Really nice little part of ottawas geological history.

Great place to take a hike in the city.

Loved this unique place for all ages. Bring a towel to wipe the sand of your toes. Great trails, good intro for mountain biking.

Who knew the City of Ottawa has deserts in it? Sort of. The trails are a bit all over the place, but the forest is lovely and the dunes are fascinating. We drove out there to look around when my wife spotted the sandy patches on Google Maps. Worth a look if you like nature and hiking. I hope to go back in June or July to see the wildlife (insects) that enjoy the dunes.

Unique, interesting, and fascinating spot. It is small but has nice trails and surrounding forest. Kids enjoy playing in the sand!

The sand dunes are pleasantly unexpected and a different habitat. A large portion of the dunes are innacessible because it is protected. The trails around the sand dunes are short and a little over grown but they are a nice walk.

Amazing and unique surprise. Never did I expect to stumble across sand dunes in a forest in a city but here we are with Pinhey sand dunes. I would definitely recommend going at least once as it is a sight to behold. I would also recommend bringing lots of water as the temperature can get very hot in the summer.
