As usual - food was down to earth and flavourful. Service was attentive & efficient. Place was slightly crowded & a bit noisy, but bearable.

We had the set lunch which satisfied our choices & was filling. The poached pear in red wine was a tad ‘dry’. The steak was seasoned & done really well.

A favourite ‘go to’ place with good friends, family & colleagues.

A meal at BDV is like coming home, and very often a comforting one - from the friendly service to consistent food quality. Some reviewers seem to expect warm toasty bread and full linen service, but hey it’s a bistro. Enjoy the French butter and live a little!

The menu is big enough to cater to a table of diverse preferences and dietary requirements, but do try the specials if you can. And if you like potatoes, this is THE place to have it in any form- mash, fries or crispy baked baby potatoes.

I recently went for lunch with some friends and found the 3-course set menu a really great deal. The artichoke soup and lobster-based bouillabaisse with pilaf were exactly what I needed on a cool, rainy Sat afternoon. My friends enjoyed their duck confit and roast pork dish.

Another regular fave is the soufflé so try to save some space for it!

Service is great because unlike many newer establishments, Philippe and many of his staff are seasoned faces in the service industry. But please be patient and kind when they’re full house - the F&B industry is still not at 100% staffing 🙏🏻

Ordered two starter, six main course and two dessert. Average 85 per pax.
The bread basket normal: bread is kinda hard and butter not aromtic.
Foie gras is good. Texture good but unluckily sauce missed the spot a bit.
Beef tartar kinda normal. Average beef with good bread.
Beef Wellington is good. Beef well seasoned and juicy inside, while the baking sheet a bit soggy and not super crispy. It would be great if we have it crispy outside and juicy inside. Anyway it is good and super affordable given it is a tedious work to make beef wellington.
The duck confit is above average and not bad. Can taste the umami from the flavourful and tender duck meat. The duck skin is crispy too. However, the sauce is overwhelming sweet and lacking in the sourness to make it refreshing.
The Coq au vin is good. Chicken well seasoned and still tender. Seems the chef adds some pork and it really elevate the whole dish.
Scallop normal. Full of small scallop but some are with odour. Sausage with lentil and herbs normal: too salty but the texture are still good. Stew not bad.
For the two dessert, soufflé above average and apple tart with ice cream not bad.
Service overall up to standard and vibe positive.
Overall, it is a good bistro serving some good French dishes. Foie gras, beef Wellington and coq Au vin recommended.
Rmb to reserve a seat in advance cos it is super popular.

Food quality was rather disappointing. If bread can be served so hard, what else can customer expect from the rest of the dishes.
Pork loin was tough and had no veg. Mushroom soup tasted nothing like mushroom. Mussels were fresh but too salty and small. Escargots were too salty too. Duck confit was quite tender. Steak was tender but lacking in presentation. Staff were attentive. During reservation, I indicated that it’s a friend birthday but there wasn’t any complimentary dessert or wishes on the dessert plate. On a whole, 3 of us were disappointed with the experience. Wont consider coming back.

Great food. Love my puff pastry with duck breast! Other dishes are great too. My friends love all their main dishes too. Will definitely come back :)

They serve utterly good onion soup but the service is rather disappointing. Did not intend to make an issue but my partner has casually mentioned I have burnt my arm. The response we received left us in rather regret having it mentioned about it.This sounds most basic of service but there shall be a mindful notice when hot plating is served.

For review researchers - Onion soup is baking hot right out from the oven. Be warned :)

Delicious food. Nice environment and good service. The grilled pork rack was delicious! The meat was lean yet tender. The rib eye steak was good but a tad too salty.

Was lunch there on Wednesday. Expect to see less crowd since is the mid of the week , who knows they are full house throughout lunch period. Luckily we made reservation in advance.
We’ve opt for $45++ 3 course set lunch, each of us ordered different dish.
Except the poached grouper taste so so and they serve ONE piece cheese as The cheese of the day’s dessert that looks so minimalist , the whole lunch experience was great, cozy ambience, service staffs are attentive in just right way.
They serve good wine too.
