La Candelaria, Medellin

Downtown zone La Candelaria is home to Plaza Botero, named for the Colombian artist. Several of his characteristically rotund sculptures stand in the square, with more works on show at the nearby Antioquia Museum. Shops, cafes, and flower sellers line Junín Street, in the shade of the needlelike Coltejer skyscraper. The sensory gardens at Pies Descalzos Park combine interactive art, fountains, and a bamboo forest.
