Great place to dine, the oldest restaurant in Coburg.

Really nice restaurant. I took the meat Salad (surprisingly good ) and steak ! Book ahead and if the weather is good book a tafel in the hidden garden.

Simply one of the finest if not the finest restaurant in Coburg. The building has a long history as well. I had the Coburger Wurst, dumplings and sauerkraut (all were superb). The beirgarten was a great atmosphere and of course the company we were with (a local family), made for a very memorable evening.

As a large group of 20 the restaurant handled us really well. The food was tasty, and dessert was delicious. However the main reason i would return is the House-Beer. It was absolutely delicious and they had it available in regular and light form. I heard some american English speakers around me so i think it's definitely a good place for tourists to go.

My wife and I had the pleasure of having dinner with a German Professor of Coburg University at this lovely and historic restaurant known as Restaurant Goldenes Kreuz (meaning, Golden Cross). We learned that this is one of the best in Germany. Established in 1508, the restaurant is the oldest building in downtown of Coburg. It serves the authentic taste of regional Franconian cuisine. “Traditional. Modern. Franconian” is its motto. The dishes we had was one of the best Franconian cuisines we ever tasted. The dessert “Home-made Coburg dumpling” was delicious and one-of-a-kind. If you ever get a chance to dine there, you will for certain enjoy its historic atmosphere of Franconian tradition. Oh, please don’t forget to try its home-made beer Kreuzrunk, which is very fresh and a pleasure to taste. If you have never visited Coburg. It is a very lovely , peaceful small town with a population of approx., 40,000. It is located on the Itz river in the Upper Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. Since the town literally survived from bombings during World War II, it has many of the same historic buildings, such as the Veste Coburg, one of Germany's largest castles.

The very best location for regional, traditional and quality food in the centre of Coburg! No doubt - it's your duty to go there. And don't hesitate to order the 'Kreuztrunk'!

I think this Is the best place for dinner

It offers mainly traditional German cusine but with bit of smart modern touch. They also usually offer seasonal menus, that changes regularly, keeping the interest. But their attempt to go out of their usual comfort zone into other European dishes can come below their usual standard. I once tried their ''bouillabaisse" from the seasonal offer; it wasn't bouillabaisse but several fish fillets dipped in salty and blend broth.
Nevertheless this is one of more interesting and reliable place to try in Coburg.
