I LOVE The Freeman Studio. It's a safe place for actors to come together, grow in their craft, and be inspired. The teachers are wonderful and have a way of nurturing your artistry tailored to every individual student. In addition, they provide you with the tools necessary for modern-day actors to flourish and thrive. Thank you Freeman Studio

The Freeman Studio is one of the best investments I've made as a working actor. Full of professional performers, incomparable intellect, and guidance that is kind, informed, and designed to challenge the actor to honor the script/play. If you need a place to sharpen your instrument or work on specific type/character, this is a wonderful studio that understands the artistry and process deeply.

I have been taking classes at the Freeman Studio for a couple years now and recently started taking the online acting classes during the pandemic. I highly recommend the Freeman Studio to any actor looking for a welcoming environment to create, explore and hone their skills (especially right now when creative spaces are far and few between). I was in search of my acting "home" for a long time and this studio was a breath of fresh air. The teachers are amazing - professional, kind, talented and extremely insightful. Some of them are working actors as well, which I find beneficial. The actors that take classes are some of my favorite artists I have met in the city. Everyone has been nothing short of compassionate and encouraging to each other. Not to mention talented and hardworking. The online classes are totally worth it too. You really can play and connect with a scene partner on zoom. Who knew! I'm going to keep taking zoom classes until we can meet in person again. Everyone who works at the studio is very communicative as well.

Simply put, becoming a member of The Freeman Studio has been the best thing I have ever done for my acting career. From scene study with Scott to on-camera audition classes with Vance, I have been able to grow as an actress and an artist exponentially under their knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging teaching. By taking classes regularly and having the freedom to take risks without judgement or fear, I have developed a confidence and belief in my own work that I now know is crucial to tap into, whether auditioning or on a job . And because the level of talent and work ethic among the other studio members is so high, I find I learn as much from watching the other students work as I do when performing my own scene or mock audition. I also must express my gratitude to Scott and faculty for maintaining the same level of care and expertise in their online classes while in person classes are paused due to the pandemic. Being able to continue to work and grow under these tumultuous and frightening circumstances has been paramount in maintaining my practice, my mental well-being, and hope for the future. I cannot recommend Scott and The Freeman Studio highly enough!

I think I can safely say the Freeman Studio is one of the most nurturing artistic environments I’ve ever been apart of. It’s no secret that this time has been extremely scary for people in the entertainment industry and we are all looking for new ways of moving forward and continuing to create. Switching over to online classes has been a breeze - it is wonderful to be back with the familiar faces of fellow actors and theatre artists alike who know that the work is just as important now more than ever. My time at this studio has consistently shown me that there is a community of skilled teachers and supportive artists who are constantly around the corner (or now behind the computer screen!) to facilitate and challenge my growth as an actor.

The freeman studio has been a savior for me during this pandemic. Scott’s online scene study class has given me a place to feel free and inspired during these unprecedented times.
Working and creating with incredibly talented and hardworking actors on a weekly basis has helped build my confidence as an actor and keeps me feeling “fresh” for auditions that have come in.
I’ve been taking classes with Scott for nearly two years now and I cannot say enough about him. The level of care, his knowledge and intuition has helped me grow as an actor and person.

Since moving to NY 3 years ago it's taken a long time to find the right acting studio. I've been studying with Scott for 9 months now and I can officially say it was worth the wait to find the place I truly belong. I had never felt more confident and challenged as an actor until I met Scott. The Freeman Studio not only provides impeccable training from the staff but a supportive and motivating working environment. You can count on each student and faculty member to serve as a mentor, even now in the online platform. The studio has figured out a way during the pandemic to maintain their level of training on Zoom. Scene Study with Scott and a weekly audition workshop with casting director Jack Doulin have helped me to stay focused and continue growing as an artist during this whirlwind of a time. It has been incredibly encouraging to have a community to turn to and be reassured that real, genuine connection is possible, even through the lens of a computer.

I'm a graduate of a top MFA acting program and was referred to Scott as one of the few best ongoing professional Scene Study teachers in NYC. He lives up to this entirely. He's quite simply one of the best teachers with whom I've ever had the pleasure of working. His own acting training and his proven track record as a consummate educator/studio head make him indispensable; he knows how to challenge working professionals. Scott knows EXACTLY how to talk to actors - and actors of different levels, at that. The Freeman Studio has become my artistic home of sorts and a treasured community post grad school, a place where I can stay sharp when I don't have gigs (or even while I do!)

*At first I was a little wary when things went online at the outset of the pandemic, but I've continued to take class on Zoom for a good chunk of the last six months. Scott's work on Zoom is intimate (the slightly smaller classes have actually been a pretty delightful element - sometimes it feels like a repertory company) and his scenes are always well-chosen in terms of variety one cycle to the next. It's really a sort of balm in the middle of the current global anxiety (particularly about the industry's return.) It's very, very close to the experience you have working in the studio, and I highly recommend it.*
