes sense if you plan to visit more than once. The picnic area is beautiful and impressively large. Parking is tight, and it can get crowded, so plan to come early. There are some concessions at the visitors' center and good bathrooms. Kayaking and climbing are available, so we will have to go back.
