The worst bank experience in the UAE. You are better off opening with a bank that is efficient.

If at all you are planning to get services of CITI bank, I will recommend you to rather go for American Express, AMEX card. Both are rival companies but AMEX has much better credentials then CITI bank.

CITI bank will provide lot of features in their credit card. They will keep on giving you response till you are using this card for regular transactions.

But the moment you will come across some dispute with some merchant, they will raise their hands and will not help you at all.

I paid one travel company called Royal Palm Holidays a lot of money through my credit card but they did not provide me service. They cheated. When I raised the dispute with CITI bank, I got a reply that your issue will be solved in 4 days. Later they ask me to show the receipt of refund!

Imagine their intelligence level that if it all I will get refund from the merchant why the hell I will involve bank to get the money back! This I wrote as a counter reply in all their mails but every time to this reply I received another reply "Please show the receipt of refund" and this process continued. Pathetic level of understanding and lazyness to copy paste same reply in all mails.

Today I received another mail that was encrypted and which contained the receipt of my transaction. It had a remark that respond with in 10 days else your case will be closed. That's it! After 5 months of continuous requests and emails they sent me my own receipt of transaction for which I actually raised a dispute!!!!!!

Their customer care is limited to aksing for balance, converting transactions to EMIs, apply for supplementary card or something similar. The moment you will ask for help in case of "non service provider" scenario from some merchant or some similar fraud issue, they will shut their eyes and ears. They will irritate you to the core that you will stop mailing them as you know they will come up with absolute ridiculous reply. Imagine sending me my own transaction receipt as proof and considering it that dispute has been resolved!

They are playing with customes for their own expansion. Don't buy this bank services unless you have no other options

I recently applied for a credit card with Citibank, and I must say, the customer service experience was far from satisfactory. As someone looking to establish a relationship with the bank, this experience left me with a negative impression.

The lack of responsiveness and clarity in the application process was disappointing. I encountered delays, unhelpful responses, and a general lack of professionalism. It made me question whether I want to proceed with Citibank for my financial needs.

I believe that the first interaction with a potential customer is crucial, and it's safe to say that this experience did not reflect well on the bank. I hope that Citibank takes this feedback into account and works on improving its customer service, not only for existing customers but also for those considering their services.

Sadly, negative rating CITI & highly disappointed. I urge all to pay attention while dealing with Bank.
I went to EU on family vacation in Jun-Jul 2023, on first day while travelling in Paris metro rail, someone stolen my wallet in which I was carrying few credit card along with emirates ID. It was my hard luck that the thief used all the cards before I could block them & that also over limit and shocked to see that all transactions happened within few minutes without OTP/PIN. I faced huge financial crisis during my rest of holiday as my credit limit exhausted. Rushed within no time to nearest police station & they issued me incident report (Other than that I could not get any support from Paris police).
I reported the above incident same day immediately to the bank with incident report. Dispute filed to the bank against the fraudulent act happened to me, but bank unfortunately closed the dispute simply concluding I am liable to pay the dues since the card was physically used & the transactions were 3D secured.

Even bank did not consider contacting EU police to dig the matter to rich to the rout cause of the incident, why?
Informed same day to the bank by email, provided Incident report from Paris police & also upon arrival to UAE, tried contacting Abu Dhabi Police & CID but of course they were unable to take the complaint due to jurisdiction/territory issues & limitation, what more can I do?
Can I ask bank where am I wrong in whole incident? I mean losing the card or if someone steals the card is our fault? No; it is bad luck. But being a banker, letter on it becomes your responsibility to protect financial integrity of your product consumer.
Also please answer… How can someone use the card without PIN/OTP? And if used then it becomes the merchant responsibility to clarify the transaction if disputed. Did u consult the merchant? – No.
I received feedback from customer support saying either transaction verified by me, or some POS may not require any OTP/PIN authentication. Really shocked to hear that, I mean really if it its true then where the safety in carrying digital form of currency? Will never use your bank products.
Who can guarantee that carrying physical card cannot be stolen? This can happen with anyone, but it doesn’t mean that who possessed your card can use it unauthorized way. Why bank failed to protect the financial loss?
Its above two months passed now & really; I am in big dilemma- what to do? As I am getting frequent calls from recovery/collection teams to pay off the dues which is apparently not under my liability.
Apart from this incident, I challenge bank If they can track my AECB score where bank will never find me for such finance bug. Yes- always I used to run with positive credit & never ran to debt ever. But this time sorry to say that I am frustrated with bank the way treating me as if I am a criminal. If bank failed that doesn’t mean that I need to bear the loss.
Dear CITI bank, it seems that it’s a game of commission between VISA/MASTER & Card issuing bank and hence allowing such unauthorized transaction to happen right?
Even though I am sailing through so many hurdles, I am offering the banks to consider & do negotiate with possible ways to close the dues as the total disputed amount is really huge & I am not able to pay off the whole, but till now there is no favorable response I received from the bank.
Your salesperson while selling card showing N number of benefits but never discussed about such system glitches where card can be used unauthorized way. Why? Finally, sufferer will be the end users, the innocents like us. I hope bank will think to have proper resolution over such serious cases.

“TOGATHER AGAIST FRUAD” “NEVER SHARE YOUR PIN/OTP” kind of awareness spreads are just show-offs & seems dramatic. Yes, I am the victim of the fraud & bank has nothing to explain except asking due recovery. An eye opener incident I wanted to share with reviewers.

Avoid this bank, horrible customer service,
For the last 6 months I'm trying to solve an issue with them with no result... tens of emails , calls, and complaints all in vain.
Citi in UAE doesn't seem to have any management

Citi bank makes you pay for the fraud amount and does not update you on the process of the investigation.
They do not allow you to cancel the card either.
I have reported Fraud on the 24th of Feb 2022, and yet till now there are no updates when it was mentioned that they will get back to you in 3 days.
On top, customer service was horrible, shouts back at you on the phone, and the customer service is most probably offshore; you can hear your own voice through the echo.
Avoid applying any credit cards with them at all costs.

I had fraudulent transactions and can't get thru the call center. I have raised complaint online for the past 4days since 23Feb 2022 and no reply on my online complaints. Citibank has not called me so far
