This review is about the Taoyuan MRT line to Taipei Main station. It costs 150NT$ all the way to TMS and it just takes so freaking long. It takes 45 minutes, uncomfortable seats and not much space for luggage. Its also a lot of walking from within the terminal and at the final destination. In 45m I could go all the way to Keelung with the bus. I do recommend the bus though, they are slightly cheaper, right in front of the terminal and super comfortable. When you arrive at 7am in the morning, believe me relaxing chair in the bus is 10x better than this stupid MRT. They should have integrated the HSR into the airport, the HSR brings you for the same amount to Taipei Main Station in 20 minutes.

Be careful- check in staff will tell you that their scales remove the weight of the tray, but this is untrue. Weigh your luggage yourself before check-in. They will quote the price in US dollars but charge you in NTD with a mark-up. They will not give you a 發票. In General so impressed with the honesty of the Taiwanese, very disappointed to see so many scams at the airport.

The new immigration electronic gates are nifty. If you happen to be an ARC holder, you can simply use that to scan in instead of your passport but keep your passport handy if things don't work out, I encountered an issue with my ARC for departure, so they still have regular staff to get you checked in through the immigration if problem arises with the electronic gates.

This terminal really feels like a low budget terminal, even though some major airlines depart / arrive here.

- there’s extremely little shopping
- there’s no priority pass lounge. Two coffee shops (which are always way too busy) apparently offer free foods and drinks to priority card members. However, I always encounter problems with my card there and never received the free items.
- very few toilets

You can buy token for one time ticket or easy card to travel to Taipei center. Costs 150 twd to go from here to Taipei main station. The easy card vending machine only sell card with 400 twd value but no change given, can buy only 1 card at one time - it means you have to have a 500 twd bill or 5 100twd bills to buy easy card from this machine.

Took the express train from Taipei Station to Terminal 1. Whole ride took 40minutes, so fast! Trains are clean and departed on time. So easy to get to the airport!
