Flat Iron Covent Garden

Like all of the best restaurants, Flat Iron has chosen to do one thing and do it incredibly well.
The steak was melt in your mouth good, service was great and there was no waiting for food.
The sauces accompanied the steak perfectly, however, the steak was so tender, well cooked and perfectly seasoned I found myself enjoying it just as much without the sauce.
If you like steak this is a must in London.

This restaurant is based in Covent Garden, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice, it has a good vide. There is seating upstairs and downstairs. The food was delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were very tasty. The restaurant also offers a free ice cream for everyone who eats at the restaurant. staff were friendly. I would recommend visiting this restaurant.

A really good atmosphere in a buzzing busy restaurant in the heart of London. This restaurant has a very simple menu which doesn't do any starters. Some might like that some might not. I was more than happy to dive straight into the main meal. Steak cooked to order and a really quick service too. The old fashioned cocktail was superb. We ordered a tomahawk to share which was a special steak of the day/week. Good value for money. With such a simple menu I probably won't rush to go back unless I just happen to be passing and fancy a bit of steak.

My partner had suffered a family bereavement on the week of his birthday. I wasn’t sure if he would be up for celebrating so didn’t book anything. On the day, we decided to go for food. His favourite is wagyu steak. I searched and Flat Iron came up but didn’t have any availability, as you can imagine it was very last minute. I set my heart on going and contacted them on their online chat to see what they could do they managed to squeeze us in on a table.

Firstly, my experience with their customer service, then speaking to the manager, Jake, of Covent Garden branch that I was directed to, was superb. Not only did they accommodate us but they shared condolences, understood what I was trying to achieve and even threw in some witty jokes for good measure.

Then, we get to the restaurant, I’m already impressed at this point. We checked in and barely waited 2 minutes. We sat by the bar as the table was prepared and every single employee to pass us greeted us with a smile and checked on us. That’s impressive. We get seated by lovely employees. Later, we meet the manager. What a professional, humble and kind man. He came to the table and personally expressed his condolences to my partner and personally wished him a happy birthday. It’s really rare to meet nice people these days and we were so impressed, it meant a lot to us.

So, customer service and the restaurant service was impeccable. Now the food! Well, the sides are divine. We are multiple portions of the mash and vezuvian tomatoes and spinach. Absolutely stunning. We also had the Wagyu. Oh my gosh. We’ve eaten a5 wagyu at Michelin star restaurants and I have no idea how Flat Iron delivered such exceptional food at such an affordable price point.

We finished with a delicious ice cream which is free of charge - the little flat iron token that you are given during your meal to redeem on your way out was a cute touch. I also enjoyed walking around with my ice cream after the meal, it just adds to the experience. We spoke to the lady serving our ice cream about Flat Iron and she sung their praises in a genuine way about how the branch is run, its ethos and ethics. She was genuinely so happy to be part of the team.

So, customer service, restaurant experience, food quality and price are all exceptional. You would think that it can’t get better, right?

Wrong! we did some digging and learned that not only do Flat Iron prioritise sustainability and partner with organisations to prevent food wastage and hunger but they have their own Flat Iron Fund which supports an array of charities.

I really can’t see why you wouldn’t want to eat here, enjoy the customer experience or contribute to their great causes.

I definitely haven’t done this branch the justice they deserve in this review but I don’t want to go on. We have now eaten in multiple Flat Iron venues and enjoy being surprised by which ice cream we will get at the end and have a collection of flat iron cleavers at home.

We visited at 5pm and there was no wait to get a table. I ordered a medium steak which I would say was more medium rare but that’s okay. The steak was delicious and the perfect size, very reasonably priced. The mashed potatoes was extremely delicious and definitely worth ordering. I wouldn’t recommend getting sauces with your steak; we ordered the peppercorn and bearnaise sauces which weren’t the best. A 12.5% gratuity is included in the bill. After your meal you can get free ice cream on the way out which is a nice surprise.

This place is truly wonderful! Although there's a wait in line, it's absolutely worth it. The steaks, wine, and sides, especially the salad, truffle Mac 'n Cheese, and potatoes were all incredibly delicious. The staff was exceptionally helpful with the order. Highly recommended for a delightful dining experience!

So good we had it back to back nights. If you do not have a reservation you can get in on a weekday but showing up before 6. You get to snack on some popcorn before you order. Highly recommend the flat iron steak of course but also the truffle Mac and garlic mash. The service is friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself it’s trendy and comfortable. Also you get salted caramel ice cream with your meal on your way out, what a lovely touch. This will be my go to recommendation to those traveling and staying in Covent Garden.

Great dining experience! They serve free popcorn at the beginning of your meal, and free ice cream at the end. Nice touch!! Servers were very coordinate and attentive. Food was tasty and good value for money. We ordered a steak and a cheeseburger. We know they’re quite famous for their steaks, but gosh the hamburger was the best - amazing balance of flavors. We will be back for sure!
