Free admission to the top. It is a very long hike up. My overweight boyfriend almost didn't make it. Lol. So if you go up, prepare for a hike up.

Great museum! And the gift shop gifts are mostly (maybe all [?]) made in the US!

The museum is free, and has information on the famous fight itself, as well as an intricate diorama with an audio track explaining the fight.
There are authentic artifacts on display from the battle itself, including a real British marching drum.

The diorama is highly detailed and it shows why the fight was able ot occur at all: this was pasture country (just like the pastures in the UK) and there were already walls built presumably to prevent the animals from wandering away.
Thus, when the colonials fortified a position overnight, the position became very difficult to take from the British perspective.
Add to that disastrous street fighting in Charleston itself and the colonials' tendencies to snipe the well-trained officers... And you have the pyrrhic victory for the British. I don't even know if you could call it victory since the siege was still maintained.

On the corner opposite the Monument, the museum itself is set over two floors. It covers the history of the battle alongside the wider context of the time. I found it really interesting, especially the diorama with audio description! Some artifacts are covered up to protect them from the light so don't forget to take a look! There's a shop in the entryway and restrooms on the lower floor!

Give yourself the fun challenge. 294 stairs seems like nothing logically...but it is definitely something! šŸ¤£ My legs are still shaking!

Fantastic free museum run by NPS (National Park Service) and a small but detailed deep dive in to US history with a balanced perspective as well as clear timelines of Boston and it's roots.

Only 2 floors with 1 exhibit per room but it wasn't very crowded and the upstairs model showing the battlefield on a scale model with lights and narration that detail the events make it much more clear how the initial battle was fought and what took place.

Don't forget to check out the memorial nearby and make sure to climb the steps to the top to see a very unique view of Boston.

Great spot to learn about one of the important early battles in the revolutionary war. It is just across the street from the obelisk.

There are displays about the battle (including a detailed diorama that has audio narration of the battle and lights highlighting the areas as the story pregresses), the historical context leading up to the war, and the history of the Monument and the Charlestown area.

The museum has junior ranger books and the national park stamp.

went this weekend while visiting boston with family and had fun! the museum is very nice and informative, you can learn a lot that you didnā€™t learn in school; there is also a small visual representation where you hear an audio and see where each event took place! i believe there was a drawing station before covid but there are some drawings; unfortunately we didnā€™t walk up the monument since it had snowed the day before. would recommend for people into american history and itā€™s free šŸ˜
