Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa

I'm a 53 year old retired firefighter/paramedic with my Masters Degree. I'm now a successful entrepreneur. I'm married and have been with the same woman for 22 years. We live on 164 wooded acres with 10km of private trails, 3 horses, 5 dogs, 7 canoes and a bunch of mountain bikes and other outdoor gear. I lived in Colorado and Guyana for awhile where I worked with at risk youth. I feel like I'd be a "better than average" role model and mentor. But my application won't even be considered because this organization feels I live a bit too far outside the city limits. Maybe Big Brothers has more volunteers than they need? But if not they are depriving some kid of an incredible opportunity based on some no-logic, random rule. I hate bureaucracy....

Great organization!

Was here to it their sports fields and it was great for that.
