stayed here last year based on the proximity and views of the white house. was under the impression that the top floor was open to hotels guests but unfortunetly it is only used for events. historic and great hotel non the less, could not even begin to imagine all world leaders that have stayed here.

I have to say, the service was impeccable. We stayed at the Willard and the ritz this trip, and we both agreed this was by far the best. The concierge was top notch, and they were so attentive to every need/request.

The location is central to everything near the White House, and the room was on point… just a great ambiance.

The ONLY snafu was with an accidental slip of the tongue by one of the staff lol. I had gotten the perfect proposal package, and was planning on proposing. We went to confirm our dinner reservation that evening, and the hostess did not see my gf behind me, and said “you are all set for tonight’s dinner with the perfect proposal package.” My gf heard the remark…and you can imagine how that went lol. The staff member clearly felt horrible, but it is what it is. So I put a rain check on the proposal lol.

Other than that, a great experience and they truly embody the definition of 5 star service.

My wife and I arrived for our first visit to the Hay-Adams yesterday. They must have run out of rooms because we were given two twin beds. I have traveled all around the world and have seen two queen beds in hotel rooms many times, but never two twins. They did not ask if twin beds would be acceptable, but provided the room to us as though it was what we booked. When I asked why we had twin beds, the front desk said that must be what I chose when I booked online. Last night felt more more like staying in a college dorm than a luxury hotel. The bathrooms are old and outdated with peeling wallpaper, and we slept separately on undersized beds built for someone at least six inches shorter than me. They did correct this for our second night stay, but I would give this warning to anyone booking here: you can choose a type of room when reserving online - e.g. Deluxe Room - but not it’s configuration. If you want to ensure you don’t end up with dorm room beds, I would call in your reservation instead of using the website. My lesson: I should have gone to the Willard.

My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon, and there was attention to detail in everything. If you need to pamper yourself (everyone needs to sometime), THIS is the place to go. This is the best hotel experience I've ever had. I highly recommend it.

Clean rooms. Stunning view of the White House right outside the window. Spotless bathrooms all throughout the hotel. The bouquet of flowers in the middle of the room added to the experience. Helpful staff that were always glad to assist us when we needed them! I reccomened it.

Historic building very, very beautiful. The restaurant for the breakfast transpond you in another world! The staff very helpfull even a little bit tough. The rooms was beautiful, bathroom small but enough; the only deficency was a light bad smell in the room: remember us that we are talking history! Nevertheless the only more central location is the White House.
